It was a nice day dream to think about it selling for $3000 but that lasted 5 seconds, I will be happy with anything over $1600 (bc that covers cost of mine)

Might consider having a wired connection to order also, just in case. Cover all bases
 
There will most certainly be eBay auctions for $3000, but as far as regular scalper prices I seriously doubt the top-of-the-line model will carry a $750 premium for more than 1 to 2 weeks.

The Apple website has been known to crash and the store app has been the best bet in past years.

It's hard to say because of all the different reports circling around... But If I had to guess I would say it slips in to Late November - December within seconds and slips in to Jan to March 2018 within minutes... remeber they have to set aside inventory for Apple stores and carrier stores as well.

If it is like the 8, preorders went live at 2am CDT. Since daylight savings time doesn't end until November 5, it may possibly be the same time

I don't look up anyone's tag line. I don't care to.

My stance was just that if he wanted to know what scalpers are charging...go to eBay, CL, and similar sites.

Asking us here is not the optimal route.

Let’s see how limited it is

We can’t predict numbers but if USA gets bulk of the shipments prices will be high since those overseas will want them BADLY
 
In India, prior to Indian launch, USD 2000-4000 has been the norm for iPhones like iPhone 7 Plus Jet Black etc.
 
Why would anyone pay 2000-4000 for a phone that is going to be old in a year? Its just irrational
