Why does it seem like all the issues that were covered when the iPad launched in the US are being brought up again like they are new an undiscovered? Are buyers just not paying attention until they put there money down? I don't get it.

As for the screen ratio, the reason it's 4:3 is so it formats to books and magazines. This according to Apple. Personally, I watch 16:9 shows all the time in landscape. Size is not really an issue. I mean the screen is 4 inches from your nose. How much bigger do you need it to be?

I can imagine a widescreen iPad - at least it'd be more like an A4 sheet.

Also, I'm realising that connecting to all the wifi networks I've used for the last few years on my iPhone is going to be a pain. The iPhone doesn't have a Keychain and there's no way I can remember the passwords for all the offices, libraries, coffee shops, friends' houses etc. I've been to.

Sell it and stop wasting everyone's time with the same issues that others have posted over and over and over. If it is not for you, then sell it and move on. Stop being a whiner when you didn't have to be.

I agree. 16:9 wouldn't work as well for most things on the iPad. The complaining reminds me of when my parents complain about movies in HD not using every pixel of their widescreen TV.

Uh oh. Someone made the mistake of criticising an Apple product on MacRumors.

Foolish.

AppleMatt

Legitimate criticisms are fine. But in this case, the OP is complaining about stuff that he should have known about before he bought the iPad.

Yeah, it is not about him criticizing an Apple product, but that he seems to have no clue, like this guy has no clue about the problem with the OP. Stupid.

No...foolish is signing your posts when your screenname is already attached to every one.

Instead I should be just like you

Before he bought it he knew the 4:3 ratio, but he clearly didn't consider it a problem. Now he's used it, he realised it actually is a problem. That's all this is.

Give him a break. People are allowed opinions, God forbid they should tell someone. It doesn't make them stupid.

I've had it for just a couple of hours but already am getting quite fed-up at just how much is wrong with the iPad.

Ok, so there's all the things like no SD slot etc., but I'm also annoyed that the iPad iWork apps don't support iWork '08. I can't believe I have to now buy iWork 09 to make my docs compatible.

And also the screen. We're a good decade into 16:9 and a few years into HD but the iPad has a 4:3 screen. For a device that is designed for watching videos, that seems really, really odd. A nice, big 10" screen but movies come out TINY!

You sound like a real whine ass bro. Do yourself a favor and take it back. some other clown will buy it an complain.

Is this the dumbest response ever? Survey says: YES !!!!!!

The OP sounds like a serial whiner/complainer that would find something wrong with winning the lottery. If he knew these issues going in and still bought the iPad, that makes him also serial stupid. I have no truck against saying anything bad about Apple. I am not a fan of Steve Jobs and I think he is a first class ****** but in this case the OP is almost as bad. Also notice that he has not returned to defend his stupidity.

I was pleasantly surprised how much it didn't matter. The LED screen is so good the black bands just blend in with the bezel.

Thanks AppleMatt - you're right. Fact is I love the idea of a tablet and was always going to buy the iPad, but can't believe anyone thinks it's perfect. All products can be improved upon. I was just hoping for some enlightened debate. And a couple of the more literate, polite and forgiving members of this 'community' have made me realise that a 16:9 screen would not have been such a good idea.

Someone in this thread wrote "If it was meant to have a built in SD slot it'd have one". How odd. So many people on here seem to think that Apple are totally faultless.

Here's something that will be a newsflash for you....
Even if the iPad had a 16:9 screen you would still have many movies that will have "black bars". Not all widescreen movies are 16:9.

I think quite a few accept it's not perfect and there are always areas for improvements. But to be honest you started the thread saying that there is just too much wrong with it. You had nothing positive at all. Just 100% complaint.

So to come out with that impression starting a thread you are inviting a reply. The first reply which comes to mind is. If it's so bad, why did you buy it. When a purchase is that expensive I like to read a lot about it and research it first. If I am not sure then I will wait and try the item before deciding. I don't think Apple are faultless, far from it. But having come from a PC/Windows mainly environment about four years ago I know a good thing when I see it. I got totally pig sick of virusues, mangled Windows, terrifying upgrades and incompatibilities. It was a refreshing change to come to quality products that worked. Yes, bloody expensive. But I can afford it, just so I would rather pay the premium for less hassle. No I am not a fan boy I just appreciate what I have got.

I bought the iPad, I liked it. It lived up to MY expectations. But if I hated it. I wouldn't come shouting that in here and expect everyone to say, there there. Poor old sod. The majority here cant see your viewpoint but we had better humour you anyway??? What did you expect.
