Depends. I have a home office with a iMac so the iPad is perfect for using around the house, and another screen in the office. Use it more than my 15 max.

there
i feel the same way, somehow my iPad 2023 gen 10 does not like playing MY .mp4 video from a Mac Mini
such as House of Dragon perfectly so that get shelved at night now as the MBA 2010
plays them perfectly!

the iPad problems are slow start, seldom crackle in  3rd gen white earpods (airpods? i forgot)
and slow playback during important plot moments,
while the MBA 2010 played episode 7 perfectly last night.

You need to provide more detail as to what you are doing - streaming? What apps, etc. I don't see any issues with videos of multiple formats on my M4 iPad (or M1 for that matter).

oh, i was not seeking advice, since these new  things are hopeless,
i was just agreeing with the thread theme how my older macbook air plays videos better.
everything is so better now!

They're hopeless when you as a user don't attempt to address your issues. They are not hopeless in and of themselves.
