Lumia 920 is the whole package, minus release date, pricing, and app availability.

Galaxy S3 has a pentile AMOLED screen that is pure crap, outdated hardware.

Razrs still have the trash pentile AMOLED screen.

Galaxy Note 2 looks like to be a superior AMOLED screen, but on the gigantic side with no release date or availability.

HTC doesn't seem like they're making anything for Verizon.

No news of new Nexus phone devices.

So yea. iPhone 5 it is.

I think I have lost faith in apple. If the new iPhone looks like the leaks then I will be moving in to the Samsung Galaxy SIII. It will be weird moving from a heavy apple ecosystem though. But the screen is stunning, the app choice is ok and I have LTE and I can get it immediatly. ;)

I bought an iPhone 4 way back when it was the best phone to run in conjunction with OS X but things have changed a bit - Samsung Galaxy S3 is very nice, they've provided a top notch piece of software for synchronisation on OS X and the carrier I'm with is offering it on a $0 up front plan which sweetens the deal even more. I'm going to wait for the announcement from Apple but I'm already pretty much set on getting an S3 - Apple would have to do something majorly earth shattering for me to make me change my mind at this point.

I also have an iCloud account but having used it since its launch I've really wondered to myself whether having all my eggs in one basket is a wise thing to do. I have a feeling that I'll be heading back to using my old gmail account for my main account and leaving my iCloud email account as purely something for my iTunes/App Store. The latest security scare relating to AppleID's and UUID's is a reminder that having all ones eggs in a single basket as a bad idea.

This is such a weird thing for me, the iPhone announcement is tomorrow and I could care less, not maliciously but I've moved on to Android now.

I have the HTC One X.

As long as Android OEM's keep the good hardware flowing I can't see going back to an iPhone anytime soon.

This!
I'm in the same situation and feel the same way.
Now if Apple would make a phone like the HTC One X or a SG Note 2 I would buy it, but as it stands no I don't care about the iPhone 5.
But I do care about iOS 6 as I still have a iPad 3.

After using a Nexus 7 for the past week, I'm very tempted to wait for the next Nexus phone. If I don't like the look of that, I'll get the Galaxy S3.

I'm considering Samsung's Galaxy Note II. Others that I researched and ultimately rejected include:
* Sony Xperia S - only 32GB internal storage, no microSD slot, no replacable battery
* HTC One X - only 16/32GB internal storage (depending on the area), no microSD slot, no replacable battery
* Samsung Galaxy S III - pentile screen, 64GB still not available yet

Lumia 920. It looks like it will have it all and the only thing I've seen so far (with MS's muscle) to give Apple and it's ecosystem a run for it's money.

That said, Nokia and MS better damn well get off their asses and get this product on the streets. People might wait a month or so for the bugs to be worked out of the iPhone 5, but they ain't going to wait forever.

I'm planning on the Lumia 920 being my next device. I've got a WP7 right now and I really enjoy it. The only hitch on my plans is if the 920 is an AT&T exclusive since I'm on Verizon.

Nokia Lumia 920, black.

For these reasons I will be considering the same:

Same IPS LCD style display as Apple
Higher PPI
Larger Screen
Supposedly super fast LCD refresh rate
Filter helps with daylight / sunlight viewing.
True 720P (1280x720)
Can use the touch screen with gloves
Wireless charging
NFC
PureView camera, while a buzzword, actually produces nice results for low light photographs
Decent Video stabilization
WP7 is fast so hopefully that trend continues
The Nokia 920 is supposedly very rugged and well built.

Only minus might be 32GB is the only storage option and no SD expansion (aside from total lack of apps right now).

I can't wait to see these two phones side by side in reviews.

My next smartphone will be whatever the Windows Phone 8 version of the Samsung Focus is. I miss having a "Super AMOLED" screen, the colors are not realistic but they look fantastic. Makes my iPhone 4S look dull.

I think I'm about 80% sure I'll get the iPhone 5. Staying on the same platform as my wife makes things a lot easier. The iPhone 5 was exactly what I thought it would be, no surprises (good or bad). I do like the Nexus phone, and wonder what the next iteration may be, but I think I'll stick with what works well for me :D

I'm not thrilled with the S3, and yes I've used one.

I am giving serious thought to the Nokia 920 when it drops. I'd like to see the new Galaxy Nexus as well, but in all honesty I don't find Android to be any better than iOs for my own needs. I have a nexus 7, it is cool but I don't use it much.

Today taught me something- It's possible to not be wowed by a new iPhone, and I am pretty content owning my 4S a while longer.

I have and love my S3, but I think that the above is fair comment, I too was taught that it is possible to not be wowed by the release of a new Apple phone. Something that I would not have thought likely until today, previously I had been really excited by new releases. It might change when I see the device for real though.

* Samsung Galaxy S III - pentile screen, 64GB still not available yet

Pentile screen means nothing anymore. It got a bad rep from past larger tablet sized screens cause pixels were visible. Nowadays and with the GS3, this is NOT the case. Anyone who judges pentile screens of today are just judging based on past reviews.

64GB might not be avalible internally but who cares. I have an 64GB microSD card loaded to add on to the 16GB internal storage. That's 80GB.

I love the bit about the S3's screen and that it has 'outdated' hardware. Pretty much tells me everything I need to know about your iq.

What are you targeting for your next smartphone purchase? The next Nexus device? Razr/Razr Maxx HDs? Galaxy Note 2? A new HTC flagship? Something else? Just curious where people are headed next.

Note 2 for me

64GB black GS3 will be available within next 3 months

My father bought the (original) Galaxy Note in June, and I remember loading up a PDF of a textbook and noticed how off the colors looked. There was a purplish tint to it. Reading the same PDF file on the iPhone 4S was fine. I'm assuming this was due to the pentile screen.

I care. 64GB + 64GB = 128GB! :p I've got a lot of music and videos that I would like to store on my next phone. In fact, I listen to music and watch videos far more often than I use the phone. But that's just me, and I recognize that my usage patterns are not the norm.

I'll probably get the iPhone 5 and the new Nexus when it releases. In addition to the HTC One X I already have.

I've never been one to have only 1 phone, don't know how you guys do it.

I am getting the iPhone 5 but like Dontazemebro, I also like to check out the alternatives and spent some time using WP last year and have been using a GNex recently. Between the two I tend to prefer WP and am looking forward to giving WP8 a spin. And contrary to many opinions voiced here, I really like the design of the upcoming Lumia 920 and will probably pick one up whenever it's released.
