I hate FedEx, and have banned them from my personal use, but I believe that as long as it disappeared after it left your control and you have the receipt, it’ll be okay.

Please tell me you have the receipt?
Shouldn't need receipt since the tracking shows it's in the FedEx network. Now that other post where they put it a dropbox and it never got scanned in is SOL.

Hopefully these thieves get caught and punished. I also hate FedEx. They "lost" my PS5 bundle that I ordered from GameStop around the launch. I was furious. Didn't wait for them to do their "investigation," I contacted GameStop who made note of it and also disputed the charge with my credit card, which was easily approved.

A month ago FedEx "lost" an Asus laptop shipped to me from Best Buy. It was on the truck for delivery to my office and then vanished. Didn't even contact FedEx, went straight to BB and they refunded the charge once they looked at the tracking info.

I've had really no issues at all with UPS, although I've read horror stories. Probably depends on region and the slime making the deliveries at any given time.

It definitely happens with both. Problem is no one does a thorough investigation. Just mark down the hubs with the "lost" packages and find the common ones and find the thieves

I ordered online for delivery at home

On IUP for last 3 years. I do in store pick up on launch day and I go back weekend after release to trade in previous device. Easy in and out. When origin is delivery you can’t go in store trade in I believe. Glad I’m within 10 mins of my local Apple Store.

When I dropped off my trade in at Fedex the associate actually rolled their eyes when I asked them for a receipt. They just wanted me to leave the package on the counter. There was a woman ahead of me who also had an iPhone to drop off and wanted a receipt.

These boxes are fairly distinctive and I'm guessing some unscrupulous workers get people to just leave their iPhones at the counter, never scan them in, and are then free to sell them fully unlocked.
Wow. Glad you insisted on a receipt. Must always get a receipt.

That’s terrible!

I picked my new iPhone at local fedex office few days ago. Before leaving, I opened the fedex box and opened apple iPhone box to make sure the iPhone was there and not a bunch of rocks.

FedEx was way better 20 years ago.

It's so nice it's like that now. The first few years of IUP when they required you to go to the store launch day was miserable. Even with an appointment it was over 2+ hours of waiting in line.

Just got off the phone with Apple, and 45min later, they've submitted an investigation and claim with FedEx. I should "hear from apple in 24-48 hours".

I have no doubt in my mind, that the packages were stolen. Both iPhone trade-ins have the same scans, and disappeared after being marked a departed from the local hub. I bet someone at the local hub, or the driver taking them to the next location swiped them.

FedEx has not lost my trade in (yet), but it has been significantly delayed. They sent it from CA to PA when it was going to NorCal. It was supposed to arrive on last Tuesday and still has not been delivered.

I don’t know why Apple continues to use Fedex for this purpose. In fact, our return boxes were delivered by UPS! I think Fedex outsources too much of its ground delivery services and that’s where the thefts and poor service are happening.

It would be better if they just told you to keep the original delivery box and then mail an envelope with the return label, padded sleeve, and stickers in it to use with the original outer packaging. Also to use UPS at least for us.

Happened to me last year and the phone ended up being delivered much later than scheduled. FedEx even opened an investigation and it didn’t go anywhere.

Do you have to pick up your new phone at the store, or can you have it delivered and then drop off the old phone at an Apple store? I have done in-store trade ins when I pick up my phone, but never considered it an option when I have a phone delivered.
Nope. I had an iPad Pro delivered by UPS and brought my trade-in to the local Apple Store. The rep checked it out and my credit was issued immedately.

Mine was stolen from Fed Ex last year. Apple tried to charge me for the stolen phone but finally after a month accepted that it was stolen. It was a pain in the butt.

I shipped back two iPhones using the kits provided and got a FedEx receipt. One is tied to my Apple ID and the other to my wife's even though the loan is under my name. Mine arrived and got am email saying return completed. My wife received an email from Apple saying they have not received anything and asked to reply. I checked the email and header and it was Apple's so we replied with tracking number and scan of the receipt. The next day the status changed to "We Received your iPhone" and "We are inspecting your iPhone". It's been at this status for a week now and the old loan on CitizenOne says "On Hold". Never had this happen before.

Apple ended up closing both loans out. After about 2 days, I got an email saying the loans was closed out. It was very hassle free and easy only took 2 phone calls and the rep on the phone was super helpful.

Thanks for updating. Every instance I remember seeing on here has worked out in the end.

I had the same problem last year and stuck in transit and never delivered again this year as well... It takes some arguing but last year I was credited and have begun the same conversation this year. It appears they have a Fedex issue maybe they are getting taken at a hub. Idk

**update**. They closed my IUP but my phone still shows undelivered on tracking. All good on my end.

I'm encountering a similar issue but rather than being lost, the device appears to have been damaged in transit. One week now since the most recent tracking entry and I haven't heard anything from Apple. I dropped the device off directly at a FedEx corporate location and have a receipt.

Is it the regular 1-800-MYAPPLE number I call and give them the web order number to find out what's going on?

Yes, I just called the general apple number and said I lost a package when it asked the reason why I was calling.

last year I used a FedEx Dropbox and my phone was stolen, after filing a police report and emailing Tim and speaking with executive support, they gave me my credit. This year I drove to a local FedEx kinkos and got a receipt. It got to the trade in fine this time. Fedex is a horrible carrier and ever year phones get stolen by them, and apple knows, their executive support told me that it’s only a small percentage and Apple deals with it.

Fedex loves to not deliver to my address too and claim I’m not home, it happens with almost 3very package. Then they miraculously find me porn attempt 2 or 3. Awful carrier.
