Well, I posted in the main setup forum to stop and argument, so I'll post it in here.

New additions: DS Lite and Logitech 350 Headset.

I have that lamp. The lightbulb burnt through the plastic on the little reading lamp. :(

Why don't we all kiss and make up?

Anyways..... I am 17, but I relized like someone said with the cars at high school thing that I think my generation doesn't know hardship. Everyone has a new car, and iPod and a new laptop for college.....? But not made from their own hard work, no...... Mommy and Daddy pay for it all. Quiet frankly I'm sick of it. Many of my friends get new cars and computers for their birthday or a holiday....... I just think its a bad idea like was stated earlier. I think everyone should "pave their own path" and sometimes help is welcome, but like in something like starting a business, or paying for college. Anyway, I pay for it all myself and I'm proud of it.

Oh so true. Heck I am 21 and some of my friends drive around in 30000 dollar cars that their daddies gave them. Oh and the whole point at my life where people stop living in the dorms and now in houses is really interesting. I actually have a "friend" who got pissed at me since I said I could not afford to live with him in a 400 dollar plus place a month just for rent (no car stuff food or cloths) and I will be working 20hrs a week as well as completeing my degree in mech engineering this year.

This is the same kid who never had a job except for being a basebal ump one summer for little kids and the oh so hard yard work he has to do for his family (doesnt everybody do that at some point? lol). And yea doesnt pay for his car, comp or even his rent bill......his parents do. And he got mad at me for not understanding some people aren't bumming off their parents like his is!

Sad thing is about half of my friends fit this category

And yea I am jealous in a way but it feels good supporting ones self.......just wish I had the option to bum off my parents
haha

Oh I have a macbook btw with 512 ram. Just right for me and my engineering duties lol. No need for a freaking macpro and I really don't know how people who don't need one can justify getting one...just so expensive

You're probably much better off then them any way. I hate to think what's going to happen to your friends when their parents decide to cut them off.

Well I hope for the best. At least they are making the most out of college and not just partying like so many kids do these days. Guess its not good to be so critical since everybody's situation in life is different.

Oh to be the son or daughter of a gates, jordan, dare I say bush lol

Well if it's some kind of arrangement were the parents say "if you get good marks in all of your courses then we will support you through college" that way they don't have anything to worry about besides classes, my parents had an agreement like that with me.

That's exactly how I feel. All my friends (and most everyone at my school, for that matter) have everything handed to them. One of my friends has a super nice Camaro SS, is 17 years old, and had his parents buy it for him, cover the insurance, and he doesn't even have a job. It seems like everything that I work so hard for, is handed to everyone else. I wanted highspeed internet, I pay for it each month. I wanted a car, I got a job at 15 at a fastfood restauraunt, saved for over a year, and bought a car. I pay for my insurance each month, my gas, and everything else I want. I've had my car unexpectidly crap out on me more than three times. Once the whole transmission went out. My ENTIRE summer savings went down the crapper. It's like I was working to fix my car, just so I could keep working. I work 30hrs/week during school (I'm a senior in highschool this year), have just shy of a 4.0GPA, am the editor-in-chief of the school paper (I hope to get scholarships in journalism to pursue a career in in either magazine editing/design or marketing), and so on.

And you know what? All my friends give me crap because I can't hang out on the weekends because I have work. It's like they think I *want* to work. What makes it even worse; I grew up pretty wealthy. My dad had new Corvettes, Camaros, Jeeps, we had nice houses. Then a few years back, my parents got divorced, and my mom doesn't see a dime of child support. I'm not trying to start a sob story, it just suck always having money, getting what you want, and then it just STOPS. Eh, I hate that, lol.

I don't give crap to people who can milk their parents. If I could, I know I would. Just be honest and admit your lucky you don't have to work to hard to have all the nice stuff you want.

Some one asked what it'll be like for them when the parents cut them off. That's what makes me the most upset. For example, my friend will be perfectly fine. He has a nice, reliable car. His parents will pay his way through college. And then he'll take over the family business; the owner of the city's animal clinic. I know I'll work harder than him all my life, and yet he'll always be more successful than me. Ugh.

I really admire people who work for their gear. I admit myself that I have had things easy in my life but I feel as if I justify for the things I get by getting good marks and working my butt off at uni. But for people who pay their own gear my hat goes off to them and I think it will definitely serve you well (your work ethic) down the track

Well if apple would get their act together and would put Composite and/or S-Video inputs in their Cinema Displays are not charge 2x as the dell monitor, perhaps I would buy an apple.

well, okay, but you get the idea? he's only 15-15. I don't think he has to pay gasbill and such;)

Also, iGary, off-topic, are you gonna get a rev. B MacBook Pro and a MacPro when PS go universal?
