One should never run out of coffee. Be more attentive next time!

:p

Agreed.

An unexpected visitor (the cheesemonger) three days ago, meant that more coffee was consumed than I had expected - when I was already close to running out.

Nevertheless, in such circumstances, the requirements of hospitality win out over guarding dwindling supplies of coffee.

@Scepticalscribe, shocked and appalled! I have reported you to the East African Coffee Association! Sanctions may be imposed!

Worse than that - a further confession - is the fact that I also purchased at the same time some aged Sumatran Mandheling coffee, another coffee I have never tried before.

A local - and very good - coffee shop had just recently re-opened (with a chalked announcement on a blackboard outside proclaiming that they sold "coffee beans"); during the earlier lockdown they had a small van out of which they operated, but no beans.

The lady inside was stunned that I wished to browse their selection of beans. "Since lockdown ended, everyone wants to come here for coffee, nobody buys beans," she said, astonished.

A close examination (skipping the various "house blends" available) of the beans on offer yielded the discovery that they stocked nothing from Kenya, Ethiopia, Yemen or even Burundi or Rwanda, but did have a few coffees that seemed interesting.

At the very least, this will ensure that I don't run out of coffee until my supplies of east African coffees (I haven't been able to source them since March!!) can be replenished.

If you like it you should try Chiapas' coffee, it's very similar to Medellín, but with a little bit more body than the Colombian.

This is not what I would usually have chosen, but, with hot milk, it is an excellent beverage.

I might yet try it in my Bialetti Moka pot.

@casperes1996: This is the long-running coffee/espresso thread. Feel free and welcome to join us.

Given that the Colombian Medellin (a dark roast, not my usual style), coffee I am currently enjoying seems to grind to a fine grind, I decided to unearth my Bialetti Moka pot and prepare to savour my coffee by using this wonderfully traditional means of preparation.

So, coffee, in a Bialetti Moka pot, with organic full fat hot milk. Lovely.

After my expensive, fancy espresso machine broke six years ago, I purchased a Bialetti Moka pot and an electric milk frother/heater. I doubt I will go back to another espresso machine.

I love my Moka pot!

It is easy to use, easy to clean, and with the addition of placing a drip coffee basket paper filter over the Moka pot funnel prior to screwing it together, it tastes just as good as the espresso.

I kind of miss making my streamed milk with the espresso machine, but the electric frother is a good substitute.

I used this milk frother:

Before that one, I used it predecessor which is no longer made, and I went through a total of 9 of them as they break often. Most have been replaced under warranty, and the last time it broke, Aroma Housewares gave me the newest model (the one posted above) as a warranty replacement since they no longer make the older model. It has a year warranty that ended in April, and I had to get it replaced three times since I purchased it in April of 2019.

One might ask why I continue to use a very unreliable appliance, and the reason is that it is the best performing milk frother that I have tried. I have used maybe 6 or 7 different brands, and none of them come close to how well this one (and its predecessor) froths the milk.

The reviews for it are not that good, and I am sure that is mostly due to them breaking, but I have yet to find a frother that compares to it.

To be fair to the frother, I do use it a lot, at least three times a day for my usual daily coffee. I use the frother twice and the warmer once, and with the Moka pot coffee, this is my result:

I have one of these daily (28 ounce cup) unless I am out of town or sick.
