I don't think I could go back to a smaller screen as a daily driver.

But...I am so tempted to pick up an SE as a backup/travel phone. They are pretty cheaply priced now (at least compared with all the other iPhone offerings). And because it is smaller than my 8 Plus, it would be easier to travel with. Not to mention if lost or damaged, I wouldn't be out a ton of $$.

You all got me tempted to buy one now. :)

Be careful! Be very careful! Once you hold an SE in your hand, and start using it, you might find that that big 8 Plus screen isn't quite as necessary as you thought. ;)

I say go for it. It's nice to have options, and where is it written that any of us can only own one iPhone at a time? We can own whatever want, and use whatever we want.

I haven’t run into too much of that myself. My sites and apps are pretty good on SE. I’m not a developer but I’d think sites should format to any screen size. iPod Touch is still being sold so hopefully devs will have to keep supporting that size.

The biggest problem I have with the SE, is that they could increase the screen resolution without being too small to see, and improve the screen real estate for some apps. At the DPI, even tiny txt is legible.

So you're sure people opt for a 7 or 8 solely because they want that size? Not maybe because they want a phone to last more than 3 years and/or a more powerful phone than the 6s/SE?

Do purple iPhones not sell because people don't want them, or because Apple doesn't make them?

People can only buy what they have to choose from...

It’s circular logic. Don’t waste your time trying to reason with it!

Yep, it’s the chicken or the egg debate. In any case the truth is probably much more complicated than we know. If demand was the ONLY major factor, then yes Apple discontinuing it had to mean there was no demand for the SE. But we know and have seen that for Apple, demand isn’t as important as it is to other companies. There are other factors they consider just as if not more heavily. And probably many more factors than we realize.

No one is saying the majority wants SE sized phones. But beyond that it’s impossible to tell how large or small that group is.
Especially when the SE hadn’t been updated for 2-3 years...naturally the demand today wouldn’t be as high as it was when first released (which was unexpectedly high).

I see more women using the plus model than men. Bigger baby pictures???

Bigger purses. Men carry things in pockets, which the plus doesn't fit into well. Most women carry a purse or other bag - the size of the phone hardly matters for that, as it can fit in all but the smallest of clutches.

This is also the reason you don't see people with SEs - you can actually put it away easily!

my ex carried her phone in her pocket/in her hands. she didn't bitch as much as some of you on here. it's pathetic.

Where can I purchase another SE? - I called Apple and they told me that none of the Apple stores in Chicago area have them in stock. I find that extremely hard to believe, since they checked 5 Apple stores near me, but this is what I've been told twice now.

How is it possible that the entire inventory sold out in less than a week?

I can't find them anywhere online in new condition, aside from Verizon, but they no longer have the space gray in stock. T-Mobile all sold out. I looked at BestBuy and all I saw was preowned ones. What is going on?

Apple is strong in both forward and reverse logistics. The same machine that puts products on shelves around the world can recall products as soon as Marketing says so.

Right, but what happened to them all? They just vanished?

One night, you're able to buy an iPhone SE. They have every color and capacity in stock. Overnight, the entire inventory evaporates into thin air?

Inventory gets packed and sent back to Apple for disassembly for parts or repackaged as warranty replacement units.

I know this is Australia and not Chicago, but the local store to me only had 3 left the day after the announcement. I was lucky, and had to go for a 128GB when I only wanted a 32GB (unless I wanted Gold, which nobody does)

It's also larger, lacks a headphone jack, and quite honestly just looks ugly as sin.

The 6S still has the headphone jack and how is it ugly? They practically look the same except in size and different buttons

ATT, Target, Walmart etc. They still show them available online

You may want to check again because I just did and none of them have the latest new unlocked iPhone SE in stock. I just see a bunch of preowned ones.

Latest iteration of the SE was the 32/128 model.

There are multiple prepaid ones, but those are out of the question since I want an unlocked one that can be used with any carrier.

What's going on is that they are discontinued and recalled back to Apple. You will have to search for one or try a 6/7/8 iPhone. Good luck

Because if your only options are phones too big for tiny lady jeans pockets or one-handed use anyway, you might as well get the huge one since it’s going in your purse anyway.

That’s why I’m stuck on the SE. I’m a woman who avoids carrying a purse and often has her hands full with stuff like groceries. So it’s got to fit in pockets and a hand.

I can’t say I agree with JPacks above post. I have never heard of inventory getting ‘sent for disassembly’? (In which case, I doubt Thats the situation specifically for the SE). In the case of the SE, they will disseminate units to pre-paid mobile sites/online third party retailers that will off load for a bundled package at cost. (Ebay is a huge entity for situations like the SE).

Thanks, and let's hope Apple changes its mind soon.
Not going to happen, they killed it off for a reason - it did not make enough money pure and simple. If it was profitable, then apple would have kept it going.

receiving a couple hundred of emails is a drop in the bucket compared the millions of phones they sell. I'd venture Cook received a number of emails when they killed off the 17" MacBook Pro and look what happened there (nothing).

I heard rumors years ago of an ebay seller that was officially from Apple but not officially designated that way on the ebay site.

Is your above post suggesting that Apple (or an official designate) may be (or will be) selling new/unused SE's on ebay?

I've stopped trusting buying most things on Ebay if not also Amazon due to the potential for counterfeiting or grey market or otherwise shady "refurbished" items. I'm pretty sure I purchased a counterfeit JBL Bluetooth speaker last year on Amazon by some unknown seller.

But do you (or anyone reading) know of any historically-reliable refurbished (or new old stock) resellers on Ebay or Amazon, for iPhones?
