Your portafilter must be huge to fit that 226g filter basket into it!

Shrink uses a Bambi Bucket to filter his coffee. I've seen it.

Have you guys ever had the israelie version of the drink it's awesome. It's called a cafe hafuch. Which literally means a upside down latte or cappuccino.

Yes. That is correct. They do it in a different order.

So they pour the espresso over the milk foam ?

Because, unless they have suspended gravity in Israel, there's no way the espresso is going to STAY on top of the foam.

Lol I see now.

I have to say Im not convinced that would make much of a difference to the finished drink really.

I just ordered some Italian coffee from Whole Latté Love.

I'm sure it's good... but... it's pre-ground. Is that not blasphemy? I suppose I have some reading to do, but I've not used pre-ground beans in years. Maybe I should reconsider?

It all depends on your preference. I don't have a grinder (yet). Maybe someday. I've ordered pre-ground before and it was satisfactory for my tastes.

Lately, I've been getting my coffee from Tim Horton's and grinding it there in the store and it's been great.

However, Shrink, will attest that there is no other way to drink coffee/espresso unless you roast and grind your own beans. He has this thing about *freshness.* :D

Ah, to roast one's own beans is, indeed, the ultimate. I've yet to do that, but I do like subscribing to Tonx and getting a nice new selection every few weeks.

Fascinating link. I'll have to give that a good look. Thanks :)

Just be aware: the beans are whole. I've got one of these to grind it, and it works well, although I'm sure the posters on this thread would be split between "too expensive" and "not good enough". ;)

To be fair, I've also got this for travel, and it works well too at about 1/7 the cost - it just takes longer.

Understood. I'll bookmark it in my coffee folder and when/if I get a grinder, I'll give it another look.

I've toyed with getting a grinder all year, but haven't yet. Just as you say, some are too expensive, for my needs, but I also don't want one that isn't good enough either.

Hand grinders can be quite good - and many enthusiasts swear by them (if you get the right one) - but they do take longer to grind because you're doing it by hand. However, they are inexpensive and very, very durable.

Yeah, I'm looking at that travel hand grinder you linked to. Over 300 good reviews and only $30!

The other link didn't work. :(
