I transferred my Sim from my iPhone 14 Pro back to my 11 today and ran into the same thing. Don't know who your carrier is, but I got on the phone with a Verizon rep who had me do a few settings and then sent me a QR code. Took a little while but he was really awesome. I know a lot of people complain about Verizon like the other carriers but personally I've always had pretty decent customer service from them. Good luck!
I have Verizon too so I’ll try reaching out to them but I’m not the account owner which always complicates things. Do your recall what settings he had you change before he sent you a code?

Apple's display technology come from Samsung Display, primarily. Samsung is a terrible company. (I'll save that rant for another time...) Samsung's best efforts are currently focused on 1920 Hz PWM technology.

Apple only uses technologies that are available to them. I am hoping LG Display creates a viable non-PWM solution.
Do you have read rumors about that Samsung Display is working on a OLED Display with 1920 Hz PWM frequency? I have only seen the rumor for the new E6 display that could have 1440 Hz PWM frequency and we could see this display on Xiaomi 13 Pro and other brands from China. The currently OLED displays with 1920 Hz PWM Frequency should come from BOE and TCL.

So sad to read that it seems that there is not a meaningful change in better PWM implemention for the iPhone 14 Pro/Max :(

I have had my iPhone 11(64gb) for over 3 years and am dying to get a new phone. I had to return iPhone 11pro when I had constant headaches and eye strain for a week, since then I had opportunities to use 12 Mini, 13 and 13pro max on and of but never for a really long period of time. I didn't develop any immediate headaches from those usage but my eyes always felt funny. I cannot say they made me feel bad, just not as comfortable as looking at the iPhone 11 screen for me.

Today I was at the Apple store playing with iPhone 14pro for about 20 minutes, again, no headaches but my eyes still felt a little funny. I don't know if it's due to PWM or I'm just adjusting to OLED screen. I feel slightly hopeful and maybe will try to order an iPhone 14pro this year(looked at 14 as well, but I really like the look of pro version better). I love how the silver version looks, way better than the silver regular 14. I'm hoping once I'm adjusted to the new phone, it won't be an issue. Good luck everyone, please keep sharing your experiences with the new phones.

Today has been largely the same as my first day with iPhone 14 Pro Max, which is to say that there are headaches but they’re subdued compared to just two generations prior. It’s possible my 14” MacBook Pro is biasing results.

That being said, there should be no headaches at all from an iPhone which is the greatest dilemma. We just have limited options.

Believe it or not I minimize the extent and impact of the headaches I’m having from new Apple products, as they are still relatively severe even if I adjust temporarily.

At some point when you can, have the owner contact Verizon and have them “check a box” that grants you online access, I think they call it. We just had to do that because while I’m the “manager” I’m not the “owner.” Crikey.

For those who haven’t purchased a phone yet and are waiting on reviews here….

I’m on Day 3 and no noticeable headaches. My partner and I are experiencing allergies right now, so headaches I’ve had have been (mild and) accompanied by congestion—so I don’t think it’s the phone.

For me, the lack of flickering REALLY helps.

My best proof: my partner used to have a 12P. If he left it face up and screen still lit, I would literally—from a few feet away—ask him to turn his phone over. Bless him, he has obliged each time. I haven’t done it once since he got a 14P. That’s big for me.

Still testing. Still prefer the 11 in low light, but not even sure any phone is good in low light.

I write now just to share some positive. We have a lot of people who are suffering—and that’s awful—but the phones seem to be improving, even if not improving enough. This could be a good sign. 👌🏻

So I’m thinking there might be an issue with Auto-Brightness (I had this happen with my 12PM). For those of you struggling with eye strain, try turning AB off and see if there’s a difference. For me there is a night and day difference in the clarity of the content on the screen and the strain on my eyes.

Which phone are you doing well with? The 14 Pro? I have lost track with everyone lol.

I lose track, too. I was thinking we need some sort of spreadsheet for all our info with symptoms, history, you know let’s do this scientifically.

I’m using a 14PM but am trying to find a 14P for the possible higher PWM frequency and because apparently I don’t love big phones as much as I used to.

