So the QT uptime + Flip4Mac b0rks *some* systems? Anyone have any clue which ones, or what the salient system characteristics are? Video card?

Seems to me that it's most systems...I'm on a Feb 2005 15" PB 1.67 GHz.

It's not a huge deal (still usable and all), but it's not proper behavior.

I downloaded the demo 2 weeks ago and found that it worked good. Much better the WMP. Just I have QT 7.0.4 so I will just have to wait probably no more then a week and then F4M will be at 2.0.1.

Picture 1.pngso its wait or revert i guess

I think it's not that big of a deal just to wait, instead of reverting back to an older version, and then reverting back to a new version when it's fixed.

Office V X Crashes Too

Besides making Safari and QuickTime Crash, this software also made Office V X (except Entourage) crash on start-up. I just un-installed the software and Office V X works again.

Only problem is you still can't drag and drop a WMV onto the QuickTime Player dock icon, but no big deal.
Actually, if you feel comfortable editing the Info.plist file in QuickTime Player.app you can fix this too. Just remember to move the app to a different folder and then back again after your editing for the system to re-read the plist. And maybe work on a copy if you think you'll stuff it up.

DLed it and works fine. I'm glad too cause I had no intention of making use of WMP.

And so far, all seems well with 2.0.1 and Quicktime 7.0.4. No crashes.
There seems to be a bug with Flip4Mac 2.0.1 showing the incorrect bitrate and file size in Get Info. Everything seems doubled as shown in QT. It might still be an incompatibility with QT.

Those who installed Flip4Mac 2.0 WMV might want to open the application's folder and run its uninstaller, rather than just trashing the Flip4Mac 2.0 application folder, to be "clean". (I don't know that it makes a difference, so let's just say that running the installer is better-than-or-equal-to deleting the application folder.)

Then you can install 2.0.1 with its own installer.

Note: Their uninstaller runs by "installing" the uninstallation package, so the messages as it runs are pretty silly. If you get "installation complete", your uninstallation is complete!

Yeah, I just noticed that (Quicktime's get info window). It doesn't seem to interfere in any way with playback however, which is all I use it for, so it's not a show-stopper for me.

I might try logging out later and see if that has any effect.

Flip4mac free maybe unknowingly allowing for qt pro export

So in doing some experimenting with flip4mac i have perhaps discovered a bug in the system that does some of the work of the upgraded flip4mac. I downloaded a wmv file from zipperfish.com and used the flip4mac plugin to fast forward through the short. Having quicktime pro i accidently highlighted part of the movie as if i was using the dit option to extract a part of the movie. So i got an idea, i highlighted the whole of the movie, opened a new movie and pasted into the new player and saved. The video and sound were all preserved and the newly saved .mov can be exported using qt pro. Just thought i would share.

I had never heard of this before. This works SO much better for me than the mac version of WMP. I'm very happy.

Not really a bug. Any unprotected video clip that can be played in QT can be exported out to any other format.

The trick is being able to encode to WMV using the free Flip4Mac plugin. But you need Studio 2.0 to do that.

Same problem here.

The player crashes when I close the movie out. I've also noticed that it crashes other programs that are tied to quicktime upon running the program.

I'm curious to see if I uninstall the wmv component if everything will go back to normal, or it actually screwed up my machine.
