Got this one last month. She's a beauty in all respects.
Very nice. It looks to be one of the K98s re-arsenaled by the Yugoslavians? It has the German-style short hand guard but the side-mounted sling typical of the Yugoslavian Mausers. Although I don't recall seeing a Yugoslavian Mauser with a laminated stock like that..I have two similar rifles, an M24/47 and an M48A. All Mausers are excellent rifles.
Two recent additions to the collection:
Nepalese made Martini-Franchotti rifle in .577/.450 caliber, circa 1870s-1880s. Bought "as-is" after over 100 years of arsenal storage. It's DIRTY. I'm currently into the long, slow process of restoring this to its former glory. Hopefully I'll get it into shooting condition someday - although I might never shoot it, seeing as ammunition for this rifle runs over $100 per box of 10 rounds!
1896 Mosin-Nagant M91 with Finnish capture mark and Finnish stock. This isn't one of the millions of M91-30s out there as seen in Call of Duty or
Enemy at the Gates. It's an original Mosin Nagant M91 (a very early dated one as well) that has been captured or purchased by the Finns and slightly modified with a new stock and sight gradations in meters as well as the traditional
arshini. A fairly rare piece, and I got it for less than half what it's worth (which is what happens sometimes when you know what you're looking at!). The pride of my collection currently.