This could be my imagination, but I thought I’d ask if anyone else experienced something like this….

In low-light rooms, I sometimes feel…a tightness in my chest? It seems to go away when I stop using the phone. More investigation to follow. Anybody else?

This is a first for me, but I thought I experienced some chest tightness as well on Friday that I’m not sure can be attributed to iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Sorry I wasn't clear. He tried a few things and then had me go into my settings and read him the IMEI number and then he did some stuff on his end. I don't really remember what he did but it took a couple of tries.

Yeah I don’t know. Haven’t felt it outside. Only inside with low light. But I’m willing to compromise some—not by using a phone that causes chest pain, but to use other devices in those places/times. Maybe.

I’m just really using this phone a lot right now when IRL I spread out my screen use to various devices.

So since getting my iPhone 14 Pro on Friday afternoon I've looked at it a lot with all the set up and then just checking everything out, hours and hours.

I still had minimal symptoms compared to what some people are experiencing. Today I transferred my SIM back over to my 11 and used that exclusively today other than just looking at my 14 for a little bit in the morning. What a difference.

When you are trying to make something work and excited about it, you put up with a little bit of discomfort or don't focus on it.

But you do notice when that discomfort is gone and you can look at your phone and feel no adverse effect at all.

Even though my symptoms were minimal with the 14, the absence of it and using my old 11 was a lot more relaxing.

I wrote an inaccuracy on the previous post! The company phone is a samsung A52S ( I forgot the "S" in previous posts), and it's still a 120hz OLED and give me zero issue (it's also a better panel, my 14P seems wash out)! The PWM is low 230hz like the iphone X and the pixel 4a, so maybe i like the low frequency!

After the first weekend with the iPhone 14 Pro, here are my conclusions: My eyes hurt a little and I have a bit of motion sickness. I could take it, but I don't want to. Therefore, the iPhone 14 Pro is going back. I have now ordered an iPhone 14 because the PWM flickers in the Zollotech video and looks the same as on the iPhone 12 Pro. Which I still use with no problems. I hope now that I can tolerate the iPhone 14 as well as the iPhone 12 Pro. Then I would have a better camera, a better battery, a better chip, etc. I don't need the telephoto lens, and I don't care about 120Hz either. Hoping for me to be surprised tomorrow.

Have you ever tried the Iphone X? It was good for you?

That was the worst iPhone for me!

It means that you are not sensitive to the PWM because the iphone X and 12 pro have almost the same PWM frequency!

In fact, the first time I was "sick" in front of a display was in 2016 when I tried to change my CCFL monitor with PWM to a 4K LED flicker free!

So I used the 14 Pro for hours yesterday. Maybe 10 hours in total. My eyes were fine and I had no migraine.

Today I’ve woken up with severe pain behind my eyeballs and I’ve had to take sick leave from work. I haven’t even used the phone this morning. So I’ve set up a return.

As @kerplunknet said previously don’t push yourselves too much. If I’d had this pain while using it yesterday I would’ve stopped. I thought I was ok but I know for sure this has to be returned.

Back on my 11 and it’s actually fine. I can live with it for another while.

Having had some issues with the XS Max, 12 Pro and 13 Pro Max which I’ve always eventually got used to, 3 days in with my 14 Pro Max and I’m finding this one much better. No really concerns so far. For those that are testing out the 14 Pro for a short period I would really recommend turning off attention awareness in face ID settings. As far as I know this blasts IR at you and I think this does bother my eyes and I always turn it off. The short duration face ID is used to unlock of authenticate is fine but not having it on all the time

I'm tempted to give the 14 a go after the small amount of positive feedback despite the flicker being present in Zollotech's review - The biggest issue is trading in the 11 to then find out the 14 is still the migraine generator the 13 was, then stuck with no option to get another 11 as it's been removed from the line-up - I'm waiting for notebook check's review and hopefully some more positive experiences with the vanilla 14 before going forward - just to clarify did @kerplunknet have issue with the iPhone 14? someone mentioned in passing
