It totally was a prototype, lugs are printed properly and it matches one of the band colors from this fall.

Very interesting, thanks for posting. The rumours were very strong regarding a black AWU2 and I was surprised when it didn't show up in September. Anyone think Apple are holding it back to boost sales, notwithstanding the import ban, for the mid cycle colour update like the iPhone or just AWU3?

Well if the prototype got out, fair to say they've probably been dropped from consideration entirely.
Taupe is such a great colour in general. The Taupe Classic Buckle is still my favourite Apple leather band.
Yeah I lightly forgot it existed and was thinking all day yesterday how it’s the only taupe but then I was putting it away in the 41 leather drawer and Taupe CB was right there.

Are the magnets as weak as people say? I really want to get one but I am worried about it feeling precarious to wear.
They feel on par with leather links to me. Not too loose.
Yeah they’re not loose. I’ve never had the issue with magnetic bands some do but I also don’t live in a cold clime, so don’t run into the “taking off a jacket” thing.
Also you may have the option of getting an M/L when you only need S/M and getting extra wraparound.
I like the FW bands but I had a leather loop that came undone when I was putting on my coat and my new Series 7 fell to the ground and got dinged up. 👎I only had 4.5 open magnet blocks too, so not like it was barely hanging on to the other strap.
I won't be getting one of the new links because of that, although I'd love one of these new colors with the Ultra.
Apple products seem to work best when the climate is the same as depicted in the weather app icon, aka reality as the Cupertino-based employees see it 😆
Deep Navy is more towards purple, Storm and Abyss favor green. If you like the relative desaturation of Storm, I would recommend Midnight Blue (second gen is more saturated)
