Thank you Apple. Finally we have a normal-no-kid-sized-toy Apple Watch. It is stunningly beautiful. Pictures don’t do it justice. It is screaming premium product. Just a first amazing and fresh product after so many years from Apple.

A ‘normal-no-kid-sized-toy Apple Watch’? Does that rather ridiculous description make you feel better about your purchase or something?

It does when you have large wrists like me. Regular AW looked really small, like really small. Not insulting anyone just can't look at my 45mm anymore. If you do not have large wrists like me then regular 45mm looks great.

Thanks for clarifying, it came across as condescending at first. My wrists are small so anything bigger than the 41mm looks absolutely hideous on me which is a bit of a bonus in terms of spending.

No problem. Sorry if I offended you. I am just so genuinely excited. First time after many years that Apple product brings some excitment. And that orange Alpine band is beautiful. The only bad thing is that display is very slightly enlarged compared to 45mm.

It’s noticeable side by side
7 on the left screen is smaller
Wow, that’s a big difference. I just upgraded from the 6 to a 7, and I think this is close to the limit for me. However, t’s great that folks with bigger wrists—or just like a large watch—have another option. Will be very interesting to see if we get different sizes. If it’s popular it wouldn’t be surprising to see Apple make a smaller one, although they may not be willing to accept the according battery life hit.

Just got back from the apple store and the watch does look alot better in person than it does in pictures. I ended up canceling my instore pickup just because I prefer the thickness and weight of the series 7/8 SS. Now when the ultra 2 comes out and they stretch the screens to the edge of the titanium then this will start to get tempting but the screen was no bigger than my series 7 that I could tell. It might be nice to have as something to wear out and for exercising but I cant see wearing it around the house all day.

Thanks for the side by side! If I copy the 45 mm and lay it over the 49 mm, barely bigger is still my take. The 45 mm is pretty great in the first place with that edge to edge screen.

Yes, screen itself is only 2% larger but that case screams PREMIUM. Pictures do not show it well, it really looks nice.
I agree that photos don’t show it well. Having never seen the previous titanium watches in person, and coming from stainless steel versions, I was expecting to think it was going to be utilitarian and just deal with it, but I was instead delighted by the weight, size, sheen, and feel of the case.

Yes, I did have titanium watches before but this Ultra looks really pretty. Probably best industrial design I have ever seen. And the bands are also stunning, both Orange Alpine and Yellow Snorkel edition.
