Hey - if this new setting disables PWM only at low brightness levels, that’s good enough for me. I’ll just use it in dim light- which is the opposite of what I’ve resorted to.
My 6S plus on iOS 15 is getting a bit old.

Is the setting to disable PWM in the display settings or have they buried it away in some sub menu in the advanced settings for the display I wonder?

According to MR article:
"There will be a toggle located in the Display and Text Size section of the Accessibility settings on the ‌iPhone 17 Pro‌. Users will be able to turn PWM on, or turn it off. "

Incoming optimistic post: I think coming to 17 Pro only might be a good sign, as it may mean the control is tied in at a deeper hardware level. Not just a slapped on software fix.

With all do respect who cares if it’s only the pros but working. I am still with iPhone 11 and it’s a daily hurdle. 5 years with a slow motion laggy smartphone.
Exactly how I feel. After so many years of saving money from not upgrading, I think I can handle a slightly more expensive upgrade this time around — so long as PWM is finally going to be sorted on it.

Really, really hoping that I can move off my iPhone 13 Pro without fear of the screen impacting me. It’s literally worth getting for that alone.

This is so huge for them do anything with this issue. Even if it doesn't fix it completely, it at least shows someone at Apple is thinking about this subject.

That are really great news that Apple finally at least offer a option in the setting. How good it is we will see. After a long break now is the right time to try my luck with the iPhone 17 Pro Max 😊

I will also buy a matte and privacy screen protector to try this also with the option. I have read good feedback about a privacy screen protector that also reduces blue light here. I can't remember the manufacturer anymore. It was more expensive one like 30-40 Euro. Has someone a idea or could recommend one?

This is the most incredible news ever. Getting mine day 1. I’ve been getting used to the 16 plus and it’s pain free when I use medicated eye drops however that is not a long term solution. Oled without pwm. We can only dream that this is the solution. Crossing fingers.

"We have confirmed that the PWM toggle is available on the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. It's also likely available on the iPhone Air."

Even better. So 17 in black or 17 Pro in Deep Blue 🤔. Price isn't the issue, I still think 17 will be enough and looks cleaner (less clutter) - But if it’s essentially using the same display as the 16 Pro with no hardware changes, then this feature is almost certainly software-based. Which makes you wonder… Apple could have enabled it years ago?
