I do not have any guns (so no photos) but I use to like them when I was a kid, especially BB guns and paintball guns.

I found it very scary to see the amount of guns one can own (based on this thread). Obviously, it is a very different culture and attitude in Europe.

Yeah - my jury's still out to lunch as far as firearms collections for personal use, unless you are pursuing a competitive shooting / hunting track.

However, very popular weapons don't actually have direct application to the above. I still have an extensive collection which will probably make many assault weapon collectors very moist, but I don't have them for fun, and I don't shoot for fun - I simply keep myself current in terms of skill and ability to handle. I don't even hunt for fun.

There are probably as many people who collect them for their macho-infused love of intricately engineered mechanical things with a purpose as do collect them for actually using - but still, in this day and age you have to wonder, just as I might look strangely at someone with a rack of samurai swords who doesn't live in a Japanese castle.

The attitude to the fact that it is given as a (slightly corrupted) Right of the People, and the value that many Americans - and I'm not making judgmental comments about any of them - hold in the Constitution is for what makes the gap in mentality between Europeans (and perhaps those elsewhere) and Americans. And generally speaking, the two mentalities are unlikely to reconcile. Oh well, enough OT :p

pleasseeee, keep any comments such as those to the political forum thread.

Unless you are going to make a comment such as "oh, nice mosin nagant", or "wow, what a shiny 1911", or even "dang I wish I could have a chance to shoot an AR-15 once", please don't talk of differing cultures or disagreement or uncertainty over reasons for ownership, etc.

I know I sound like a broken record, but I really like this thread and I don't want it closed. Seriously, there is a political forum thread where you can agree and disagree about firearms as much as you want.

thank you very much :D

Why they are called... fundamental

Yeah - my jury's still out to lunch as far as firearms collections for personal use, unless you are pursuing a competitive shooting / hunting track.

See, that's right where someone can go wrong in understanding the complexity of the issue. My guns are for hearth and home. My guns are a result of literally hundreds of thousands of years of Man being oppressed by his fellow man. And only recently, in the long and continuing history of might makes right, did a group of men make a government solely predicated on the rights of the Individual. The People would have the same rights as Kings.

It was any experiment in liberty. The jury is still out.

Whether so much power should be in the hands of common men isn't a new question, it's been a concern of despots for centuries. Even today our "betters" say that it should not be the case.

But I'm taking the chance the Framers took, that Man can be free and responsible and good. That he should use only his own conscience to know what is right and wrong. In the rest of the world it seems a strange idea for people so accustomed to looking to the State or Royalty for guidance. Worked well for the Germans.

Clean.

Thank you for creating that thread, xUKHCx. Maybe I will voice a few of my opinions in there if anyone responds to it.

Here are some more pictures, to keep the thread going.

Some more pictures of my Glocks

pointandclick, nice collection, and I really like the little rack that you made for your guns!

killr_b, super awesome 1911 :D I want one, but I don't really want to add another caliber to the collection right now... maybe if I reloaded. Take more pics of your firearms!

QuantumLo0p, I wish I had an SBR to show you :(

And to everyone in the UK, thanks for sharing information regarding your laws, and also thank you RedTomato for sharing that story.

That chamber is really clean. Do you shoot that one often?

Where do you live? .380 Auto Glocks are illegal to be imported into the US. You can only buy/import them if you are a police officer, or if you are buying a used one from a police officer. US Glock collectors always get excited when they see one in someone's collection :p

Looks like it. Very nice.

Thank you

I actually dont live in the usa, I live in Lima, Peru, and I find it extremely rare, that a small gun with normal bullet size like de 380 acp, its not available in the usa.
I use it just for fun, I will post pics of my 17 compesated, that I use to competition purpose only.

Yep. In order for a foreign gun to be imported into the USA it has to meet a certain number of criteria, and earn enough "points". The other subcompact Glocks come with the funny ridged "target" trigger, along with cheap "target" sights that are switched out in the US factory, just so they are able to be imported.

The .380 ACP caliber is one of the negative criteria, I guess, that prevent it from earning just one more point that would allow it for import into the USA for civilian sales.

If I may ask, why did you choose a .380 ACP subcompact instead of a 9mm one? In the USA at least, .380 ammo is more expensive than 9mm. That, along with the fact that it is weaker than 9mm make it a caliber choice that is usually only selected for super compact guns (smaller than subcompact Glocks).

From my understanding, Glock initially made the .380 models for sale to civilians in nations where people aren't allowed to own guns chambered in "military" calibers. I don't know the gun laws of Peru, but from your indication of owning a G17, it doesn't seem as if you have this restriction.

Thanks for sharing your pictures and information, I find it interesting.

There is a couple of issues with this "lovely" country, first is stock, there are about 3 stores in lima (the capital) that sale guns (here is the biggest one that imports http://www.armasperu.com/productos.php) (3 soles is one dolar, so divide it into 3), and there is about 10 models to choose, so you might imagine what happens when someone put a WTS add of a glock, its gone in a minute.
Second of that, I like to compite, in national and panamerican championships, of reaction shooting (tiro reaccion) and I find the almost no recoil, and still the .380 drops the poppers.

the last issue it the ammo, in my lovely country if you know someone in the army, the will sell you 380 amo as well as 223 amo and 9x19, for a cheap cheap price ofcouse is ilegal but they need the money, and I dont want to make this a political issue so ill stop it right there.

A lot of macfriends are cheking this threat congrats

Looking at the pic of the .50, funny thought entered my head.

How much do the spare shell cases go for?
Are they recycled or are they just thrown away?

Thank god for UK gun laws, I wouldn't trust any of my neighbours not to mistake me for some burglar/criminal on night, especially if they were armed. People do crazy things when they're scared.

I must admit though, Hollywood and the like do an incredibly good job at glamourising guns, they are almost coveted like the latest gadgets. I have had plenty of experience with guns however regardless of my ideological POV.

What could you possibly be doing for you neighbors to mistake you as a burglar?
