If you have a dual GPU card then SLI should run on a single slot in Windows. In OS X I don't know because the OS has no SLI support except for GPGPU apps

GPGPU apps don't use SLI/Crossfire at all.
It's more like multiprocessing due to nature of the OCL/CUDA frameworks.
It's OS independent thing.

Where/who was the supplier for the Sata to 6 Pin power cables that you're using? Thanks!
eBay item number 151666389130 from seller jacobsparts . You might want to attach them to a Newer Technology AdaptaDrive 2.5" to 3.5" Drive Converter Bracket , available from b&h photo for under 14 USD each . When available , I use third party HP workstation adapter caddy model number ASSY 654540-001 REV B . Both require attachment onto the Apple factory sled . They both come with two different size screws , depending on where they should be fastened . Do not confuse them or you'll strip 'em .

I actually prefer this one. It's not as cheap but it's super nice and matches so well. I got mine for $19, but they are at $22 now.
There is no provision to secure a SATA power connector with this sled , which is the whole purpose of using the other adapters ... We need a pass-through power connection to provide juice to the video booster cable(s) . And that connection should never come loose , which is why I also kragle the cable to the adapter . Permanent , until Lord A. C. Tone enters the picture ...

Oh I see. I didn't fully understand the purpose. That's what happens when skimming through the posts.

With a Kingston SSD Drive Carrier 2,5" > 3,5" you have a secure power connection.

I did this: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/motherboard-to-pcie-sata-power.1712884/#post-18855446
