nothing wrong with those of us who prefer a smaller phone; i got the 6S when it arrived, then traded it as soon as the SE hit (shortly after). 2 years in, i still prefer a smaller size. too bad apple won't make an SE2 (at least, seems unlikely). so it goes...

Then don’t.

I know women that use the plus model with no issues. Stop whining.

I agree. Big waste of time. They have enough choices of phones, almost too many. Move foward... :)

If you’re that bothered by these things buy an Android phone.

Is your vision for this forum everyone holding hands singing Apple’s praises only? Or do you only allow people to complain if you agree with them? Either way I’m glad you all aren’t in charge.

well apple is in charge and there likely won't be another SE, it's simply too small.

go buy an android if you want a tiny device.

My housemate loves his SE and is annoyed that Apple have discontinued it as he doesn’t like any of the new phones for their size or design. While the SE was a popular phone, I suspect that Apple’s own data has shown people upgrading from the SE to the cheaper end of the iPhone range, and so they can tell that the cheap price was more of a factor than its smaller size.

I’ve suggested that he could buy another SE since the camera on the one he has now is faulty and the battery is failing too but the risk is that ios13 won’t support the SE.

Thinking about it, I might suggest he ask Apple how much it’ll be to repair the camera and battery as a stopgap rather than buy a new one.

Now I think about it, they wouldn't be able to introduce a full screen SE, for that would have to be called iPhone SE X... So no wonder they canceled it.

Read another thread if you don’t like complaining. (See how that works?)

Yes I know there likely won’t be. People don’t complain in these forums to change anything. They complain because that’s what people do—vent—always have, always will. It’s fine in the proper context. This forum is that context. They’re allowed to complain just like you’re allowed to complain about the complainers. And I’m allowed to complain about the ones who complain about the complainers.

Does Android make a tiny device?

Many of us are upset that the iPhone SE has been discontinued. I sent Tim Cook an email this morning about it at his email address: tcook@apple.com

Please take a minute and drop him a polite, respectful email and encourage him to release an updated iPhone SE soon for those of us who prefer a smaller phone.

Hopefully, if enough of us request it Apple might reconsider its decision to discontinue the iPhone SE. Not everybody wants a big phone, and it would be great if Apple continued to support the SE.

Thanks, and let's hope Apple changes its mind soon.

Anyone know how long Tim has been at Apple? What are the odds of no other Tom Cook, Terry Cook, Theresa Cook, etc. working at Apple, unless he's been there for 20+ years?

I suspect a guy like Tim Cook looks for a business case. He’s encouraged by numbers, like any other guy with an MBA.

I'd love to know how Apple supports such business case decisions since it seems they do so little reacting to "what customers want" or "what customers think they want"... I have to believe things like fixing at least SOME of the design flaws in iOS7 were after customer complaints over obvious things Apple/Jony should never have released in the first place, but As Apple keeps obsessing over making things smaller & lighter, I would think if someone at Apple decided all iPhones should go away and be replaced with iWatches, that'd happen regardless of any customer sentiment. It's clear Apple does what they think is right, not what the customer wants.

The only way Apple will release an SE2 is if sales for the new phones don't meet expectations, and Apple has to revisit their lineup to meet customer demand.

All the emails or petitions or whatever won't convince them.

yeah right. they dropped the phone because the sales likely suck. which means they see no reason to keep it around. emailing etc is like those folks that do nothing all season and then when their favorite show is cut because of bad ratings they freak out and try to convince the network to change their mind. and all their tweets, emails and petitions work about as well as this will which is not at all

You're assuming the sales suck. You don't have a crystal ball. They can drop the phone simply because they want to convince people to buy more expensive phones instead. But that doesn't mean the sales of the SE suck. That's really immature reasoning.

The price of the flagship iPhone has essentially doubled in the last 5 years. Part of the reason why Apple reached its $1 trillion milestone. If, going forward, iPhone sales begin to slip, either due to size or price, or both, then you can be sure they'll revamp their lineup and start selling smaller/less expensive iPhones. If demand for cheaper and smaller phones is there, it will happen.

If, on the other hand, sheeple continue to buy iPad-sized phones for $1,500 or $2,000 or $3,000, then the price will continue to go up. Currently, there's no shortage of people who want to pay ridiculous amounts for new phones. People who should have never bought them in the first place. Buy, even if you can't afford - typical mentality in this country, which is why the average American is broke and with no savings. That new 90" OLED TV is a must and so is the new 6.5" iPhone.

iPhone sales are already down compared to 2015, the iPhone 6 year. They have not matched the sales success of the iPhone 6. It is possible they never will.

Their response has been to increase prices so that at least ASP (average selling price) of the phones continues to increase - even as sales are flat.

I don’t even think I’ve seen someone use an SE other then maybe after it was released? Or it could’ve just been a regular 5 lol

If Apple wanted to convince consumers to buy expensive phones in the first place, they would have never introduced iPhone SE.

Nor dropped the price from $399 to $349.

Nor doubled the storage of the SE from 16GB to 32GB.

You're confusing flagship products with Apple's mainstream and entry-level offerings.

Not going to happen. A SE2 would take engineering to make an entirely new circuit board costing millions.

Apple is not going to do it and every poll finds people running to the larger phones.

Can you tell my hands to move forward? They seem to have stopped growing when I was a teenager.

Well you don't hear Trump complaining and he has the tiniest hands of all ;-)

That would have started with an X, so at worst it would have been XSE. It would have never been SEX with that nomenclature.

Well, they could have called it the Xs Mini instead. :)

There is literally only a handful of people who wants an SE, hence why they are discontinuing it. People just need to go with an iPhone 7 or 8. We’re evolving..
Just because *you* don’t like the SE doesn’t mean other people won’t buy it. It was an immediately popular model upon its release and has had a loyal following since. Lest you forget, it was chronically out of stock for many many months following it’s initial release because evidently there were more than “only a handful of people” buying it. Were more users gravitating to the large screen phones? Of course. But the SE was a surprise hit from the moment it was released, and to say otherwise it’s just plain ignorant.

And for what it’s worth, anyone saying Apple doesn’t care what users want needs to watch the SE release video: Apple leadership explicitly stated at the unveiling that they were releasing the SE in part because so many users were requesting a return to smaller phones. Apple has since clearly decided to go all in with the big screen models, but then everyone said the same thing when the iPhone 6 was released, and 18 months later they announced the SE. Lightning struck once with the first model; maybe it will do so again. And there’s absolutely no shame in writing Apple about product feedback, as they’ve demonstrated time and again that they routinely read and even respond to some requests.
