I like the front facing speakers, but they take up way too much space and make the phone much larger than it has to be. I'm waiting for the technology to put the speakers behind the glass, that will be awesome. So my vote is for a bottom firing speaker, and slim those bezels down and make the phone smaller. Although I'm curious why they couldn't make the speakers fire from the top and bottom instead of on the face? Seems like a solution which would satisfy everyone and allow the phone to be smaller.

I agree about the wireless charging, but also the AMOLED screen isn't as good as the Note 5's screen. This is readily apparent having them next to each other. The brightness sensor on the 6p is also junk, had to install a 3rd party app for the auto brightness to work halfway decently.

Which app are using to control auto brightness on the 6P ?

As you know me, I am sort of a phone whore, but not like some of you, who get like 5 or 6 new phones each year. I know I am late the party, but finally picked up a 6P, and my God this device IMO is still the best Android smartphone available. Stock Android N is a work of art, just so beautiful with the animations and and cool quick reply stuff built in.

Anyways my most recent phones the past 12 months;

- Note 5 I had from August to May ( Great phone, just grew tired of TW )
- LG G5 had for couple days ( Meh, was ok )
- HTC 10 had for three weeks ( Sweet phone, really great, but I want stock Android on it )
- Nexus 6P now, and this is a keeper ( Almost Android perfection )

Quick thoughts on the 6P, at first it was a bit large for me, coming form the HTC 10, which fit so perfect in the hand and felt so good, but I didn't like Sense, even though I tried to Google'fy it to be like stock Android, it still wasn't. But I LOVE this 6P, holy cow is it smooth as hot butter, zero lag, I mean zero lag anywhere on this phone.

My G5 and HTC 10 has a better processor and more RAM, but those phones had very minor micro stutter just every once in a while, and didn't feel 100% totally smooth, but more like 75% smooth, whereas the Nexus 6P feels smooth 100% all the time. I like the AMOLED display once tweaked with a kernel.

Battery life on the 6P Android N Beta 4 Preview is shockingly good. Yesterday I unplugged phone at 6:00am, and at 2:30pm still had 73% battery left, and at the time I had 1h 55m Screen On time.

This phone feels like a mini desktop computer shrunk down to a handheld Star Trek tricorder type device.

For sure keeping this phone while, at least until I see what the 7P Nexus is like come September.
Glad you like it. I love Touchwiz and its many extra features and will probably never get another stock Android Nexus device. For me the ONLY good thing thing or advantage of Nexus is the faster updates which i dont really care about.
My Tablet recently got the 6.0.1 update from Lollipop and there are a few things in LP that i liked better......like being able to choose which launcher to use when i press the home button instead of automatically making one default. I mean getting updates is nice but i dont need them right away if the device is working fine.

I still get the option to choose what launcher to use on home press if I choose "Just once". Hasn't it always been this way?

I gotta say, I've been using the 6p for all day today as I got onto Project Fi and I'm finding the earpiece much better than on my Note 5. I've never liked Samsung's earpieces, I find them muffled and very unclear most of the time, one reason I really like iphones is their earpiece is up there. Well on the 6p sound is crisp, understandable and just a hell of a lot nicer than on my Note 5. Maybe it's the network, on the 6p through Fi I'm on Sprint 4g versus AT&T 4g on my Note 5.

It was. Now in Marshmallow it sets one as default as it does with a browser. Pushing the home button now doesn't bring up the just once option anymore and if you go to settings>applications>application defaults ,...it now shows the choices you have downloaded and you need to pick one.

I am not sure what you mean by default, but I just installed Nova on top of prime, and every time I hit the home button it asks which launcher I want to use. This is on Nougat. Maybe it was different in MM, but I don't recall it ever doing that.

It does. If I'm using Nova and press the home button it goes right back to touch wiz unless I choose from the pic below to use Nova. Doesnt let me not have a default anymore on MM. At least I don't see how to un default them anymore. Used to be able to do that. Now I have to pick one or the other as far as I can see.

