I wish I have the income to get more Macs. Gwad, I am going back to school so I am on a real budget. I want a MB. I don not know why, because I have a MBP.

I have used them both and the MB won it for my this one is mine at the minute but may go the GF to replace her knackered laptop once the new shape MB's come out. Especially if they are as nice as the mockups we are seeing on here.

Although I may wait till the first quarter of 2009 incase of any revisions and that being the best time for me to buy.

I just traded up to a macbook. It ended up being an awesome decision. I went from a dinged up 1.83CoreDuo MBP to a MB with a faster processor, bigger HD, and more RAM. For less! :)

yea i saw a mbp when they just came out and the mb is basically better priced and better choice the mb had 1.83ghz core duo 60gb 512mb of ram, then the mbp had the same but a 80gb hd, and a bigger screen why did they do that not much more power

See, I'm the opposite, I'm looking to sell my Santa Rosa Macbook to get a MBP.

Two reasons:

1: I need a dedicated Graphics card.
2: I would buy an iMac, but it's cheaper for me to buy the MBP and sell the Macbook, there is NO way I'm giving up the freedom of portability.

The dedicated graphics card, display size and casing are the major differences. None of which I now care about :)

Not fussed about screen size, I like the small footprint the MacBook has, and most of the time it's plugged into an external anyway.

It's the dedicated graphics card that does it for me. I've gotten to the stage where I need one, but not out of choice.

If only the Mac Mini had a dedicated graphics card like the PPC versions, I'd be sorted.

I use the Mac Pro for web development (first year major) and animation with programs such as Modo, Maya, AutoCAD and 3ds Max.

The monitor is actually an Acer 24", cheapest and best on the market.

The Mighty Mouse does not work on glass I just didn't have my pad setup.

The UPS is like 4 years old from FutureShop and it is silent as ever :p

oh k, cool. your animations and CADs will surely harness the beast's cores.

but what brand is the UPS?… by God man! i cant be bothered looking thru the FutureShop website.

Heh, when I was under 18 all I had was a 12" Powerbook that I got on fire sale for $999... and now it still is all I have :) Except for a Snow iMac G3 I recently got off eBay.

Low end FTW! My little brother is 14 and already has a 20" aluminum iMac and an 80gb iPod.

What job pays well enough? A skilled job apparently... think about it if he focused on one thing for long enough, he could easily have a 'skilled' job by now. Skilled meaning it actually took something ie not a janitor etc.

Honestly, I worked as a janitor (it does "take something") this summer and made a nice big chunk of change. However, I still code web sites (PHP, MySQL, ect.) on the side (not for money, necessarily). Just wanted to clarify that being a janitor pays well and can be good to make money for someone who's under 18 (not that skilled jobs are bad, they're great!).
