I don't think it's scam. If it's scam, they would ask for these details per mail. But they ask to phone the official apple store support hotline for Denmark.

I would wait the 24 hours to see the update on your order status. And then after that phone the apple support. I mean, what can happen?

Even so, he could call rather than email his information. Calling the official Apple Store phone number is better than replying.

I never said, he should email his information. I said, a scam mail would ask him to mail his information. This mail doesn't ask for a reply mail, it asks for a phone call, so obviously, this is, what he should do :)

OP,

When did you receive this email? Call Apple and ask what the discount is and why you are receiving it. I believe this is legit! I'm always wrary of things like this since, I work @ a Financial Institution. If it's not the ram or the SSD then this likely means the refresh is imminent.

Look here guys and gals :) , I'm new on this site and new to Mac - for people to proclaim my initial post is a lie just tells me a lot of people on this site are immature and not really people I'm interested in communicating with

Doubters please get the fu#k out of this thread

Believers - here's a screen shot of the email I received:

Come on - I have better things to do than sitting on a internet forum and lying - I thought Mac folks were more serious than the troll guys from the PC world I come from, guess this is not the case

Grow up kids - why the heck would I lie about a price reduction from Apple Store :apple:

This was my first purchase at an Apple store - I bought the high end iMac Ultimate 27", 2,93 Ghz, 16 GB Ram, 256 SSD, 2 TB HDD, 2 TB TimeCapsule, TrackPad & Magic Mouse, Airport Express with Monster Cables, Apple 3 Year Protection Care - maybe this is why they offered me a reduction - I don't know how things are normally, since this was my first purchase in the Apple store and my first Apple machine. I've since then ordered a Macbook Air 13 Ult. - maybe this is why they offer me a reuduction

Bought both my iPads and my iPhone 4 with a 3G contract in a phone store - so don't know how the Apple Store offers normally work. Just find it funny that they give me the credit 1 week after I made the purchase, so immediately thought it must be because the new iMac is coming soon.

Also received the 10% student discount on my purchases - because I study at the University, but that discount was given to me BEFORE I was charged, not after........

Please allow me to apologize for the 12 year olds, just like in the real world, clods are everywhere:(

The letter seems genuine, okay, apple is starting stock reduction, it's a good sign that means new products are on the way, oh yeah!
But I just hope they could release more info. So I could decide to buy the current iMac or to continue my waiting.

Thanks cHseifert for sharing his intell. With us, hope more news will flow in

Read more carefully, he ordered extra RAM and an SSD, both options which were greatly reduced in price recently. There are NO price reductions on base iMac.

That's totally a scam. Why would they need your payment details? Apple already has them. Delete.

FRAUD!! Call 1-800-MYAPPLE and ask them about a price reduction. Apple will never request information like that in an email. PLEASE do not respond to this email.

must admit I feel like a newbie in this new Mac world, so not used to what you can expect or not I guess ;)

Will report the email scam to Apple on Monday.

Just surprised the have access to Apples register, since they know I bought Apple products. Apple must have a leak in their system some where OR my Gmail account has been hacked

Apple, also does not reduce the price of a computer untill it is not the current model, right after the store goes live again after a refresh.

Keep reading the thread, many of us do not think it's a scam. I believe you can phone Apple now. What time is it where you live? It's 10:23 am here!

Hey,I believe you and your letter, but I would be more cautious with my bank detail, hope you get a good discount from apple, keep rest of us informed! Many thanks.

I believe that price reduction is in regards to 16gb ram and SSD options, and apple dropped the price of those upgrades. It has nothing to do with the next iMac. Apple either waits until right after they update their lineup to slash prices of older generation models, or do it halfway in between a long update cycle.

May I give a tips for CHSeifert ?

Search in your mailbox the original purchase order. You will find on this document a order number.

Simply compare this number with the apple store order number in the suspicious mail.

Please give us feedback about this.

But it will definitely be around June, right? That's when lion is coming out.

Most definitely. It's almost guaranteed Apple will update its iMac line every year around spring-summer.

I hope you're right tbh I wouldn't mind the current model if the ssd prices were acceptable. But at the same time I hope we'll see the new iMac any time now.

Glad you didn't send any information to them ^

Hey my Danish fellow Mac friend :apple:

Kunne ike vente længere

Solgte min selvbyg MONSTER LIAN LI pc med 2 Intel SSD's, 2 Velociraptors og 2 WD Green 2 TB HDD's samt andet guf i sidste uge og orkede ikke vente og vente på den nye iMac - Sandy Bridge er fedt nok, men den virkelige update kommer med X68 og Ivy Bridge i 2011 ultimo/2012 primo :)

This is why I chose to get the iMac 27 Ultimate now rather than wait until the iMac 27 Sandy brige is here.
I play mostly on my PS3 and do a little bit of Web design, so the present iMac 27 Ultimate is just fine for me with its 2.93 Quad and 256 SSD + 2 TB HDD and 16 GB Ram :apple:

I will consider the new Sandy Bridge iMac 27, if I have the extra cash in July, when I sell a good deal of stocks :p
