Hmmm, 1/2 lb just for a single cup, eh?
I like my espresso REALLY potent!

Your portafilter must be huge to fit that 226g filter basket into it!

That photo isn't analogy either; that's a picture of Shrink making his morning cup.
Flying the chopper when I'm groggy is not easy...but anything for that first CUP.
Have you guys ever had the israelie version of the drink it's awesome. It's called a cafe hafuch. Which literally means a upside down latte or cappuccino.
How is it different to lattes or cappuccinos over here?
The espresso is ON TOP of the milky/foamy stuff...of course!
REALLY!?
I was just kidding.
Yes. That is correct. They do it in a different order.

I'm sure it's good... but... it's pre-ground. Is that not blasphemy? I suppose I have some reading to do, but I've not used pre-ground beans in years. Maybe I should reconsider?I just ordered some Italian coffee from Whole Latté Love

Ah, to roast one's own beans is, indeed, the ultimate. I've yet to do that, but I do like subscribing to Tonx and getting a nice new selection every few weeks. However, Shrink, will attest that there is no other way to drink coffee/espresso unless you roast and grind your own beans. He has this thing about *freshness.*

Just be aware: the beans are whole. I've got one of these to grind it, and it works well, although I'm sure the posters on this thread would be split between "too expensive" and "not good enough".Fascinating link. I'll have to give that a good look. Thanks

To be fair, I've also got this for travel, and it works well too at about 1/7 the cost - it just takes longer.
Hand grinders can be quite good - and many enthusiasts swear by them (if you get the right one) - but they do take longer to grind because you're doing it by hand. However, they are inexpensive and very, very durable.Understood. I'll bookmark it in my coffee folder and when/if I get a grinder, I'll give it another look.
I've toyed with getting a grinder all year, but haven't yet. Just as you say, some are too expensive, for my needs, but I also don't want one that isn't good enough either.
