FedEx MBP Shipping Speed?

Hey, asking all the 2.0 guys, how long did it take from the time FedEx received your package til it arrived on your doorstep? I paid for 2 business day shipping, mine shipped this MORNING, and FedEx is telling me it's going to take until Monday! Also, mine missed the cutoff date for leaving China today so it won't leave until tomorrow, but still, that is more than 2 business days by Friday evening to get here!

BTW, I contacted FedEx, and they claim that Apple will NOT let you pick it up at the local FedEx facility, even IF you are the receiver (also called Apple to verify this and it is true)! They must make one delivery attempt according to their contract with Apple. Also, they cannot arrange to add Saturday delivery service even at your expense. Thought I'd tell everyone this in advance who hasn't had theirs shipped.

Anyways, help me out 2.0 guys who already have their MBP's and let me know whether there's any chance that it'll arrive by Friday, I sure hope so because it's being delivered to my house 40 miles away and I'll be home there all weekend, so it would really be awesome to get it Friday and not have to make 2 trips home!
 
Yes, it's possible if it doesn't meet any customs problems. If it gets to Indianapolis by tomorrow evening (7ish) you should be golden. Otherwise it will be a long weekend.

In the meantime you should get on the horn with Apple and get a shipping refund. There is NO guaranteed 2 day service from China. It can happen, but it's not guaranteed. Moreover, whether you paid for expedited shipping or not, you get expedited shipping. In other words, if you paid for shipping you paid for nothing because the people who picked free ground end up with free express.

Already did :) . Got a shipping refund, anyone else's who shipped today after the cutoff date who won't get 2 business day shipping should as well!

Yeah, I figured out that I paid for nothing after reading these forums. However, my reason for sticking with expedited shipping is I was ASSURED by an Apple Rep that we got Sat. Delivery (which in this case would be AWESOME), however, FedEx IP Direct Distribution department claims that Apple has no such feature on their shipping contract. Also, the 1 delivery attempt clause is RIDICULOUS, why can't the person who legally owns the package pick it up at their convenience at a facility rather than wait all weekend to have stranger show up at my door to make me sign the same electronic signature form that's at the facility?

Man, I need to calm down, its coming and I have to keep telling myself that at least I am lucky mine shipped today.

If anyone else who received theirs already can give me some shipping answers as to if it will arrive Friday or not til Monday, that would be awesome, I'm dying here hoping that it will arrive in Indy by tomorrow night! Thanks guys!

Or for that matter knows they won't be home to accept delivery (like if they work) and don't really want it taking a free ride though town all day unnecessarily. It would be a lot nicer if you could call up and tell them you just want to pick it up. They require a state issued picture ID when you pick up to so I don't see what the big to do is about either.
 
Just had a question of my own...Mine left Anchorage, AK at 2:08 PM and I was wondering where it will go next in its trip to Athens, Georgia. After that I would also like to know about how long people think it will take.

To the original poster: I think it might make it if it gets out of customs quickly.
 
Yeah, that's my prayer, AJBMatrix, that it ships out quickly tomorrow morning from China, arrives at Anchorage quickly, leaves Anchorage quickly like yours did, and arrives in Indy by tomorrow night. If it does, there's a good chance it'll hit the St. Louis sort facility by Friday morning and a truck and my doorstep by the evening! :)

I guess we'll see 24 hours from now whether that holds true or not.

Also, screw FedEx customer support and Apple reps, if its at the sort facility in STL and not delivered by Friday, I'm gonna call them directly and see if I can negociate picking it up.

Mine also left Anchorage, AK today (1:08 PM.) So I'm not sure the time frame for Athens, but from viewing ever one elses tracking (foe example https://forums.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=41345&d=1140531890) they all seem to go through Indianapolis, IN and get "Int'l shipment release" which sounds like customs to me and then go to thier final destination. (keep in mind no customs on monday th 20th)
 
They arrived in Indy early.

If they get through customs with everything in tact, mine will ship to Atlanta at 4:17am and get there at 5:18am. That may put it in my hands by tomorrow afternoon.

how'd you find out all the info about the flight #'s and such?

FedEx ships out of a hub in Shanghai at that airport. FedEx has a hub in Anchorage. Thus, Flight Tracker can find those flights just like any other commercial or cargo airline. Just put in Airport Code PVG as the departing airport and ANC as the arriving to track all flights coming out of Shanghai to Anchorage, including FedEx.

We're in the same group tick for tack so far. I'm hoping that fedex updates soon, I still show last activity as leaving fedex location at 1:08 pm
 
Mine now has an estimated delivery time......Feb 27, 2006 10:30 AM :(

Anyone found that their MBP package got delivered earlier than the estimated time?

Is yours still on hold in Customs? I have called FedEx and they do not even have a guess at when they will be released. That SUCKS. If it does not get released today then we will not get ours till Monday! Mine will just sit 5 miles from my apartment till Monday!!! And there is nothing that I can do!

I think our computers are on the same shipment! Mine too is held up in customs, here's hoping they get released soon! The last update was at 3:56 AM, so maybe they already left Indy....
 
Mine still has not been updted...not sure if that is a good or bad sign. Still shows Feb 22 9:30 pm after fed ex cut off. It seems like fedex should have updated as to where it is now. Fed ex did update the delivery to Monday by 10:30. Am I crazy to hold out hope that it will come Friday?
 
Sad to say, I have actually called FedEx and their group in charge of customs says that there is a problem with the declared value of the shipment.

I'm in the same situation as you, I was hoping to wake up today to see it well on its way but still only shows Feb 22 9:30pm as the last update.

There can be so many shipments on the pallet though, so it could be that it just hasn't updated. I'm sure it's on it's way to alaska.

mine says: Picked up Feb. 23rd 8:58pm After FedEx Cutoff, but then also shows another scan also at 8:58 saying "left origin"

Anybody's had no updates about leaving China like my tracking number shows (attached)? It's strange that it shows it hasn't moved since yesterday morning!

I think ours was on the latest plane to Anchorage, my hope is that it manages to catch a flight to Indy tonight. STL is not far, hopefully it can still make it, if not, I guess I'll be begging FedEx for pickup from the warehouse!

So whats the deal with these customs delay? Any chance it could still be delivered tomorrow? How can it take 15+ hours to check a laptop?