Ah its a Touchwiz thing. Really doesn't have much to do with Android or the 6P honestly.

Yeah sometimes I think.... maybe it is not that bad....the Galaxy is unlocked now. People say it is getting slimmer. Then I see a screenshot like that. lol. Just the gaudy awful look of it. The separate setting for a launcher default? Touchwiz and Touchwiz easy? ugh.

All good for people who like it, but I would cringe every time I unlocked my phone if I had to look at that personally.

Eight months in, and I'm enjoying my Nexus 6P more than ever. Of the many flagship Androids I have owned, this is far and away the best. Fast fun and incredibly reliable, it's better than I could have imagined.

Perfect? No.
Excellent? Absolutely!

All i know is it went that way after updating to MM so I'm thinking it is Android.

I use Nova often so I don't have an issue there. Just that the defaults got changed in 6.0. TW overall IMO is much better than stock Android which I think is boring while missing a lot of good features. I don't know. Saying TW is gaudy ......some people are just too picky for their own good and why they can't stick with one phone for more than a couple months.

Agree...TW is not perfect but at least it allows a better user experience than featureless stock. I mean stock doesn't even have a useable battery meter. Then if you don't like the TW look...just install a launcher.

I just dealt with this today. The battery meter is nigh useless for me. Going into system UI tuner you can enable percentage readout, but that means tiny tiny font actually inside the battery icon, completely useless. I had to download power toggles just to get a numerical battery meter. This is on N though, I'm not really familiar with vanilla MM.

There's LOTS of things I miss from TW. Just something like the phone screen on TW was so organized, with nice big buttons and a UI that made a lot sense if you were in a phone call. You can minimize the conversation to the top of the screen, and control it in the pulldown menu. Other things were nice, like the Samsung browser having native fingerprint support for passwords and also having an adblocker. Wait, why the hell am I using a 6p?!

Good question. Not saying they suck but i was much happier getting another Galaxy after using my Nexus 5 for a year.

I have bought and sold a 6P twice now. I like the looks of it but then I use it and for a stock like experience and get underwhelmed. Battery life and button placement get me everytime. The volume buttons on the right side are just too low on the device. they need to be moved up above the sleep/wake button. This is the only Huawei device that has the buttons like that. I pick up the 6P and end up turning down the volume by mistake.

Having this phone a couple weeks now, tweaked and set up to my liking, with pure black Layers theme, which looks AMAZING on AMOLED displays. And Chroma ROM + Franco kernel giving me butter smooth performance and around 6hScreen On time.

Really loving this phone. Pure stock Android OS tweaked by the extra features from a good ROM is just the best IMO.

Only minor complaints might be the size of thephone is a tad tall, and a bit large. But that's about it.

I think a 5.5" sized Nexus with minimal bezels and current flagship specs could be the best phone ever, plus the added features on Android N giving it stuff that Touchwiz and other UI's have had will really help pure Android not be so plain and lacking anymore

Even this 6P running N beta 4 was shockingly smooth, for a year old phone with only 3GB RAM the 6P runs the N beta so well. Seems like N got rid of all the lag period, no hiccups whatsoever with very smooth transitions, and it's still a beta, running on last year's hardware.

I've had the nexus 6p three times and every time I've used it I wonder why the hell they put the buttons so low. This is the only real flaw of the phone imo.

I was so glad to rid myself of my nexus for my iPhone 6s plus. Poor performance. Horrid camera and the OS was unappealing and crap for me.

It is one of the better android phones but that to me isn't saying much since its an android phone still in the end. Just less crap than the others.

I loved the 6P. There are some things I miss about it, but the screen was just too friggin' big. They really need to make the next Nexus in multiple sizes.

The screen may not have been too big, they just didn't optimize the size of the phone versus the screen. Try a Note 5 if you want to see a truly optimized screen to phone size. It still surprises me how much smaller the Note 5 is than the 6p, but with the same screen sizes.

I didn't like the camera either.....then battery life was disappointing as well on the 6P.
