Yesterday i went for an eyes check and everything is perfect with my eyesight. All these experiments haven’t ruined anything. I have the usual eye dryness (which is normal) because of my PRK procedure 10 years ago….. it’s not that big but more than the average person. So yesterday my doctor advised me to just increase my eye drops for twice a day (instead of once) in periods i feel eye dryness. And voila today i wake up even without eye dryness at all. iPhone AIR is still holding perfect even with my usual 4 hours screen time each day…. Zero headaches.

In the next 2-3 months i ll try to search for an iPhone 17 Pro with a Samsung G9Q panel and see how to goes. Reason is that as much as i love air i STILL need a smaller iPhone for pure one hand use! Air is super light but still taller than a 17/17 Pro.

Long time lurker here... still rocking an iPhone 11.
The iPhone X alerted me to the fact that I couldn't bare OLEDs at that time. Migranes. Fuzzy vision. Tiredness. Was almost instant.

I have been riding out my time with iPhone 11.
I need to upgrade at some point. Maybe soon.

I have tried the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro in store a number of times. With PWM setting turned on (for what that is worth). Reduce motion. Reduce transparency.

Sometimes I walk away feeling fine! Other times, mild discomfort

I am going to try a 17 or 17pro soon - taking advantage of the extended return period to try it in the wild. Stores are lit horribly. And are not a good example of actual real-world usage,

QUESTION - From what I have read, both the 17 and 17Pro share the same screens now (screen lottery aside; Samsung vs LG). Unless I am mistaken? I don't really want to pay extra for the Pro, but if it is demonstrably better for sufferers, I will do so

Thoughts? Anyone having success with standard 17?

Ta!

I got a 17 about a month ago, and didn't really notice any issues. Now, around 40 days later, my one eye is in a lot of pain, and even laptop and LCD monitors that I'm generally OK using, are causing more stress.

I've switched back to my 13 that still has iOS 18, but I'm not happy.

It seems more related to 26.1 than 26.0 or 26.0.1.

you could try the settings i suggest a few posts back.....

Are there any color/size combos that are more likely to have the “better” screens?
It seems the Air is the best as it has the lowest amount of different panels/suppliers? It shouldn’t vary by color or probably any other metric, although an argument could be made for putting the best yield of displays in the higher storage capacities. Logically I’m still leaning towards the Pro and hoping I get a display that looks and feels great on the first try. I’m still trying to hold out on demoing them all before purchasing.

Offtopic kinda: yesterday i went to a friend of mine to check what panel his 17 pro has and it was with LG so i didnt care to ask him to use it for couple of days to see if its similar to my Air..... but when i hold that thing even the small Pro felt like a heavy brick and a lot thicker. I suggest anyone to NOT try the air first because you will probably be spoiled :p..... also the larger screen on the Air on that thin/light factor is very noticeable different compared to 17 Pro which feels more restrictive......so now my interest to try a 17 Pro is completely gone....and to be honest that boxy rectangle form factor when you compare it to Air felt very old school. If i am gonna try sth else down the road it would be only the non pro 17.

So basically True Tone and night shift mode on is the best settings to try out?

I dont know if what works for me will work for everyone...i just know 4 redditors that made it work with those settings.... we have been battling in this topic to found a solution the last 7-8 years. So just try and see...my issues started with iphone XS.

1)you must found an air with G9Q samsung panel
2)true tone on / night shift always on at around 70%
3)Display Zoom set to larger text / also enlarge text size 2-3 dots more on accessibility settings
4)PWM toggle on
5)reduce motion and prefer cross fade transitions on
6)Liquid Glass tinted
7)Light Mode On (appearance)

Has anyone had any issues from Apple about the amount of phones they keep returning. I have got through loads trying them out. Some I know straight away but others take a lot longer. I was viewing my order history and there are loads of them.

I’ve asked Apple retail higher-ups about this and this only really becomes an issue if they can detect a pattern of abuse; I.e., a hypothetical I could come up with would be someone returning an iPhone every 14 days for a year or 200 iPads at a time quarterly. There is no hard limit.

I personally try to be mindful, which is why I haven’t even ordered an iPhone yet this generation as I’m still deciding, but it does get discouraging knowing there’s a higher chance this iPhone purchase will culminate in flicker feedback and disappointment.

Tried a launch day 17 Pro in Cosmic Orange and it sort of worked for me but not quite.
Decided to try again and took delivery of a silver 17 pro on November 6.

Well, the return window came and went and the 17 Pro is a keeper.

I feel fortunate, but also frustrated that we all have to go through this.
I feel lucky that I appear to be less sensitive that some.

I feel for all of you that can't even use an 11 due to dithering, etc.

What a mess.

I’m not a fan of having panel variance, as I’m discerning enough to notice a difference that some may not. I brought the difference up to the sjobs email a long time ago when two MacBook Pro’s appeared significantly different in an Apple Store. It’s less acceptable with a Pro device as these should be consistent, but I suppose it’s more difficult at the volumes that they sell.

I do think that iPad and MacBook lineups are fairly consistent today. I’m regularly stunned by the 11” Liquid Retina display on my iPad Pro.

Tried them. It's not helping. And now the phone's impossible to use because the text is all so large o_O

My poor eyes. I'm going to give it until 26.2 drops, then see if I can't return it outside of the return window if I still can't use it.
Why not return it now? What do you think will change around this in 26.2?

Remind me what iPhone you got and screen panel ?

Well I'm way out of the 14 day return window, and it was perfectly fine with 26.0 and 26.0.1. Apple did something for 26.1 that's bothering me, and I'm hoping that they revert it.
How much is "way out"? A store manager can usually override that. But if you wait too long (say a month), they may only refund the money to a gift card. If you can tell whether it's working or not immediately, you may be better off returning it now and rebuying if it looks like they fixed the problem. I went through a painful set of buy/return with macbooks until I decided to switch to Windows. With the phones, I can tell in store itself that nothing they have produced since around iPhone 12 is workable. I did get an 11 but ended up returning it.

This is mad.

Now 2+ weeks with my TCL NXTPAPER 60 ULTRA and its going great.

Yesterday I needed to use my trusty old Iphone 11 to move some photos out of an app onto the cloud, within 5 mins I had a headache. Once your eyes get used to a new screen it simply doesn't like the old one until you've gone through an adaption period.
Now.. If only TCL would put a high end chip inside of the phone or license out the display tech to an OEM that will.
