Is that a Kartsen cheek piece on the M1A? I've been talking to karsten about maybe getting one for my marlin .308 that I want a bit of a better cheek weld on. Any advice?

Also how do you like the streamlight on the glock? I wanna get a light for my G19 but don't want to break the bank.

It is a Karsten cheek rest. I believe it's his Model A. the thing is great and doesn't move at all when you tighten it down. Just a word of warning, you will have to drill your stock in order to install it. It didn't bother me much since my stock is the factory synthetic, but if I had a nice walnut stock, id think twice before drilling it.

As for the Streamlight, it's by far the best bang for your buck. When I was shopping for a light, I originally was going to get a Surefire X200. but the X200 was double the price, and had pretty much the same lumen output, same alluminum construction etc. so I opted for the streamlight. The beam quality is also as good as the Surefire. IMO the only reason to get the a X-series Surefire over the Streamlight is if you want a pressure switch that runs along the frame, so you can activate the light with your middle finger while gripping the gun.

If your looking for a light, seriously just get either the Streamlight or the Surefire. Last week I decided to try something new and replace my TLR-1. I got a Viridian X5L green laser / light combo. On paper the Viridian is very impressive, 100 lumen output + 150 lumen strobe light, and a really bright green laser, but in person the Viridian is very cheap feeling and the controls are very poor. The controls on the X5L are very small rubber buttons which are very hard to activate compared to the Surefire/Streamlights rocker switch. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Viridian if you want a light for serious work.

And because it's a pic thread, here's a pic of the Viridian on my G23. Shortly after taking the pic, I returned the X5L and went back to my old setup with the TLR-1.

Thanks for the info. I knew about the drilling. The stock on my marlin is sythetic so no big deal. I kinda wanted to put one on my wooden stocked gun but think it might look odd having black plastic on a nice wooden stock. Also that gun is .17HMR so so there's basically no recoil in which to worry about having a really good cheek weld. I can do a good weld on it but its more of a "between cheek and chin" weld then cheek bone weld like I prefer.

I guess I'll get the streamlight then. Its what I was leaning towards anyways

Just started getting into guns. Got my Mossberg 500 for HD and my GSG-5 so I can shoot at the range and not go broke from buying ammo. I think my next gun will be a Yugo AK-47. :D

I don't know anything about guns but there were some awesome looking ones here. I went trap shooting last year and it was the first time I shot a gun, it was amazing!

How do you like the glock 20? I really want one as my next glock for CCW but there was a case where a glock 20 was used in self defense and it was argued he was guilty for using too powerful of a gun. I don't need that hassle.

I love the gun, but I'm not sure I'd use it for CCW for pretty much the reason you specified. It's also the heaviest gun that Glock makes (they beefed up the slide for the 10mm round), so you might not want to be lugging around that extra heft anyway.

But it fits my larger hands better than the smaller Glocks, and I love the versatility of the 10mm round. You can shoot lighter loads that make it feel a lot like .40, shoot the hot stuff at 1600fps, and anything in between. :)

I have a G19 right now and LOVE it.. but I think I'll pick up a G20 when I move out west for going out in the field.. never know what you'll come across out in the sticks.

That's what's so cool about 10mm. You can load a clip with stock Federal ammo and have a gun that shoots pretty much like a .40. Or fill a clip with the hot stuff, and go boar hunting with it later that afternoon. :)

Six 50 cals in one convenient aluminum casing, semi-concealed, and portable. This isn't your P226 or G19, but I have a preference for the old models, like this P51, especially the D model.

It's an effective weapon, but not against Ali G.

Nice...

Here are just a few old ones

*awesome guns*
I see these and wonder, where do you guys get them? Although I would never buy one(a pistol, etc. would be better for protection), it seems like it would be fun to shoot down at a range.

Assuming you live in the US, Just go to your local gun shop. I'm sure they have a couple complete rifles for sale.

Building them is the way to go though. You get exactly what you want and pay less then buying a complete rifle then swapping out the parts. Assembling them is easy too, all you need is a multi wrench and a punch.

As for finding the parts, there are a TON of online stores that sell AR15 parts, and the only part that needs to go through a FFL is the lower receiver.

For all of you Modern Warfare 2 fans........:D

This is my MK14 clone that I am building. It started it's life as a Springfield M1A Loaded pictured below.

IMG_0050-1.jpg

After shooting this rifle for a while, I soon learned that a 22" barrel is way to long for what I want to do. I also figured out that I can't shoot a traditional rifle as well as a pistol gripped rifle. Much of my professional training has been with a M16/M4, so I wanted something close to the ergonomics of that weapon system but still wanted the power of a 7.62 round.

In comes the Sage EBR MOD1 chassis. I chose this stock over the conventional tele-stock EBR because of weight and I wanted to comfortably shoot the iron sights.

101_2394.jpg

As you can see, the 22" barrel just doesn't sit right. So I replaced it.

101_2567.jpg

So here she is now. I ordered a new 18.5" barrel and Larue optic mount which should come in tommorrow. I also ordered some SWFA rings which should come in on wednesday. I'll post more pics when she is finally complete.

SPECS:

-Springfield M1A Loaded
-Trijicon Accupoint TR20R
-Sage international EBR MOD 1 stock
