This thread is far from pointless. It's your opinion that people should buy a new device, perhaps people are satisified with the hardware and just want to tweak the software. Or like the previous firmware in stock form and don't want to be stuck with the newest FW.

I for one appreciate thelatinist's efforts. He has been extremely patient with my questions and problems. For my money he is the most knowledgable poster on here in regards to situations like this.

Exactly. As far as I'm concerned, if somebody's advice and knowledge can help even one person, it's worth posting. If people don't like it, don't read the effin' thread. Sheesh. :)

this whole thread is pointless.

assuming the OP's what-if scenarios came true, then get another cell that lets you tether, Exchange, multitask etc. this isn't a 30 yr fixed rate mortgage or a some contractual binding agreement, it's a freaking one night stand. you touched it, felt it up, played with it, great. move on and get a new one.

i promise the next one you find will do all the things you wished your current one would do.

This thread is far from pointless, you are.
Judging by some really buggy iphone firmware that Apple put out in the past history might repeat again.
I dont know if you remember the 2.0 and 3.0 days and other firmware before and after where iphone needed to be restored plenty of times and wouldnt reboot. Also the itunes backups that used to take an hour to complete and many other issues this could help you stay away from all that untill a fixed and more stable version is out.
Now that Apple will not let any new iphone restore or downgrade to anything but the latest firmware out there this could solve many problems.
Wait, then you'll cry why your iphone runs like crap or crashes or has many bugs and you will not be able to do nothing about it. But some of us will be able to go back down to 3.1.2 or other nice and stable versions while waiting for Apple to release a fix without any problems.
