I'll sure be glad when I can get a C&R license. 75 bucks for transfer fee, shipping, and tax... on a $200 gun.:(

VZ 24 mauser is next on the list, amongst others.

Thanks for all the comments!!

Ya it's a MK14 EBR MOD1 clone.

Basically a MK14 is a USGI M14 that has gone through Smith Enterprise for modification.

Smith Enterprise replaces the barrel for a shorter 18" barrel, then attaches their Vortex flash suppressor & gas lock sight. Then the upper assembly is placed in a Sage international EBR (Enhanced Battle Rifle) stock.

Since I don't have access to a real M14, I used a Springfield M1A Loaded. I then replaced the barrel and slapped it in a Sage EBR MOD 1 stock.

Once I get some money ill get the right muzzle devices. but for now the GI style flash suppressor will work.

I don't have a pic right now... but, I have a Winchester 30-30 my grandfather bought from a fur trapper in upstate NY. My grandfather was born in 1903, maybe 02. The gun is flawless, over 100 years old, and kicks like a mule.

I don't shoot it anymore.

Nice to see the stereotype of mac users being left wing elitist hippies isn't true!

PS - I've had my PA concealed carry permit for about three years - I just never got around to buying a weapon...
My excuse is I'm not sure of my landlord's policy on firearms. I'm fairly certain landlords can restrict firearms on their properties in PA.

Most of what you see as "M16s" are actually AR-15s. They are semiautomatic lookalikes. They cost in the $800-$2000+ range. For the most part these are unrestricted (some states like California have a problem with them). You can own automatic weapons with the proper paperwork, fees, and background checks. There's at least one private F-16, obviously minus the weapons systems.
You Rang?

At last count 35 American States permit Private Citizens to own Fully Automatic Weapons.

And I live in one of them.

First, Understand that production of Machine Guns for Purely Civilian usage ended on May 19, 1986.

Second, Anybody that says they are still being made are either mistaken or, in the case of Pelosi, Feinstein, et al, are lying through their teeth.

Third, the process of Buying a machine gun is very paperwork and time consuming effort. As an example, I bought a suppressor, improperly called a silencer, in March of last year. I wasn’t permitted to take possession until September. I was lucky; some people have had to wait 9+ months before the BATFE clearance came forward. A year of waiting isn't unheard of.

Forth, Converting an AR15 into Fully Automatic capability is worth 10 Years at Club Fed and a fine of up to $250,000.

Fifth, Possession of a Machine Gun without the proper clearance is also worth 10 Years at Club Fed and a fine of up to $250,000.

If you want to know the Lawful Steps for purchasing such items, collectively called Class III Firearms, all of which fall under the National Firearms Act of 1934, go to this address:
http://www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=6&f=17 and ask.
Or try to IM me.

A few notes here: When I purchased my M16A1 It cost me $8,000.00, after Federal Transfer taxes, Sales Taxes, National Identity Check Service (NICS is require by ALL firearm sales), and a bunch of other fees, it cost me $9,000.00. I purchased it in November 2003, took possession in March 2004. It’s now worth well in excess of $15,000.00.
I am not permitted by Federal Law to lend my M16 to anybody, including friends or family. I can let somebody else shoot it, but I have to be nearby.

That being said, here are my toys:

I love guns and I can't wait to get my Glock 19. But to answer you question bobfitz14: yes and no. They can be used for home defense and in many states concealed weapon self defense. There are two groups to each side of the debate. Some police officers I talked to don't carry concealed weapons off duty because they feel like sometimes an extra gun to the equation can only fuel the flames and exacerbate the problem. Even if someone is going to rob me for cash at gun point and I had a concealed weapon I would just give him the cash. I had to be really certain that he was going to harm me physically to pull out the gun. Because if you have a gun pointed at you and you pull out your gun quickly the guy who is most likely hopped up on adrenaline and doesn't really care about gun saftey is likely to have his finger on the trigger. One nice flinch and lead starts coming your way. But also in times when someone breaks into your house just showing the gun may convince the thief to leave. I am sure there are more crimes deterred by civilians just by the sight of the gun rather than the use of the gun.

GS Owner: Nice guns. If only California would stop with these stupid gun laws I'd own a proper AR15

You're right.
and wrong.
If you have a suspect coming at you on meth, PCP or any of that **** - you may have to empty that thing before he stops. Strangely for a "Blue" state Pennsylvania has gun laws on par with some of the really red states. in PA all you have to do is show you have reasonable cause to think your life is in danger. You find a burglar in your house? That's all you need. Blow him away, let him expire then call 911.

As for the gun laws, you can expect them to get tougher. This country is getting more and more Euro every year.
