Need some help from the pros here. Is it worth it to hunt for a while for reasonable (~$80) prices on 3rd or 4th gen saddle brown and black classic buckles (esp saddle) or go with the almost always available sub $50 leather links?
That will just come down to personal preference. Which do you like more? Some people may prefer the ease of the magnetic leather links, while others will prefer the time honored design of the classic buckle. Me, personally, I love the classic buckles a whole lot more than the leather links, but I wouldn't go anywhere near $80 on one. You also kinda need a silver stainless steel to make them work, as ivan mentioned, the lugs are polished steel, so they won't match anything else and it will stick out. The leather links are full leather, all the way up to the watch, so they blend in a bit better. Getting the combination right though, you can have some seriously luxurious vibes with the classic buckles.

I will say, I would be a lot more interested in the leather links if they went the way of the DVT prototypes that we saw a while back. When they first leaked, they had a ton of awesomely wild colors out there. I really want this one with the yellow sides.

A ruby or product red LLink would be a definite day one purchase for me.

I'm waiting for the day. I prefer the leather loops to the links, which is why I'm sad they died off without ever getting a red.
The only thing I didn’t like about the loops was the stainless section where the two pieces joined. Having a few black stainless and black titanium models over the years it wreaked havoc with my ocd. Lol. That being said…. I definitely feel the loops give a more secure fit. The links tend to loosen off easier in my use cases.

Thanks so much! I think more than anything I want something to look classy with silver-tone watches: aluminum now, SS or Ultra (if they ever make a smaller one) later. I’d tried on a saddle leather link in 2020 and it really seemed plasticky. The leather didn’t feel as high quality as I’d expected. Does that match your or anyone else’s experience? I absolutely love the saddle brown color that Apple uses, but I worry about the durability and quality of the leather on the links.

I found the loops to come with more of a “mat” finish and then they turn shiny after prolonged use.
Maybe not the first few batches (see chalk pic above), but I certainly now find the Links come with a subtle gloss finish to them that I actually prefer. They are a little stiff at the start but loosen up nicely after a while.

I mean Hermes will be the absolute top option, but they're up there in price. Especially the ones I want. Definitely agree on leather links though. They're weiiird.

I got the Flash Sport Band today. Despite it's age, it is still factory sealed, a true collector's item. :)

However when I added the band to the Bandbreite app, I noticed there is a weird color change when you export the band:

Is it just my eyes, or did the colors get mixed up a little here?

I guess your eyes are fine. 😬. Thank you for pointing that out. The card has been fixed, and I also added around 20 new cards missing for older Sport Bands. (You need to "clear cache" in settings to see the changes if you already generated a card)

How is this database coming along? It would be really helpful to look for the "right" color in international markets. ;)

We're making some great progress, only none for Chinese yet. But happy to announce we added Polish and Portuguese (BR). A big hug to everyone involved so far. Current status of band/color names translations:

🇩🇪 German: 100%; 🇫🇷 French: 84%; 🇳🇱 Dutch: 90%; 🇪🇸 Spanish: 80%; 🇧🇷 Portuguese (BR): 98%; 🇮🇹 Italian: 77%; 🇰🇷 Korean: 80%; 🇯🇵 Japanese: 100%; 🇵🇱 Polish: 56%; 🇨🇳 Chinese: 8%

Again, if one of these is your native language (or yours is missing) and you want to assist us in researching all of the official colours and shades please let us know.

You will be able to see the translations on our all-new website soon, and we plan to add them to the app in our March/April update. Fingers crossed.

A newly updated "Bandbreite", your favourite app for your ever-growing watch band collection, is available on the App Store later today. | https://apple.co/3cEElZg #BandbreiteApp #AppleWatchBands

What's new in 1.10? We made the app you love even lovelier! Introducing the logbook. Log the bands you're wearing and keep track of which bands are being worn the most, and which are used the least and might need more of your attention. A simple tool, which emphasizes your favourites and helps you to understand your collection and your habits a bit more. It's also fun!

What else? Sharing a band is even more thoughtful. There's now a link attached to each of the custom-designed cards, which opens the band details on our all-new website or redirects the user to the app if possible. And, did you miss the last in-app announcement? To solve the uneasy feeling you're missing out we now keep the latest news as a dismissible banner on the homescreen.

Many thanks to Mattia for being awesome as usual, and a huge shout-out to @simon for making "Bandbreite" available on the web in the most beautiful and useful way possible. And everyone else, who’s already working on our next release and beyond. We would also like to thank our beta testers for their helpful perspective on the new features.

If you feel like going above and beyond to support us, a virtual tip jar is available in the settings section. And any support is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Huge congratulations to all of you who work on this app. It's insane we've gotten to this point!

I am now sport band complete. All 117 bands. Thanks to a very kind soul who saw that my collection was missing Lilac, they sent me theirs from their collection - being that they no longer were collecting these - and wanted it to go to someone who could truly appreciate it. They asked for nothing, despite my insisting recompence in some way.

I am floored by their generosity and will always be humbled by their actions. Ill take better pics when there is better light but its been a wild ride getting here. I am forever grateful.

That's pretty awesome. What a feat, too--I only have 36 Sport Bands 🫣

For those of you who have gold stainless, what are your go to bands for formal occasions? My wife just got the gold and her wrists are tiny so the Milanese wraps all the way around and looks silly. Having a hard time finding some apple leather bands with gold hardware

Just installed Bandbreite to try to further investigate !

My best guess is the Modern Buckle, which is available in Aubergine and Raspberry with a golden buckle.

Congratulations, I thought my collection was not too bad at 37 Sport bands at just over 2 years in. How do you store them?
