I’m very ready to never see my Touch Bar again. Looked cool in concept but in practice, it forced you to stare at it for basic things like brightness to press the button and then you had to look at the screen to see if it was working because there was no haptic to confirm you pressed it right. It made you slow down and look away from your screen for stuff that used to be tactile shortcut functions.

Not to mention, it was so dynamic you often couldn’t rely on certain uses of it to remain in place where you’d remember.

Worst of all, it was poorly supported by the product lineup overall so devs never had a reason to dive into it long term. Apple didn’t commit to it on enough products.
I dunno, it grew on me. you can make it so the brightness just shows a slider bar instead which has immediate feedback. I also made it not dynamic so none of my buttons change once i selected the ones i wanted. But yeah, it was definitely weird if you leave it as all the defaults.

Giggidy!

Just received my 14" M3 Pro and the color looks so much better in person. I like it a lot. Much better than Space Gray. Now to go through the set up process.

Edited to add: It came with Sonoma 23B2073 and I didn't have to update anything but the stock Apple apps that came with the Mac.

Transferred from my 15 Air in about 10 minutes, works wonders when you have the right cable ;)

The only thing is Dropbox is a bit finicky on setup and the Home Screen icon arrangement does not transfer.. *First world problems I know

I wanted to change from the 15 Air to the new SB 14 Pro but they aren't doing trade-ins yet for the MBA sadly. I hate selling stuff on eBay.

Yup.. I had my 13MBA just sitting after they rejected the trade. Took it to the store over the weekend and scored a sweet gift card. Applied that to this and cashed out the rest on my Apple Card. Can't do 0.0% and apply a gift card. Just as well, I choose the free financing all the time, then my OCD kicks in and I pay it off in a few days. *Having been in SERIOUS debt rung up by an ex wife, I am still shellshocked about being in debt. Mortgage and car is all I allow these days

I’m a bit baffled. I bought a MacBook Pro 14” M3 Max that was originally scheduled to be delivered between Nov 15-17. I got a notification yesterday that it would then arrive Nov. 9. Now it says it’s on the truck and will come today, along with the usual “today’s the day” text from Apple. Either they messed up my order and sent me an M3 Pro or Apple shipped M3 Max MBP’s a lot earlier than they said they would. It hasn’t arrived yet, but UPS says it’s out for delivery.

Apple commonly will deliver earlier than the estimates.

Yes, they do, but I didn’t expect it to show up the same day as the M3 iMacs and M3/M3 Pro MBP’s. Apple kept saying later in November, which seemingly means same day as all the others. LOL

Update: I got my M3 Max MBP delivered, so I guess it’s true that all three versions deliver on day 1 of the release. Hopefully all the rest of you who ordered an M3 Max also get yours today, too!

I'm surprised too. My tracker currently says it's arriving today (7th) by 7PM and I was planning to have to wait until the 15th to the 17th according to the original delivery estimate. I'm not at all ready for it to show up and am now frantically preparing for it.

While I have to be ready, I do feel doubtful it will actually show up today because the tracking information is weird. I'm in Florida. It said it was "On the Way" over at a facility in Longwood, Florida, and then 4 hours later it said that it had just "Cleared Import Customs". 😵‍💫

I guess we'll see. I'll post an update when it shows up, whenever that is. It certainly seems pretty doubtful it will be the 15th to the 17th at this point.

It did indeed arrive today. I've been setting it up. M3 Max Chip to be clear - the one that was supposed to show up later than the rest.

Can't wait... Black Pro 14"... 1TB

* Side note I had a 13" MBA that I tried to trade in earlier this year on a 15 MBA.. Apple rejected it "dented" which is complete BS, it was NOT dented and I had pics when I packed it. Anyhow.. took it to the Apple Store over the weekend and collected $790.. not bad. Moral: Return to store, never ship trade ins
You'd sell it for a much better price selling it privately anyway. Dunno why you'd let Apple ream you from both directions.

What's the right cable? Thanks!

You should be fine. I'm expected to get mine today as well (at least that's what UPS is claiming, Apple is saying Friday). My package is 30 minutes away from me, but not "out for delivery" yet and I didn't get the "Today's the day" text. I also ordered the m3 max (16 inch) and it was originally scheduled for Nov 20-21.

Honestly, I don't think these are selling very well. Usually when Apple announces a new MacBook their ship date starts to slip pretty fast which is why I bought mine in a rush. I can still buy one in Canada today and have it shipped by next week.

Interesting, I wondered about this. It’s my first time buying a new Mac at launch but I had the opposite impression. I ordered my Max/16c/64gb/4tb from B&H Photo on 11/1 and it still shows “back ordered” with no estimated shipping date. I notice they seem to have a couple base configurations of pros in stock and that’s it. It seems either the big retailers weren’t primed with multiple configurations or they sold their whole allocation through pre-orders. Maybe that’s normal for a new Mac launch though?

You're on B&H, third party never gets as much stock as Apple.com at launch. It was also rumored that the m3 was in limited quantity because of the 3nm process but who knows how accurate that rumour was. There's a bunch of binned chips that they're selling so it probably worked out.

I just got my "Today's the day" text!

This just depends on the SKU. There’s configurations for the USA that are backed up to December when I look, particularly any spec’d up Max SKUs.

The standard configurations they have been stocking up before preorders even opened are the ones that are available quick, but the queue seems pretty long if you want a Max chip and a 2TB SSD or something.
