There is literally only a handful of people who wants an SE

How do you know this? Did you do a survey? I must have missed that.

People just need to go with an iPhone 7 or 8.

These are two and one year old technology. I can't operate them single-handedly. They are not good-looking devices (unlike the SE). They're too expensive.

We’re evolving..

Yeah, right. Have you seen who lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue nowadays?

We're regressing, not evolving. We're turning into a load of phone-addicted zombies who live life by the numbers of likes we get, who brand anything evenly remotely negative as "hate" and who can't properly communicate in anything more substantial than a couple of hundred characters posted to Twitter.

Many of us are upset that the iPhone SE has been discontinued. I sent Tim Cook an email this morning about it at his email address: tcook@apple.com

Please take a minute and drop him a polite, respectful email and encourage him to release an updated iPhone SE soon for those of us who prefer a smaller phone.

Hopefully, if enough of us request it Apple might reconsider its decision to discontinue the iPhone SE. Not everybody wants a big phone, and it would be great if Apple continued to support the SE.

Thanks, and let's hope Apple changes its mind soon.

I just sent one....can’t hurt. If it’s truly dead then the worst that can happen is that it will stay dead.

I may have overplayed my hand, though, when I also asked for an updated iPad Mini. :D

The size difference between the 7 and the SE is substantial.

Don't even get me started on the XR ... This sure looks comfortable:

I like the SE because it's relatively small and inexpensive but does a really good job at what it does.

With any of these phones though, putting a case on it adds extra bulk. Sure, Apple would like to sell you AppleCare+ or one of their newer theft protection plans. Practically speaking, with how the X's back panel was made, wouldn't want to tempt fate with a $1000 phone.

or maybe Apple's hoping people buy their watches so the phone stays in the bag or pocket or purse.

Forget SE. Just buy an iPhone 7 at the now-reduced price. It's a rock-solid, fantastic phone for $450 unlocked.

If you're going to pester Cook, make it about something worthwhile. Like trashcanning the garbage MacPro "butterfly" keyboard.

It's also larger, lacks a headphone jack, and quite honestly just looks ugly as sin.

I'll share a very good example which has actually happened with me.

My father was very accumulated with Blackberry which had physical keyboard. All of a sudden, the smartphone market got flooded with touchscreen phones without having physical keyboards.

He hesitated not to use touchscreen since he thought it wasn't his cup of tea. The time had come to replace his Blackberry and he had an option to buy a new Blackberry but touchscreen phones were so much better and it was all over the place, he had to adjust his habit to the new technology.

He uses iPhone 6S from last 2 years and he's loving it.

I understand your needs for smaller screen but unfortunately the market isn't going towards smaller screens anymore. You got to find a way to love bigger screen and how it can help you.

Solidly built phone that works. I've found using the lightning connector with wired mic/headphones works fantastic for calls, great sound quality (bluetooth audio still sucks). And it's not ugly. Fantastic phone for the price. No reason to continue the SE with the 7 and 8 still available at reduced prices.

Is there an actual adult human being on this planet that can't use iPhone 6/7/8 single-handedly?

I understand that the Plus size isn't for everyone but the 6/7/8 is easy to use w/one hand.

Unless you have larger than average hands, with the 678 you have to either shift your grip to reach all four corners or do the balancing act. It can even be a stretch on the SE for slightly smaller than average hands; the 678 is just that much more difficult.

Because it hasn't sold ? I do not ever see anyone with an SE. It's iPhone 6 and newer. So don't be surprised if they don't make a SE for a while or even at all.. I find it hard that people can't use the iPhone 6 or 7 regular size with one hand..

Some of us already went from the 6/6s/7 to the SE, because of size. It’s not about price. I’d pay $1K for a smaller phone tomorrow, but instead I’m stuck with the SE for the foreseeable future (said the same last year.)

No, it sold well for a while. It’s not just about using one hand. I don’t want to carry a bigger, heavier phone around. I’d even be ok with the old iPhone 4 size with a full screen.

Don't need an MBA to know #s should influence your business decisions lol. As a former SE user, I can tell you that the market is driven by bigger screens, especially since so many prominent OEMs are pushing their display sizes up.

For the SE crowd, if you want to upgrade from your device and do not mind giving up iOS? I would look at the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact. Has modern specs and a cleaner version of Android than the Samsungs of the world.

Sony is incredibly bold by making that device in the Android world.

Trouble is that I have owned a few variations of the Z Compact and all were garbage.

The SE is absolutely bulletproof in comparison.

Me. My definition of single handed use is that I can get my thumb to the top of the screen, while resting it in my palm.

THIS TIMES 100.

It is too big and it is now 2 year old technology.

I understand your needs for smaller screen but unfortunately the market isn't going towards smaller screens anymore. You got to find a way to love bigger screen and how it can help you.

The market is going that way because Apple doesn't offer a small phone. The SE exceeded their demand when it was a new phone.

Fantastic phone for the price. No reason to continue the SE with the 7 and 8 still available at reduced prices.

The 7 and 8 are way overpriced in my country for old technology. They also don't fulfil the requirement of a small screen.

