Rain next few days. Good reason to go through a half kilo of dark chocolate making hot chocolate with whole milk (full fat), and a splurge of cream. Maybe enhanced with a shot of espresso.

I've been craving mochi for a few days. The rice treats, not the ice cream in glutinous rice.

Had Bulletproof's Mentalist coffee. I actually enjoyed quite a lot.

Please tell me they serve teas, iced and hot, too. I can't imagine Maker's or Aperol being pleasant in coffee...

Anyway, currently having a somewhat heavily sweetened cappuccino with some cake, and a pour of cognac sitting next to me. Ate a little too much for dinner. The cappuccino and cake will help the digestion, since I find the sweetness helps get things moving. And the cognac because why not?

It odes look amazing; thanks for sharing - I love the respective coffee grinders (or containers) for the different coffees.

The good thing about Asian countries like Thailand where labor prices are lower is quite often you see it in the service you get as a customer. Restaurants are able to offer you specialty drinks, foods and desserts which can be time consuming without the need to pay an arm and a leg for it. In the US at say $15 per hour for chef and waiter the restaurant owner is at almost $30 per hour trying to serve customers which is before rent and all other stuff they have to pay. I there for prefer countries like Thailand to restaurant, desserts and drinks options (like teas and coffees) over the US. People can offer you specialty drinks and foods for less. Different coffee grinders require more time to clean and maintain which is hard if you have high labor costs involved.
[doublepost=1549127023][/doublepost]These tea and coffee places are very popular now in Asia. Especially Thailand,Hong Kong and China.

These two are from Hong Kong

The coconuts were from Bangkok. Pretty cool how they managed to get inside of the coconut out of the shell with the juice still intact inside of it and serve it fresh for 100 Baht

This place is in Shenzhen, very popular these days. See how many drinks the deliver guy is delivering. I reckon they sell about 2000 cups per day. Some places have a 30 minute wait to buy drink and then another 30 minute wait to get drink. Teas and coffees are in these days in Asia.

For the second consecutive day, I failed to reach The Ethiopian Coffee Company by phone.

That means that I shall have to wait until Monday before placing a fresh order with them.

The coconut isn't hard if you're skilled. That is just off a young green coconut before the interior meat hardens as it ages off the palm. It had a slightly woody interior protecting the meat. I suspect they use a small saw, such as that on a dremel and separate the meat from the shell by injecting clean water to force it off without damaging the tender meat.

The boba and fruit teas look nice. What flavor boba did you get? There's a few good places here, IMO, and they always find it funny to see a westerner order it. Not in a mean way, of course. I usually opt for the strong coffee with cream. Sometimes they run special summer flavors which are rather good.

There's a few areas in Orange County that offer a slew of very good tea and coffee places.
[doublepost=1549147899][/doublepost]You can buy young green coconut here in that form or cleaned up so the inner sponge-like material is present and then wrapped in plastic wrap. It should smell clean if not slightly sweet. The water/juice should be mildly sweet to very sweet, and the flesh should, in my opinion, ideally be soft and creamy over gelatinous or harder which means it had already began developing into a traditional coconut.

I spent quite a bit of time thinking about that coconut and how they manage to get it out with the juice/water inside without breaking it.

If you are in Orange County check out Omomo next to UCI. Off of Alton/Jeffrey by the 405 freeway.

@stylinexpat: Could you please do me (and, perhaps, some others) a favour: Perhaps please, load one or two - rather than several - as it takes an eternity to load - pictures or images per post.

And please, post a few posts at a time, rather than one which may take forever to load.
