Not sure if I should get the new Fold or wait for the Pixel 9 Pro. I tried an S24 Ultra for about 3 hours before returning it because I just didn't like One UI so much. I think my distaste for One UI might be balanced out by the novelty of a fold form factor which I've wanted to try for a while, so I'm willing to give the Fold 6 a go.

I've liked what Pixel have been doing these past few years and the Pixel 9 Pro looks really promising. Stock Google Android really is the best Android experience as far as I can tell.

It's looking good

I think the buds are also going to blow us away
Not really interested in the new buds… not too fond of Samsung copying Apple with the stem designed. I like their current design better... but perhaps Samsung feels limited and can’t really add additional features. I don’t know… but I am planning on keeping my current ones.

Now, the Galaxy Watch Ultra… I’d definitely scoop that up. My Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is getting terrible battery life and with these upcoming AI features… I’d want something more capable.

Stock Android is a really great experience (really like their whole notification layout, including quick settings tiles), it’s just lacking in features for me.

think my next foldable is between pixel 9 pro fold or vivo fold 3 pro which seems best foldable on the market from many I have spoken to.

lets see what Samsung offer with fold 6. hopefully rumours are false.

Both.

I tried AirPods Pro (used it with my iPad) awhile back and I prefer the fit of the Galaxy Buds.

I know folks mention the hardware on other foldables... but software is just as important. It's like Samsung is trying to be the next Apple in this regard lol (because it was always the spec war when it came to Android, but Apple had the advantage when it came to software experience).

I haven't tried out any other foldable, but the "can't have two different screens on the inner and outer display" would annoy me. No need to even mention... Good Lock.

Is sound at par?
Personally, for me... and let me preface this by saying I'm no audiophile. I do like a good base sound, but not to the point where it sounds muffled.

They both were similar, but unlike the AirPods... Buds came with an equalizer to tweak the sound. However, when it came to noise cancelation... I think the AirPods were better.

I use Buds Pro 2 strictly with the Fold and AirPods Max with my iPad... I do have wired Sony earbuds (MDRXB50AP) and I'm not sure if I bought the Google or Samsung USB-C adapter for it.

I think when it does come to software I think it's far closer now than it was. Samsung software is obviously very strong fort foldable but there comes a time where software can only take you so far for the price foldable cost. after using one plus open the software was very good and close to Samsungs experience. vivo fold 3 pro from all accounts on Chinese rom the software is better than the global version. it is missing good lock which is great but all the other boxes it does tick from people who I have spoken to who have the device and it costs a massive £600 less than Samsungs offerings or even googles.

pixel fold software I think needs more to be added to it if I'm honest. it doesn't even have floating windows just spilt screen and you can't customise as much as others.

where Samsung needs to improve is with the cameras for the cost cameras need to be better. lets see what google brings with their new fold camera wise. if they make it same as the current pixel 9 line they have a big advantage here.

How has the battery life been?

I always fear investing in buds because of the risk of eventually having to throw them away

I would rather buy the more expensive “over the ear” headphones for long term usage guarantee

No disagreement with on the cameras... Samsung definitely needs to improve, but I just find it odd that software doesn't come into the discussion in regard to foldables.

Battery life is good... but my approach is to use one bud at a time, so I can't really gauge the battery life performance. And the only reason why I bought the Buds 2 Pro... I lost one of my Buds Pro.

I could have kept using my Buds Pro lol.

Yeah, but I like using earbuds for on-the-go. Or when I'm outside doing yard work... cardio or anything exercise related.

Now when it comes to the AirPods Max... I use that at the desk or if I'm stationary for a long period.

To be fair I think software is in the discussions I just think there isn’t much of a gap in software these days. Foldables have made a good jump for software on foldables as they have developed so hardware is a bigger factor due to the gap closing in software

I don't know... as soon as the OnePlus Open and Pixel Fold entered the market, they were praised for being the best foldable yet!

