I never leave feedback before I receive it.

Will you delete your credit & bank information on paypal ? You really should, It will give you much more control of the situation if it gets out of hand like it happened for me.

Paypal decided everything and I clearly had proof that I was not responsible for this. I would have at least wanted to receive the ps2 before the money was illegally took from my bank account.

I would agree with the advice above about refusing to bow to his threats. I think your response was good, and hopefully will make him realise that he can't threaten you.

If he leaves you negative feedback I wouldn't worry about it. Write a sensible and calm response to the negative feedback saying he has been a problem buyer, and follow up your positive feedback to him with an (again sensible and calm) response, explaining the problems you have had with him.

With your good feedback already, I personally would be happy to buy from you as you have had many good transactions and it's obvious this is a one off. Negative feedback isn't the end of the world, and a bad follow up to his positive will look much worse on him (with 1 feedback) than yours will with 46 positives. The key is to respond rationally to any bad feedback, as "OMG!!!!!TOTAL THEIF RIP OFF SEELER KIDNAPPS CHILDREN AVOID!!!111!!!" tends to put me off a bit. :D

Finally, I got the response

Hi,

I'm sorry I did'nt get back to you sooner but I had to work for a bit today. I DID do more research and found that the Hynix memory DID ship with
the G5 at that time. I'm very sorry for going off the handle on that. My friend is an Apple guru and swore up and down that Hynix is 3rd party.
He was wrong and I apologize again. Nevertheless, I still would not have bid on this unit if I knew it were off the shelf with added 3rd party(spectec) memory. My friend had been watching Ebay for me for about 2 weeks and every time a "bto" came up he would let me know. He informed me of this one about an hour before the auction ended so I had no way to clarify the add although the way it was written it seemed apparent that this was a bto with 2 gb. So, the way I look at it now is: We both made a mistake. I bid and won on something I would not have If I had questioned the add. And you for whatever reasons did not clearly state the facts in your add. Period.

The computer is in very good shape. It powered up and checked out well.
I'm willing to keep it and call it a day. You, in good faith, SHOULD refund
me $200 for the"memory miscommunication" as I will probably replace the
spectec in the future. I'll leave it up to you. And honestly either way I probably won't give you negative feedback but if you do the right thing
I'll be giving you flying colors.

Thank you and sorry for all the stress,
"

It seems like he is giving up on this. Do I have to do something on this?

Good to know he won't this to Paypal dispute.

Don't give him 200$ Tell him that he bid what he bid and should accept what he bought.

I hope he will really leave you a positive feedback.

"You, in good faith, SHOULD refund
me $200 for the"memory miscommunication" ": He never communicated with you in the first place.

Thanks again for many supports. I probably will never use ebay again. It is too annoying I couldn't sleep at all last night. :(

Two things are very clear. He or she assumed everything without reading description carefully and had 0 feedback and bidded without my permission.

I am getting more confident about this issue becasue of you guy's support.
More support or opinion would be nice to me

Thanks

He is using something insignificant to get you to pay him back for something. I sell alot on ebay. I would let him take it up through ebay and Paypal and fight your case. unless you specifically said you had Apple upgraded memory, you will win.

Let this scammer do whatever he can, cause there is no way he can win this dispute. He is obviously trying his best to extort money out of you and maybe he is persistant due to some other previous scam that he was successful in and now thinks he can get away with anything. I would definitely report his ass to the proper authorities for harrasment.

Third party or not ram is ram.

Apple is probably the only bastards that are so anal about not servicing machines with third party modules.. anyone knows where we can buy Hynix modules?

1. Remove credit card details from paypal. Paypal don't care about sellers! Only buyer protection. They will take your money if your not careful, although i doubt this person knows how to make a claim.

2. I personally wouldn't answer anymore email's. He is clearly a scammer so theres no need. Ignore him and he will get bored. I think replying is the worst thing you can do because it looks like you actually care. Just don't bother worrying about it anymore. If you get a negetive, so what? you can reply underneath anyway.

I totally agree, but if he persists then report him to let him know, enough is enough!!

Don't be too hasty in replying, you need to consider this carefully and take the advice of your friends here.

I find the whole thing very disturbing. First of all he incorrectly accuses you of removing all the original memory. That would cause immense stress to anyone, let alone someone who may have a medical condition. Secondly he was acting on the advice of someone who works for Apple corporate. Could this be referred to Apple.

Perhaps you could have a counter claim, he realises this and that is why he is backing down.

You could always refer him to this thread. Good luck.

I will wait until tomorrow morning. Actually I am going back to my home country to have back surgery next week (seriously herniated disc problem and leg pain, it is really painful walking and lying down. You will only know if you have one). And will be away from computer for a month.

I have nothing to lose now. right? I want him to just leave me alone.

Oh give me a break... I've mulled over your auction several times, and this thread, and I can't see how you've possibly done anything wrong, brendel95. He got what he paid for, he apologized with egg on his face, and he still wants $200 back? What a ****ing loser.

If it were me, I seriously would have sent an email back to him telling him to **** off after this gem he sent.

Don't do anything. If he tries to get a refund from Paypal, you have proof that he was trying to scam you. Keep all emails and correspondance. If you never hear back, it's not worth it to even respond. He knows he doesn't have a leg to stand on. If he pissed you off, report him and his account will be cancelled. Even if he leaves negative feedback, you can respond, so it's no big deal. If he doesn't, just let it go and be more careful next time.

I am keeping every respond from him and I am emailing through ebay so that ebay knows that I did actually repond his email.

Little grey, chilly island.
I don't think there is a single argument for you giving him any money at all. This is a situation that needs resolving with the eBay service - you get little or zero help with these matters.

I had an exact same situation but the buyer left me negative feedback and all eBay would say was "It is not in our policy to intefere with the ratings system". What a load of BS that is!!

Plus, have you seen the amount of SCAM apple hardware that is being sold. I saw around 15 titanium powerbooks advertised as 1.5GHZ!! When questioned the sellers respond with "You're wrong"!! I don't know how on earth they get away with it.

Oh eBay, your time will come.

I wish I had 100 post here before selling powermac. Then I certainly post it in a market forum.
