The ability to compile it is blocking 10.9 and 10.10 support as well as non-SSE4.1 support. A compiled patched version of Firefox 78 ESR would theoretically be able to support even 10.7!

EDIT: however, it would take me a while to track down all of the UI code for 10.9 they removed, and I might not have time.

EDIT 2: As of 2021-10-24, Firefox Legacy is no longer supported, and there will be no further updates.

hello, thanks very much for this legacy version, it keeps the *old*mountain lion alive.
would be nice to have also an updated thunderbird legacy version, as it seems for now stuck at 38.8 and would not handle newer gmail security.

Hmm, interesting. I have no issue with gmail, yahoo, or msn/hotmail/live. The screen shot on that page shows my gmail loaded up.

Cheers

@parrotgeek1 : I had a crazy idea and decided to try it. I downloaded the thunderbird-52.0 source, then i deleted the original /mozilla directory and replaced it with your patched legacy-52.9 source. I also updated oauth2 a bit from TBird-68's source while i was at it. Then built as normal. Oddly it doesn't fully work on 10.6 (which is what i was originally wanting this for), but it works fine on 10.7 and up. I'm thinking you could probably do the same with your legacy 68 source to build TBird-68 for 10.7 & 10.8.

Cheers

I am extremely busy for the next few weeks, but I just wanted to give an update that it's still looking possible to patch ESR 91 for 10.11. However, given that Chrom(e|ium) still supports 10.11, and Chromium Legacy exists now for earlier OSes, would there be any point?

EDIT: As of 2021-10-24, Firefox Legacy is no longer supported, and there will be no further updates.

Choices are always good, but I do think Chromium Legacy has removed the immediate need. I'm more than a little concerned Bluebox is going to get tired of maintaining it at some point, but then that could happen with any project.

I'm thinking of just trying to make ESR 78 (with the system title bar like chromium legacy does) for 10.7-10.8, then calling it quits with FFL.

both gmail account would not load any mails; regardless if i use thunderbird 38.6. or earlybird - i would enter credentials, everything seems fine, but mails would just not load up.

A few months a go i built seamonkey-2.49 for snow leopard, but the mail function doesn't always work on 10.6. However mail works fine on 10.7+. It might be worth a shot. You can grab it here. I have 3 mail accounts (gmail, yahoo, live) and they all work on it (they also work with earlybird). So, yeah, could be regional, or it might have something to do with your gmail security settings. I have mine set to allow legacy / less secure apps because i use a lot of older hardware and OS's.

Cheers

wicknix, it coult be also because i am on 10.8 and not laoding the securtiy updates for that machine; that was an issue for example iwht my epson ecotank printer, on 10.7 it would not print over the network, but afterappliying the security updates; it would.
found that the computer is more responsive and less cluttered withouth those updates, so iwill stick with 10.8 for the moment (with an ssd i could long for a newer MacOS, but on the 2011 mini quad i found the 10.8 and snow leopard most responsive).
found yesterday the option for allowing less secure apps in the gmail security settings (now turned ON), but to no avail, no luck with gmail.

Important update:

As of 2021-10-24, Firefox Legacy is no longer supported. It has become increasingly challenging to update it to a more modern Firefox version, and I no longer use it myself.

There will be no further updates to Firefox Legacy.

Thanks for all the support, it's been fun!

So do I. To think of it, 2021 is a 10th anniversary of the Lion release. Have to look for something else to continue running it as before.
I wonder whether it's possible to port Firefox 8x - 9x to Mavericks?
