Huh. okay. darn, I was hoping maybe only blue eyes would say they have issues. Oh well! (That's was theory anyways: I have blue eyes and astigmatism.)I have green eyes.

Maybe I shouldn’t share this info because once you see it you’ll never be able to un-see it again… but since you asked…can you actually see any flickering?
Just out of curiosity, how does one switch back to the iPhone 7 for a few days? I think they activated an eSim in the phone I got at the Apple store and deactivated my iPhone 8+. Just wondering how I might be able to switch between them.
I have the Mini and have been playing with settings to see if I can get used to it. I want to love it...
Thanks for this. Might try this when I go back to the 13P to keep testing it. I am currently back to using my 7 for the weekend to see if migraines go away.Maybe I shouldn’t share this info because once you see it you’ll never be able to un-see it again… but since you asked…
1. In a dark room set your OLED iPhone to minimal brightness.
2. Open the Notes app to an empty note so the screen is totally white.
3. Hold the phone at arm’s length and quickly swing it past your eyes with the screen facing you while you stare straight ahead in the distance- not looking directly at the phone.
4. With your eyes not moving and still staring forward, pay attention to the screen you’re swinging quickly past your vision.
5. peripherally, you’ll clearly be able to see the screen flashing on and off like a freaking strobe light (because it is a strobe light) as it passes your field of vision.
if you do that same test with an LCD iPhone, the screen will just look like a white blur (because LCDs flicker faster than what can be perceived by humans >1000 hz)
Sorry to ruin your day. But sometimes seeing reality for what it really is - is painful
Congratulations on your new phone. But it seems strange to read “new two year old phone”. Back in the 90s, people would save up for 3 years to buy an expensive television or a stereo set but they would still be considered as latest model even after 3 years since launch because the companies do not update their products on yearly basis. During early and mid 2000s, Sony Ericsson do not update their phones as often. Those phones would be bought with the feeling of owning a completely new device even after buying them 2 years after their launch. Now that we have yearly updates of each model, and some Chinese companies update their phone every 6 months, we tend to wait for the latest model. And 2 year old phone would be often considered as a completely archaic model. It’s here! Never thought I’d be so happy to have a new two year old phone 🤓🤣
Headphones & Charger included too!!
Those were the days!
Brown eyes. No astigmatism. I answer because I love experiments and am enthused to hear the data.Okay… experimental question. If you have issues, do you also have blue eyes? Blue eyes are more sensitive to light, causing photophobia? (Heard about this a few random places.)
Yay! I’m excited for you! Because I held on to my 11, I just went back to it after I returned the 13PM, and I gotta say: I’m really happy. It’s a good size, weight, curved sides, screen, screen, screen. It just feels good. Hope you have fun with it, too. It’s here! Never thought I’d be so happy to have a new two year old phone 🤓🤣

Yes to having blue eyes and astigmatism. I wear contact lenses and having a recent eye test, I was told my vision has improved due to age.Okay… experimental question. In simplistic terms this is the balance system freaking as it can't resolve what your eyes are seeing vs what the brain can process. Be very careful if you don't want to be left with more permanent vestibular issues.13 Pro users some weird situations have started happening to me. For reference I‘ve never really had an issue with motion sickness, extreme eye strain/soreness, dizziness or any of this from my iPhone. Like you could spin me around in a chair then put me on a roller coaster and then a motion simulator and I would be completely fine. I have owned X and 11 pro used in cars etc. never had the issues people were talking about on here.
However, this past Saturday I was sitting passenger seat in a car driving home looking at my phone and all the sudden I felt really nauseous. For reference low power mode so refresh was dropped to <60 and dark mode enabled. I had to keep looking out the window because looking at my phone felt worse, and almost told the driver to pull over. At the time I thought it was because I was drinking earlier in the day (very little, but high altitude) and had gotten very little sleep the night before.
Cut to last night I got home from a workout and was laying on the couch editing a video in iMovie on my 13 pro. Switching between preview and edit mode (especially with HDR footage) causes the brightness to jump around and I’m sure the adaptive refresh rate to change too (gliding through timeline, previewing clips, moving clips around etc.) All the sudden I got a really weird vertigo feeling that I’ve practically never experienced before. I thought maybe it was caused by being slightly light headed from my workout and the angle I was laying at but now I’m thinking it could have been from the phone? Especially since it happened right when the screen brightness was changed after previewing an HDR clip.
So now I’m second guessing myself… I will need to continue to monitor closesly if it happens again and see if it’s phone related. I really hope I don’t have to get rid of my 13 pro especially as the return window is quickly closing.
In general though I’ve had way too much screen time this year, so much of it feels unavoidable though. Also general pro tip USE NIGHT SHIFT DURING THE DAY and evenings on your iOS devices/Mac. (F.lux or nightlight on windows). The default settings aren’t that intense so crank it up. It will look way too yellow at first but by the end of the week you will hardly notice. This helps me sleep so much better and reduced any eye strain I had from night viewing/red sore eyes in the morning! If the colors bother you while looking at a photo or video you can quickly toggle it off/on in control center.
I got a MagBak case for my 11, and a magnetic wallet as well as a magnetic car mount. Super strong magnets, can still use the wireless charger and it's almost like I have a MagSafe phone now.For those staying with an 11, like me, apple only sells the silicone case in white now. Black is listed but sold out. All other colors are no longer offered. So if you like Apple silicone cases, i suspect they might not sell them in the near future so get em while they last. I just got a spare as my current one already has a crack on the side.

Yes I bought an additional white case recently and I presently scrounging the internet for other colors. Have a black, surf blue (?), and pink sand. For those staying with an 11, like me, apple only sells the silicone case in white now. Black is listed but sold out. How do those compare to Apple silicone cases? Especially in the feel of it?I got a MagBak case for my 11, and a magnetic wallet as well as a magnetic car mount. Super strong magnets, can still use the wireless charger and it's almost like I have a MagSafe phone now.
Cool. MagSafe for the rest of us. Their website video says the wallet holds up to 6 cards. Do you happen to know how many cards it would hold at a minimum before things get too loose and risk sliding out (I prefer to carry only 2-3 cards)?I got a MagBak case for my 11, and a magnetic wallet as well as a magnetic car mount. I think they're great. The MagBak branding is a bit too prominent, but they feel pretty good to me.How do those compare to Apple silicone cases? Especially in the feel of it?
When I first got it, I put 3 cards in - ID, credit, bank card. It's rock solid. I think if you put in just one, it wouldn't slide out either.Cool. MagSafe for the rest of us. It doesn't work for me even at 50% brightness. The only choices for a new phone now are 11 and SE 2020, and IMO the latter is horrible value since they have not changed the price since introduction and they even dropped the charging brick since then.By comparison it looks like the 12 series only flickered below 25% brightness. Could I buy a 12 and keep the brightness up or did everyone have issues with that as well?
