Part of the problem is expecting a x.0 software release to be anything other than the first public release. It's going to have bugs and performance issues.

Well after the debacle of iOS7 which was a bag of spanners for 8 or 9 months, and iOS8 that crawled out of the blocks riddled with bugs, Apple have their software reputation at stake with iOS9. They owe their loyal customers a damned good o/s and with the reputed 'performance improvements' marketing of iOS9 it should be better than 8.4.1 right from the start. Can anyone really be bothered with another year of lags, stutters, crashes and reloads etc? Seriously?

Anyone who's happy with this yearly cycle of crap is giving mediocrity a pat on the back.

I tried this public build now on my 5s, different build but same sh**, the lag is still present in the spotlight, CC and keyboard rotation animation.

Is anyone experiencing the problem of when pressing the Siri Home button there's no usual chime sound? I'm having this issue on my iPhone 6 Plus with iOS 9, updated today. After she speaks the chime sounds off but there's no usual chime when pressing the Siri button. I've already rebooted twice. No fix. Didn't have this problem before upgrading to iOS9.

I never had any huge issues with iOS 7 either, maybe I've just been lucky.

It instantly killed the battery of my i5. I went from getting 7 or 8 hours' usage time to 4 or 5.
Then there was the near-constant spinning data wheel which really annoyed me...
There were other problems too which gradually (and slowly) got fixed but those two issues were never fixed, even by 7.1.2

Working as intended. They removed the chime when you activate Siri.

Oh, okay thanks. I didn't know. I appreciate that. Whew, at least I know my iPhone isn't acting weird. Funny though, my iPad Air didn't lose the chime. It still chimes the moment I press the Siri home button.
iPhone vibrates when Siri activates. iPad doesn't have vibration. You'll still hear the chime if Siri is activated over Bluetooth (car) or if you have headphones in I'm pretty sure.

I haven't tried it in the car as of yet. That makes sense in regards to the iPad however. Funny though, on the iPhone 6 Plus after Siri replies then the chime sounds. I'm not getting Apple's logic on this one.

It's a bit laggy... I noticed it first thing... but it got better. The only lagginess now is when I use SwiftKey..but I had the same problem with 8, so it maybe SwiftKey.

I just downgraded to 8.4.1 again and MAN is it SMOOOOOOOTH. It's copying all of my music (plus indexing probably) and it's smooth as silk everywhere. Swiping, launching apps, control center, multitasking... everything responds super quickly. It's really really nice.

Ah, it's good to be back. 9 doesn't really have a lot of features anyways. Meh. Perhaps I'll stick it out on 8.4.1 until a worthy iOS 9 update comes out.

I guess iOS 8 was really just meant for iPhone 6 and iOS 9 is meant for 6S.

I know isn't it great?! If only the lag in the music app was gone it'd be near perfect! But the lag isn't that bad when it does eventually happen and it only lasts about 3 seconds when it's at its worst and it's easy to get rid of if you force close the app and open it back up. My 6 will remain on 8.4.1 till it dies and I get the iPhone 7 or 7S. :) Oh and Helvetica Neue ftw! Sometimes change isn't good!

Just updated my iphone 6 and damn its laggy everywhere. I though people were complaining just because but my phone feels like an old iphone 5 on 7.1.3

Can you clarify "everywhere".

I've updated my iPhone 6+ via iTunes and am finding it hard to see lag or stutter. Believe me I'm trying. I'm swiping up down and everywhere like a madman to see any.

Opening up and closing apps produces none and the card switcher is fluid too. I don't use Transparency.

I'm not running the latest 9GM but I am running iOS 9.1 public beta and I'm not really noticing any lag. I will say that my iPad Mini 2 feels a bit slower than my iPhone 6 (which is to be expected) but other than that, it seems fine to me. And, honestly, being a computer guy and into having the fastest feeling computers, I think I'd notice. But so far, opening and closing apps, swiping and scrolling has all been as good or better than 8.4.1 that I was running up until Friday last week.

Anyone who says that iOS 9 is not laggy is lying to themselves.

I love apple products and look forward to my new phone on the 25th which i hope will not have this issue.

I love Apple, however I will say I have no lag on any of my devices (iPhone 6, iPad Air 2)...Not lying to my self at all...

I really hope iOS 8.4.1 is still being signed by the time I get home from work tonight, which is about 10 hours time since I've just left to start my day.

iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2 user here and 9.0 is simply not as responsive or fluid as 8.4.1 is. On the Air 2 especially it was ridiculously quick and very responsive to the touch, not on 9.0.

It's better than 8.0 was but I think it's time for many people to realise that the only way to have an optimal iOS experience these days is to either buy a new device every year that comes with the newest iOS pre-stalled or keep your device on the version of iOS which accompanied its launch.

On my iPhone 6 it feels like ... try my best to describe it ... like its crawling through mud, like theres a sluggishness there. There's just a noticeable lack of zip to the OS.

That guy does my head in. It would be nice if he compared the fluidity of animations as part if his tests.

Same.

Surprise surprise. I was right. ;)

iOS8-4-Life.

iOS8 on iP6 still isn't as smooth as iOS6 was on iP5, but with disabled animations, I'll live.

"Metal". Hah....must refer to the lead weight the phones have had to lug around since iOS7.

I am very sensitive to stutter and have not yet seen smooth ios version for 6 plus. 8.4.1 has been the best so far, but it also stutters and skips frames every now and then. Was excited to hear that 9.0 was to boost performance.

Tried some betas and they were not good. The 9.0 GM was terrible. Almost all was sluggish and stuttery: animations, scrolling etc. After hearing that GM is not the released version I gave it a try. I am surprised how much better final 9.0 is compared to GM. Final is almost on par with 8.4.1 except for the task switcher, which is a lot worse in 9.0.

This gives me hope, that 9.1 or 9.2 would be the first smooth ios version for 6 plus. :)
