Didn't do a commercial--I actually did a demo/training video for them. The video was a demo of a new prototype handcart. You know, to demo all the advantages of the prototype over their current carts.

In any case--it was done for Frito-Lay. That's the important thing :)

Very cool hotwire132002! Congrats.

Nice, but why the chroma chrome green wall?

Dunno.....it's been like that for a while. I really like it...cause...well...it's different and makes everything brighter. What would be better? White with aluminum tinted apple's stenciled on the top? :p :p :p

Just for kicks.......

Here's my room when I was using my XP Athlon XP-M 2800+ as my main computer:

It actually looks pretty nice and organized and appealing with the laptop, if you ask me. I hope to make my desk look similar upon arrival of my iBook G4.

I hope your throw out that mouse pad!! ;) :p

Actually I did. :D The mouse pad was totally textured completely wrong, making the optical mouse (and other mouse too) have a arrow "jumping" effect which was horrible.

Right now I'm using no mouse pad with my Quicksilver's pro mouse, but occasionally, I use my Captain Humor mouse pad, which gets the job done nicely.

I'm 16 and here is my setup:
I opted for a high-end mini rather than a PowerMac, although I can afford it. Honestly, the mini does everything I want FAST... and I do web design. www.phantom9.us is my site incase you wanna check out what I do. I saved like $1500 by not going with a PowerMac, and I will soon be getting a very, very, nice Scion TC ;)

1.42 GHz G4
80GB HD
Combo Drive
1 GB RAM
17" LCD
Bluetooth
Airport
Apple BT Mouse and Keyboard
80GB External HD
LaCie DVD Burner

I don't have a pic since I just bought everything but I'll try to get one soon.. there's too much work! Money is pouring into my PayPal.... :D

And to one of the posts up there: People don't want teenagers doing work for them in any field except fast food more or less. I slipped up and told a client I was 16 (usually they don't ask I don't tell) and they had some second thoughts about hiring me.. They asked me to make a logo and I did and they loved it.. so I did end up getting hired.. I didnt' realize that this company has major funding.. I thought it was gonna be a $200 job... yeah.. right...... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ I might be getting a PowerMac after all

Good for you! :)

I checked out your web site--definately wouldn't be able to tell you're sixteen based on that! Great site! Keep up the good work!

It's the same here--people look at my work and wouldn't guess I'm a teenager--but once they realize how young I am, they tend to suddenly be a bit more skeptical of my abilities. However, I usually end up getting the job anyway--and so far, my clients have always been extremely satisfied with my work. All's well that ends well, I guess. :)

By the way, what do you use for video? Final Cut and Motion? My school has a sick video studio and I'm the lead editor for a children's show that we put on the local channel. But that's just for fun.. and 2 credits. ;)

I love the background. Haha designer backgrounds.

Ive been trying to find a LV or Gucci background. its going to be a lot harder to Photoshop than the burberry. I used a 180x180pix that I merged in Elements.

Just a question for all the video editors here (namely hotwire)...
If you don't mind telling, how do you structure your pricing?
I'm 18 and leaving for college in 2 weeks, and I'm starting a business with my dad and a couple other people...and I just finished our website. (yes I know the site isn't html-friendly. I'm a video editor, not a web designer...)

Anyway I make really good money right now doing this work, but I always think I could be doing better. I have set pricing for weddings and photo montage videos, but all other video work (corporate, commercials, etc) I charge by the hour. I've been surprised at the willingness of my clients so far to pay $20-$25/hour, but my dad and I both agree that I should start charging about $35/hour through college.

Do you guys charge by the hour too, and if so, how much can you reasonably charge at your age? If not, do you just give the client a quote for the project as a whole?

Ok, while I'm here I'll participate. I'll have some pics tomorrow, but here's my setup/equipment list:

Powermac G5 dual 2ghz, 2gb RAM, 800gb HD space
Dell 2405FPW 24" LCD Monitor
Logitech MX1000 Laser Mouse
Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Speakers
Canon GL2 MiniDV camera
Bogen 3221 Tripod w/ 501 head
Sennheiser G2 wireless lav mic w/ XLR plug-on transmitter
Audio-Technica AT3031 cardiod mic
Beachtek DXA-8 XLR adapter
14" TV/DVD combo preview monitor
Epson R200 CD/DVD Printer
Canon Digital Rebel XT camera w/ 18-55mm kit lens
Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 Zoom lens

And the other member of our company owns/has access to 2 more GL2s, more tripods, tons of mics and multi-track recording equipment. Not to mention an amazing voice over talent...

This post has gone on entirely too long, so I'll stop now :)

Well here at home the family has a dell desktop and laptop, and CRT iMac.
At school (I'm a senior in HS and the editor-in-chief of the yearbook- so I practically have a office :D ) we have an emac and a powermac G4 with 17" LCD studio display. A fellow student and I are building a server right now out of an old g4 powermac; we just ordered a canon 20d digital camera (I can't wait). I'l try to post a pic tomorrow - I'm at home for once.

off to bed - going running at 5:30am

Don't Hurt Me!

Here's My Current Setup. It's a HP Pavilion 510n, 40GB, 384MB RAM, with Logitech Wireless Desktop LX700, 3rd Gen 20GB iPod, Palm Tungsten T2, Sony DRX-710UL DVD Burner, and Altec Lansing 2100's, old but great speakers. Coming up within the week hopefully because of my birthday on Friday and the fact that I have only $160 to go, my first Mac, Apple iBook G4. :D :D

I'm always happy to help people get started with video :)

The hard part is getting clients--a lot of companies tend to think that a teenager can't do as good of a job as the "established" production company.

Getting clients like Frito-Lay.... Not exactly easy.
:D
being full of ****.....very easy!

I can't be bothered to find my camera right now, but I have a 15" 1.5GHz PowerBook with a BT keyboard and mouse, and an external Drive, and hooked up to a VCR when I need it to be.

it's all good.
