Well at least nobody will confuse it with an iPhone keeping Apple's lawyers away.

Wrong. It has a rectangular shape and a flat piece of glass on the front. Only Apple can have these on a phone. Oh yeah, and if it has a camera with a flash, Apple patented that too. (well stole it from Kodak and then bankrupted them) and if there is a flash, it can't emit any white light. Apple has a patent on the color white and photons.

Countless Android devices are safe from litigation, though they are rectangular and have a flat piece of glass.

This Motor doesn't look good in my eyes, but this doesn't change the fact,
that the "new" (not really new, nearly the same thing as always) iPhone is really (f)ugly.

Oh really? Do they also have the sales number as Sammy's GS line? Yeah didn't think so. Apple's going after Sammy because they are a threat. Plain and simple. It's not about the garbage morality story that all the blind follower just love to eat up. Why else are they trying to get a phone like the GS3 banned? It looks nothing like an iPhone. Same goes with all versions of the S2. They don't look anything like an iPhone.

Yet Apple calls the S3 a blatant copy of the iphone. What an effing joke they are. Face it, Apple rather hinder competition, recycle old designs and make up crap stories of how every Galaxy S looks like an iPhone than innovate.

Somebody's upset. It's gonna be ok, friend.

As a whole Samsung outsells Apple in the smartphone market, but flagship to flagship the iPhone is still the winner. And Apple isn't pursuing the GS3, only the GS2 and previous models, which were decidedly infringing on it's design patents. Now, as I presume you aren't an IP lawyer and neither am I, we are both unqualified to talk about whether the verdict was fair. I personally think that Samsung clearly copied too much of Apple's design, as did the jurors of the case. Samsung themselves even explicitly acknowledged a desire to copy Apple.

But I draw a line with your last statement. To say that Apple doesn't innovate is just a load of mindless crap. They are easily one of the most innovative tech companies in the world, far more creative than any Android OEM. Hell, even Android itself would look/function completely different had the iPhone never been invented.

Actually Apple already tried to ban the GS3. But the courts said it was too late. So now, it wouldn't take Sherlock to imagine they would try again, now that the case is done. Apple has called the GS3 a blatant copy since it's release. Apple would be disappointed with any blind follower that doesn't know this. Not saying you would be one of them, nope not saying that at all.

Unfortunately the wording in some of those design patents really does seem pretty vague.

While Apple is trying to sue everyone in sight to slow down potential competitors, I think the SIII complaint was listed on the basis of utility patents. I'm not sure if they tried to file trade dress claims there.

So superior that they bring out the same design year after year on the iphone and ipad? I haven't seen any innovation at apple in 2 or 3 years. Basically around the time Jobs started really getting sick. I don't think a lot of people appreciate how much detail and time Steve put into projects. A lot of Apple's innovative ideas came from him. Now Apple just seems to be coasting along and living on past accolades, which is one of the main reasons I am pissed at Apple. The other for being sue happy hypocrites .
Maybe their idea of ipassbook or whatever they are calling their equivalent of Google Wallet will change the landscape? Apple better have an NFC chip in this new iPhone or they are seriously missing a huge opportunity.

So why are the majority of your posts in the Alternative to IOS and iOS devices forum? Would you not prefer to read more about a "superior tech company" in the myriad of other forums here? Or is it that you don't feel confident posting in there? You may get found out.

Retina displays. 3D maps. Huge cloud service. Passbook. Siri. They've been innovating their asses off; you're the blind one.

What has Google brought besides redesigning Android to make it look more like Honeycomb, adding Google Now (which as of now isn't very useful), and tried to make Voice Search more Siri-like. Unless you want to talk Project Butter, which iOS has had since day 1.

Retina quality displays have been on phones and PDA's pre iPhone. I've been using a Garmin with 3D maps, building view and topographical for about two years. Doesnt the tomtom app offer 3D view or just their devices? And online storage....well I've been using FTP for decades.

If you mean coined terms like retina display, icloud and such as innovation then there is no debate. They are masters of marketing.

Your comparison with Honeycomb is strange. That was a google innovation, you are wording it like google copied honeycomb.

Because how was Android 4.0 an innovation? They made it resemble Honeycomb... Innovation?.! And having such a high-pixel-density-as-to-not-be-able-to-distinguish-pixels screen didn't exist in the modern smartphone market before the iPhone 4. You can say it existed before, but it didn't.

How wasn't ICS an innovation? It left gingerbread by light years. I use an iPhone cause I hated GB. Then started liking Android again with HC and was sold on it with ICS. Multitasking being my favorite innovation. Seeing an icon of where you left the app is so much quicker (and cooler IMO) then a row of icons.

Are you saying that there was NO phone with a high pixel density then the 4 before the 4? Or are you saying it wasn't marketed saying "you cant see individual pixels"? And if I make a list of phones with higher PPI will you claim YOU can see the pixels LCD screen or not?

Show me a mainstream smartphone that had over 300 ppi. It's not all a marketing gimmick, there's definitely some truthfulness in it. If not, why do almost all new smartphones exceed tha number, surely it must be more expensive to manufacture those displays, no?