Look at the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro... it's now the foldable king! Because I think hardware is the "hot" thing for foldables right now... who has the better cameras? who has the larger cover display? Don't get me wrong... I know some are doing great with software features.

OnePlus come to mind with the Canvas feature for multitasking and it's dope they support stylus... although, it's not available globally. I like what they did with their dock and the document picker, but it seems Samsung goes unnoticed with the number of features and optimization they have added throughout these years.

Do the Flippable phones also count in this category of Foldables? Considering getting the Razr 50 ultra as a second phone. Perfect small pocket phone imo.

I have the Buds Pro and Buds Live. I love the design of both, especially the Buds Live bean design. The fit and feel is just absolutely perfect. Been waiting forever for a next gen Buds Live, but I guess that's never coming. :(

IMO, if Samsung is going with the steam design, then they better add squeeze and slide functions like the Air Pods Pro. One thing I don't like about Samsung buds is the touch functions, cause every slight touch activates something. I can't even put them in and out my ear with it activating. I had to enable "block touches" and learn to live with that.

I agree with this.

That's why I think Samsung is copying Apple's design... because they can add AirPods features to it (slide and squeeze). And yeah, touch functions can be annoying... I still keep mine enabled. But have you tried different options... there's double tap, triple tap and touch & hold.

I lowkey wish Samsung would go even further with this new change in design and copy JBL too lol.

What is the point of having a screen on your headphones case?
You probably think it's redundant when you can take your phone out to find these settings... but the screen will display all the settings that you normally find in the app.

However, the point you ask... not having to pull out the phone lol.

Yeah i think it's just because samsung were first and set the standard and just not added much hardware over the years. Hardware will always get the headlines for all devices I guess.

Certainly! Hardware gets the headlines... no doubt about it. I understand the game... but like Apple with the iPhone, they don't change much over the years neither (yet they stay in demand).

Personally, I'm more interested in the software over the hardware... the perfect foldable made would be the Pixel Fold passport-style with Samsung controlling the software experience. And since you had the OnePlus Open (if I'm not mistaken), how often did you use the cover display on the foldable?

Out of curiosity, what’s your issues with the One UI?

I don't like the aesthetic and there is no UX consistency across apps and OS features. It's all very disjointed. Some apps had small text, others had comically big text, etc. A big one is animations don't feel like they were designed to be organic such that they follow whatever the user's finger is doing.

For example when swiping up to go home or opening multitasking on the S24 vs. iPhone. When I go home by flicking up on iPhone the app window follows my finger exactly. If you flick to the right a bit the window moves in that direction as it's minimizing before settling on its original location on the home screen. It's like someone implemented physics into the OS and that my finger is the driving force behind that app minimization animation. Flick faster and the animation is more violent. Flick slowly and the animation is gentle. On Android it's like I would flick and a pre-canned animation would fire off. No physics, no personality, nothing to make the experience feel organic like I'm somehow involved in the process of going back to the home screen.

For Android in general there is no clear design language DNA that exists throughout the different app experiences. It was a mess to be perfectly honest with you, I really didn't like it. I downloaded a bunch of the same apps I use on iOS and the design language between them was all off, like each one was made from scratch completely separate from one another. On iOS those same apps feel like they were made using the same base elements. I'm not anti Android but using the S24 for a short while really made me appreciate iOS and Apple's design guidelines/SDKs a lot more. Again, consistent text size across iOS apps really makes the experience feel polished. 1Password on Android, Chrome, Settings app, and a bunch of others all had different text and button sizes like someone hit the randomize button on window scaling for each.

Android felt like a computer with software, cold and utilitarian. iOS feels like my companion or home for interacting with the digital world, it's personable.

I liked the hardware though. The reason why I wanted to try Android was 1) out of curiosity because I haven't used it in 10 years and 2) I had high hopes for some of Google's intelligence features for stuff like real time system wide translations, etc.
