BonEcho is Firefox 2, maybe you mean Camino? Opera owns.5. I would recommend using a firefox browser name BonEcho, i think it was specificaly made for the mac.

First thing I do as well...whether a laptop or iMac.
So formatting the drive isn't bad for it at all? I really only know what I need to about computers, but for some reason I was under the impression that you wanted to format as little as possible.
The First thing I do (And im probly one of the only ones)
As soon as I get my Mac, I pop in the Restore CDs, Format the Drive, and Reinstall OSX without much of the Other Languages, Printer Drives, and Test Programs I dont need.
While its true they dont take up much space etc, This is a Laptop, and Space is Valueable at any cost...
Install Quicksilver, AdiumX, Opera, Flip4mac, VLC, eventually NeoOffice, Pacifist might be nice, that unarchiver whatever it's name was, Smultron.
For commercial apps which might be intresting look for Path Finder, Toast Titanium, CrossOver, Parallells.
Little snitch maybe, depending on your hobbies...
Thanks!
How am I sure not to delete architectures versus deleting languages?
Don't waste your time uninstalling those programs.. they don't take up much space at all
Verifying that your restore discs work as expected is one benefit....what other benefits do you get from reformatting right when you get the computer?
in regards to callibrating your battery, it says on the instructions on this page http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86284
5. Turn off the computer or allow it to sleep for five hours or more.
does this mean that i can either let it sleep for five hours or just shut it down and turn it back on?
i just got this thine yesterday and i can't stop using it. i didn't know that i had to callibrate until i saw this thread. is it too late to do it because i have been using is yesterday and today.
The battery needs to be recalibrated from time to time to keep the onscreen battery time and percent display accurate... you should perform this procedure when you first use your computer and then every few months thereafter.
What program allows you to see the number of battery cycles and battery capacity? There was a thread around here full of people posting their screenshots of it...is that an innate mac feature?
do you guys read the thread? you can do that in system profiler and / or use coconut battery (it clearly mentionned two post above yours!)
