I went to the Apple Store today to pick up a cornflower sport loop, and I did, but for some reason my eyes were drawn to the Platinum/Black Nike sport band, and that ended up in my purchase today too. I think it looks great with my 44 SB S4!

The perfect watch - band - case combo

Yes the 18K gold classic buckle is pretty much perfect from an aesthetics point of view IMO.

i actually thought the apple watch editions were beautiful. the mark up of over 10,000 was excessive...almost comical...but iconic

Well considering the case was solid 18K gold and the machining that went into it, I can kind of see why it was so expensive. If the watch had been gold-plated stainless steel and, say, $1500 instead of $15,000 I would have bought a Series 0 even knowing it was a life-limited item.

Well there's been articles about how the amount of gold that was actually used on these editions was not anywhere near the amount to charge 17,000k. Maybe half that retail price at best. For me it seems Apple was being experimental.

To be fair, does a Rolex Day-Date 40 have $55,000 of gold in it? :p

For me it seems Apple was being experimental.

I agree that Apple looked at the Watch strongly as a fashion item when they were developing it and launching it.

Within a year of the launch, the narrative had changed and health and activity monitoring became more important and the Series 2 reflected that: better water resistance, on-board GPS receiver and the Edition had switched from solid gold to ceramic and the price had dropped by a factor of close to 10.

By the Series 4, the Edition model was gone and while it has a fashion aspect still, the focus is well off that now.

Does your 42mm leather classic buckle fit a little funky on your 44mm Series 4?

Where it snaps into the watch...does it stick out some on both sides?

Yep, they changed the corner radii of the new watches. Same goes with all the bands, it’s just most noticeable on the metal varieties.

I actually kinda disagree here - older generation Sport Bands look the worst on the S4. Which believe me makes me sad as Pollen is from the “past” and I’ve got a watch from the present.

The Classic Buckles (38mm on 40mm), I personally feel it blends well enough. Only if you look hard enough do you see it stick out on the sides very incrementally. Will the general public (including people you meet who observe your watch) look for that minor discrepancy? Nope. So it’s fine. The rest of the design fits the body of the watch.

On the other hand.

The way the Sport Bands that came before the S4, those ones, how they fit the S4 is horrendous. Not only is seeing the lugs stick out the side more noticeable, but also, you’ll notice the Sport band near the connector is designed different in shape. An older Sport Band actually looks off / different on an S4 if you compare closely with an S4 Sport Band on an S4 - which now I see what they mean when they say “designed for the S4” on Apple’s website.

i don't know if there are hermès band lovers here but apple restocked some of the spring bands! i grabbed the one i originally missed out on

The hyper grape sport loop has sold out at my local apple store.

How likely would it be for it to come back in stock?

It may be one that has come and gone from the Apple and Nike Stores. Another place you might consider looking is eBay. And get one now if you're interested because I am expecting pricing on the second hand market to increase significantly. I have a feeling this one will be highly coveted by many just as Ultra Violet and some of the other "grail" bands have been. It truly is spectacular.

Would anyone happen to have a photo of the white, antique white, and stone sport bands? I’d really love to see how they differ.
