I hardly use it in public. Only at school i guess if you wanna cal that public... Ive used it a few times at the local macdonalds store to show it at friends, but i only do that when its not busy. I live in a bad neighborhood

yea i take my pb everywhere, despite it being a 17". seems like whenever i take it to the library i am the only mac user in a sea of thinkpads and dells, needless to say i catch ppl staring at it sometimes. doesnt work too well at the cafe tho, which is why im repairing an ol 12" ibook to do the trick

You use your mac on the ceiling?

Older Macs had them upside down for some reason.

Im in a public library and i turned on my MBP and the BING!!!! sound went off. Can you turn that off?

People actually shut down their laptops? I just sleep mine. That way you can just pop it open and you're started instantly.

I bring my mbp to every parts of singapore...especially starbucks when some cute ladies will stare at my mbp:eek: that is what a mbp should be used for isn't it? i just use my imac whenever i am at hme:eek:

My MacBook has been on over 250 flights with me, probably 30 cities, and 3 countries. Yes. I take it in pubic, but if I didn't, I'd never see it.

off topic: I'll have a long flight from NY to KL coming next month. When you guys take your MB(P) to airport and on the plane, do you shut down your MBP or just put it to sleep? (especially when the plane take off and landing)

On my last flight I just left my MacBook Pro in sleep mode during takeoff and landing.

I never turn off any electrical device when I get on a plane....all this talk of it interfering with the plane's instruments is utter nonsense. I understand why they do it though...a plane full of people nattering on their phones would be a nightmare.

I take my MacBook on the train every day on my way to work. I bought a laptop as I need to be able to be mobile and work. I love my Mac....it always draws people in.....especially the laydees! :D

Sleep mode is fine on flights, last month when I went on vacation, it went through security in sleep and stayed sleeping on the flight (Didn't use it, since a seat in coach on a fully booked AA flight on the MD-80 sardine cans is not the most convenient place to use a laptop)

Also, a year ago, I was on a flight with a screaming baby near me so I had my iPod on the entire time, even during takeoff and landing, and the plane didn't crash. The rule is BS IMO :D

I never shut down my PB while flying or at the airport. It goes through security just fine. In fact, leaving it in sleep mode might be the preferred way because the security officers might ask you to turn on your laptop, and I'd rather just open the lid and not wait for ages until it boots up from the fully shut down state.

MacBook is my first laptop computer, and being fairly small, it fits my backpack. I always carry it around if I'm going to town - maybe I'll need an internet connection to see my way to concrete location, or... just show it while dinning in a cafe :).

I love my MBP, but haven't gotten a nice case yet, so I don't take her out too much. I did take her to my friends house to LAN in some C&C3. Amazing how well the game ran (same or better than his desktop)

But I plan on testing out the wifi at the local library sometime soon. Haven't seen many MBPs around here. Just some macbooks and ibooks at the Starbucks.

I refuse to live in fear. Anyway my MacBook has survived a few spills.

i just spilled a very tiny amount of diet dr pepper on the keyboard of my MBP. I immediately unplugged it, took out the battery, and flipped it upside down. not much liquid came out, and i popped some keys off to see if it was wet (it wasn't).

I turned it back on (which i NOW know is a no-no) but its working fine.

what are the odds its still going to be fine and not suddenly crap out?

The title of the tread really makes it sound like its something saucy to do lol. Took my Mac out in public, what a thrill!! Lol, All good fun :)

Have used my MBP in public a few times, mainly on the beach uploading photos or movies, remember pulling it out in Disneyworld in Florida to upload a photocast to .mac, which got serious bad looks from the rest of my party!

Used to use it on my lunch break in one of my previous jobs, at a large Insurance company, was pretty funny sitting down next to guys in suits acting all "i'm so important, i'm in a suit and using a laptop" (i'm sure you know the kind of person i mean) and pulling my MBP out and just watching them stare in amazement, I'd go back to that job just for that!

I already have a blazing desktop, I just didnt get this so I could chat on AIM on my couch. Mine goes with me everywhere.

On a side note, while at class (which is 2 hours long) there is a kid that brings a surge protector with a 8 foot cord to class. I dont really consider a laptop you have to keep plugged in a true laptop.

They dont expect you to turn off your devices, merely store them. Now, if you are not turning off your cell phone and you get a phone call while on the plane, well thats just interfering with the flight crew and now you are dealing with the Feds.

For the person complaining about the startup sound, go here. But seriously a google search can find anything...

I take my Macbook everywhere with me. Its great, although it has to be shut down, because for some reason, if i put it on standby in my backpack, it restarts when its moved (sensor?).
