I ordered a new iNtelMac right after the keynote last week. Ordered a 20" with 2GB RAM, 250GB HD, 256MB Video and it said estimated shipped by date of 18 Jan.
I got off the phone with Apple today and they said that they show now delay in the process and don't know why it didn't ship on the "guaranteed" date. All they could do was refund my $33 for expedited shipping and not give me any time frame of when it will ship. I was told that it could be tomorrow...but it could be as late as the end of the month if they "lost the order" WTF? I am getting really angry at this point. I just want to know when it will ship...anyone else have any problems with this?

Isn't outsourcing great? It sure would be nice if Apple took up making their own computers again, so problems like yours could be handled a little more quickly :(

I know I am just being impatient. It is just that I wanted some explanation of why they claimed shippment by the 18th, and now that it has passed, they can't tell me when at all.

I know how you feel. My iMac is scheduled to ship today, and I will be watching for this the entire time. I too will be very not happy and frustrated if it does not. Shipping on, say, the 23rd with an estimated ship date of the 23rd or later is so much better than shipping on the 23rd with an estimated ship date of the 18th or 19th, even if they are shipped the exact same time. Ah well, it will be worth it. Too bad my stupid OS and Networking classes this semester are going to require Windows so much. GAWSH!! :)

I ordered mine the same day as you, I got the same estimated ship as you but I got my dispatch on the 16th (7.30pm) and the shipping info hasn't been updated since. Getting a TEEEEEEEENY bit worried.

Same specs as you (except the RAM is 1x1gb)

Mine just got updated this morning to say also that the estimated delivery date is the 26th, a week from today. Does that mean they are going to hit their shipping date today?? :D

Wow, I put off ordering to get reports from the first wave...and to keep considering whether to get the macbook instead. Looks like my wait will be even longer.

My theory is that they seriously underestimated the volume of BTO. I used to run 1gb of ram on my 867mhz Titanium. Most people realize that 512 just isn't enough and they're upping the amount to the 1x1gb stick. Running dual cores and rosetta....people know they need more ram. The folks at Apple didn't count on everyone being able to figure that out so fast. ...same with the 256mb vram. Many folks are opting for it. It's inexpensive and hedges your bets as to how the OS/core image, aperture and games will develop. I wonder what the percentages of their orders are stock versus BTO?

So I'll bet memory and the 256mb vram graphics cards are constrainted in volume right now.

My MacBook didn't have a ship date until a couple of hours ago. It had "Estimated Shipped By" Feb. 15 for a while, but today they added "Estimated Delivered By" Feb. 21.

I have kind of had my fingers crossed that they might ship them a little sooner, but realistically I don't expect it. I'm going on a trip 2/16-18 and it would have been nice to have the new machine then, but that's not going to happen. I'll have to muddle through with my Dell for a little longer... :p

After reading NeuronBasher's post, I checked my account on the Apple Store. My order status was updated as well, and it looks like my MacBook Pro is scheduled for delevery by February 23. I'm a little dissapointed as well, I guess I just had hopes of it shipping out early.

I'm not sure if this new delivery date is based on anything but the estimated shipping date though. I'm guessing that the standard shipping takes 5-8 days, and they just added the two extremes (Feb. 15th + 8 days) for the new estimate, to be safe.

Well, I paid the extra $18 for the expedited shipping as well, so that would explain the difference between our delivery dates. I honestly don't know if the addition of the delivery date means anything either, but it's nice to see something change on the order status page since I can't help myself but check it every morning.

I was actually about to ask if you had paid for expedited shipping. That makes even more sense to me now. Seems like this isn't anything worth writing home about, but I guess it's good news that it seems like they're keeping with the Feb. 15th shipping date.

Did you do BTO? What components did you add??

You're breaking my heart, as I ordered on the 13th.... :(

Dear Apple,

Please don't send me one of these e-mails - send my iMac instead.

Thanks

I ordered the 20", 1x1GB RAM, 256MB VRAM.

Maybe this is country related. I'm in Denmark. Saw many from the US ordering a couple of days ago and already receiving their's.

I am from the US and ordered on the day of the announcement. I have been pushed back as well.

Thats exactly what they want you to think:rolleyes:. If they quoted at Feb 15, I expect that I would get it the 17 if I paid for 2 day shipping. This is just a way to give them more time while sticking with the original "ship date."

I don't think that it's "what they want you to think", but just them adding on the extreme of the estimated shipping time to the estimated shipping date, based on my example, and NeuronBasher's. I don't think that it's anything more than Apple adding two numbers together and posting them, as opposed to buying time or anything like that. I'm fully expecting that when we receive our tracking numbers, they'll still be shipped out by the estimated shipping date.

It seems peoples Imac are being delayed then why is the Apple store actually lowered the Imac's estimated ship time from 2-3 to 1-2 days? Doesn't make any sense.

Here's something that doesn't make sense... back in October I ordered two G5 iMacs. One was ordered on the 21st October. This finally arrived on the 10th November. I also ordered one on the 7th November. That one arrived on... 10th November!

Something is screwy with Apple's order of sending out units. I'm convinced that in some cases people who order first end up with units which ship much later.

If what the Apple store is showing right now is correct and 20" iMacs are shipping in 3 days or 6 days for CTO this would mean that if you order right now you will get your iMac BEFORE some of the people who ordered on the day of the keynote. You would get your iMac say in 5 days (3 to get it ready and 2 in transit with fast shipping) so let's say the 26th. Obviously this is long before some of the people in this thread who ordered much earlier but have had dates pushed back to sometime in Feb.