There are iPhone per device market share breakdowns which show that in many many countries the SE is more popular than the plus models in some countries.

https://deviceatlas.com/blog/most-popular-iphones

It is obviously not Apple's biggest seller but it didn't 'Not Sell'.

It's gone because it doesn't have the profit margins of the larger devices.

Why I am upgrading my 5S to an iPhone SE today.

My iPhone 5S weighs 112g. The iPhone SE weighs 113g, the Xs weighs 177g. That is nearly 57% more mass which means 57% more momentum when it hits the concrete if you drop it. I would be happy to pay $1k+ for a phone with the mass of my 5S if it has all the features of an Xs and if it were smaller than the Xs. The strong sales of the SE when it was introduced is good evidence is that people want a small, light phone. The low price confounds those variables. I strongly suspect that the motivation for killing the SE is to avoid cannibalizing higher priced sales. The experiment has not been done to determine whether there is the market for a small, higher priced phone. To those who say that people don’t want the SE, I say show me the data. It sold very well when it was introduced and hasn’t been significantly updated. I don’t understand those who think I should want what they want. I’m happy that Apple is satisfying those who want large, heavy phones. I and lots of others don’t. I agree that Apple Feedback is the correct place to complain about the demise of the SE. Tim Cook is listening to others who make these decisions and reads, at most, if at all, only a small fraction of his customer email. Reading customer email is delegated to others.

While I can appreciate your sentiment of how the 57% heavier phonenmay fall 57% faster or have 57% more momentum, it unfortunately doesn’t work that way. The drop rate is certainly effected by the weight, however the actual surface area of the device factors into that as well as the distance from the ground the object hits. The larger phone has a larger surface area, therefor has a higher impact on the amount of air resistance it has before it hits the ground. So one could argue that even though you have a 57% increase in weight, depending on the height and air conditions, the actual momentum applied to the drop would most likely be less than 57% due to a larger surface area that air resistance on the drop could apply to. I’m no mathematician so I won’t be crunching numbers, and yes the heavier phone would most likely drop harder than a lighter, however the force of impact most likely isn’t an automatic 57% harder by default.

Very true. Price is not why I bought an SE. I bought it for the form and design. I would pay a good price for an updated version of the SE, I don't care about a "budget phone." I am sick of the media falsely portraying the iPhone SE as that kind of device.

Give us an updated SE and people would pay top dollar for it. Instead all we get are the big phones, which are fine for what they are, but they are not what some of us want.

Big screens have nothing to do with advancement in technology. Apple could have made the first iPhone the size of the Plus if they wanted.

Nah I’m good. Time to move on. A company sells what they want to sell. A low percentage of upset people won’t hurt the company.

Carriers still stock the SE and will until they've run out of stock. The carriers sign contracts with Apple that compels them so buy a certain amount of iPhones from Apple. You can't just got to Apple and say "I'll try to sell some iPhones, we'll see how it goes". You sign up for say a million iPhones and that's what they will deliver to you and that's also what you will pay them. At least, this was the case a while ago. But I suspect it's still true because the only thing more costly than selling the iPhone is not selling it. The customer drain would be epic. And as the contracts are usually expensive, carriers would lose a lot of good customers. No one can afford that.

So, I'm torn between actually ordering the smallest XS or a 32GB SE, which costs CHF 149 through my contract or either the smallest X (which felt very good when I tried it in the store) or the smallest XS, which I have yet to see but isn't actually much more expensive than the X.

For me, a phone needs a certain weight to feel good in the hand. The X felt good. The iPhone 7 I once tried felt kind of flimsy.
[doublepost=1537038878][/doublepost]Though, of course it could be that the SE is on a three-year cycle (seeing that many who buy it just can't or don't want to upgrade often).

Year 1: release
Year 2: small spec-bump
Year 3: new model

One thing is sure: with the current line-up, nobody can accuse Apple of producing phones that are easy to smuggle into prisons.

I swear, the iPhone SE and the Essential Phone is going to be the Shenmue II of mobile history. Underrated. Beloved. Fans will ask for years for a sequel. At least Shenmue III will finally be released next year on August 27th. Only took 18 years...

The irony because Shenmue II might be my favorite video game of all-time aging better than Final Fantasy VII and my Essential Phone and iPhone SE rank #1 & #2 among my favorite phones ever. Used to be LG G5 at #1 until the battery drain and ghosting.

Love Shenmue II, Essential PH-1, and iPhone SE. Not really into iOS but it's clear iPhone SE is the best iPhone ever made FOR ME. Because iOS really was intended for small screens.

Only iPhone worth its price but was sold below its true value.

Bought my mother an iPhone SE because "I don't want such a big phone, I only need a small phone".
After fiddling with it: "This is so small, maybe there's a bigger one?".

No kidding, this is why originally I insisted on her coming here and testing them all out in the Store.
But that requires certain logistics that aren't easily manageable on my parents and my own side any more.

The reason SE is no longer available is because the vast majority of people don't want it. What, you think Apple doesn't follow the money? You think they'd cancel something popular?

Nah. SE is of no benefit to them. So they got rid. Go find a different company to buy phones with or step into the present.
