For those claiming 9.0 GM is not laggy...

If you think 9.0 isn't laggy, then maybe you've used it for too long and forgot what the OS is supposed to run like.

If you think iOS 9.0 GM is perfectly smooth, then I invite you to downgrade to iOS 8.4.1 and feel the difference for yourself. It's like night and day different.

Don't even tell me "Your iPhone is indexing... it takes a few days to be smooth again"... Yeah, more like "It takes a few days for you to get used to how slow it goes".

All in all, iOS 9 is a DOWNGRADE from 8.4.1 and this is CRAP. Get your crap together Apple because this is truly frustrating. Also, don't tell me that I need to let it index because I updated on top of a fresh iOS 8.4.1 install (so no funny business happening) so there's not much to index here.

I'm even running this on Apple's latest iPhone (iPhone 6).

Nobody's telling you that you have to be happy with iOS 9, but at the same time what good does it do to get worked up over it? Especially considering 9.1 is smoother for many people, so relief is on the way for the minor incidents of lag we're experiencing.

I'm running iOS 9.1 Public Beta 1 on my 6+ and I don't have any complaints. It works fine. Much better than iOS 9.0 GM and is on par with 8.4.1.

How can you pass judgement on an OS that's not even available to the public? the iOS betas are for developers to test their apps on not to be judged by the masses as to which beta is better than the other.

Because a beta or a GM is what they expect to release. Apple isn't going to flip a 'make it awesome' switch 10 minutes before release.

I'm sure you understand any software is always a work in progress. iOS 9 GM isn't going to be the last version of iOS 9.

Give iOS 9.1 Public Beta a shot. It's pretty damn good compared to 9.0 GM.

The problem is your expectation of beta software. No where in the beta software user agreement does Apple promise that each beta release will be better than the last. In fact, they make it a point to say that a user could experience what is seen as a step back (as it were).

For what it's worth, I've installed the 9 GM on my 6 and haven't noticed any lag. I did an upgrade from 8.4.1.

Don't bother with 9.1 either. It's still a lag fest on the 6 Plus. 2GB of RAM is what will save iPhone from iOS 9. Works wonders on the Air 2.

The problem is your expectation of beta software. No where in the beta software user agreement does Apple promise that each beta release will be better than the last. In fact, they make it a point to say that a user could experience what is seen as a step back (as it were).

It will still re-index because Apple makes changes to Spotlight search with each iOS update.

When iOS 8 GM was out last year, I complained bitterly because it was truly horrible.
But iOS 9 GM is definitely not laggy in any way. I am using 5S btw.

It's almost same as 8.4.1 that I hardly notice any difference.

Weather app is NOT stuttery like it was in 8.4.1 and that is a win for me. I fresh installed from DFU restore and set my phone as new.

However on iPad Air 2, Safari hangs when switching to private browsing mode. It happened in all developer betas and it is still happening.

Mini stutter at :40 when opening multi-tasking. Try doing something other than scrolling. Like switching between emailing, texting, web browsing and music playing while you have incoming notifications, you know, like real life.

Don't bother with 9.1 either. It's still a lag fest on the 6 Plus. 2GB of RAM is what will save iPhone from iOS 9. Works wonders on the Air 2.

I will say my Air 2 is loads smoother than everything else I've used. As I said before, horsepower will hide all un-optimized programming. I'm testing a Note 5 and I haven't noticed a single stutter (I was obviously suprised), I guess all Android needed was a 2.3GHz Quad core and 4GB of memory.

I do agree with you on the point of companies rushing to release an OS, instead of spending more time refining. As we both know, that philosophy, as good as it sounds to many of us, represents lost dollars to Apple, Microsoft and many other companies. As such, they release an OS with updates already waiting in the server wings.

As a whole, I think Apple does a very good job in software development and execution. I like that I have the ability to be more hands on with their beta products, even if I am not always thrilled with what is occurring (or the lack thereof).

I was just super excited with Apple talking about Metal. It really seemed as if they were trying to fix the wrongs in iOS 8 and even giving extra battery life to the 6. Time will tell and I honestly wish it is better, but my experience with updates have always been negative.

I can confirm that iOS 9 has some stutter and slight lag. Never had that before. Started with the betas and has continued.

You can see this clearly if you're in maps and tap the call button. Takes a bit for the phone app to load. Never did that before.

*gasp* A mini stutter? Oh the humanity! I never said it was perfect, but it's not as BAD as some make it out to be. (at least for me)

Also recording through QT is a bit less than optimal as it can cause frame drops vs recording from an external source like an actual camera. And maybe from an old late 2009 Macbook Pro is probably less than ideal as well.

It was just a quick video, since a lot have been specifically mentioning Control Centre and the App Switcher as being totally unusable.
