I kept the options simple as there are other threads discussing colors and storage size. I am sure those choosing not to upgrade this year will be a majority and chime in, which is fine. I’m curious if the ‘pro’ features are enough to lure many to that price point. I intentionally left off ‘other’ as well.

I’ve currently got an iPhone 8, had since launch day. Looking to upgrade to an iPhone 11 Pro - will have to get used to FaceID!

Looking at the Pro Max in midnight green.

Wife/kid just upgraded from an 8 Plus/7 Plus to an XS Max and XR last week via a Verizon BOGO deal. She told me I have approval to upgrade :) but I'm still undecided.

At the same time I'm the only one without Face ID and animojis... and even though I have my own dedicated camera and lenses (Panasonic GH5) the new camera on the phone does look pretty sweet.

Still torn... but might pull the trigger.

I am torn as well. I used to upgrade annually and then when the 8/8 Plus/X dropped, I didn't like the narrow design of the X and opted for the 8 Plus. I decided to keep it this past year as well. I at one point was certain I would upgrade day one this year but honestly, I wasn't blown away by the Pro. Yeah, its much better than my 8 Plus, but can I justify $400 extra at 256GB for a telephoto lens and OLED display (over the 256GB 11)? Even with money not being an issue, I am still struggling with the thought. I hoped the Pro would be a clear winner over the 11 and I don't think it is. *sigh*

Yeah after reading a lot of the threads here I'm actually looking at the 11 too now.

Do I need to upgrade? Absolutely not. But would it be nice to upgrade and perhaps upgrade again next year to the bigger and better 3 year cycle phone that everyone claims is coming? Maybe?

I can get $300 in trade for my 8 Plus and have a $270 gift card in my wallet for the kids 7 Plus I got in the Apple store last week. (Apple rep made a mistake and overpaid me thinking it was a 128GB phone when it was actually a 32GB)

So... $570 off any 11 model that I like. Decisions Decisions...

How important is the difference in displays between the iPhone 11 (LCD) and the 11 PRO (OLED)? Is the Pro display much brighter an sharper, or just slightly?

It doesn't factor into my decision at all... and I have a 65" OLED in my home theater and for that it's the best option if you are serious about picture quality.

OLED is amazing for home theater. On a phone however it's just not a gamebreaking difference and I've held my 8 Plus LCD next to the wife's XS Max OLED and stand by my opinion.

OLED is best viewed in a dark environment. Bottom line. My theater room is dark with blacked out windows. More often than not though we aren't looking at our phones in the dark.

I'll get it eventually... be it this year or next but it's not a factor in my decision.

Sounds like a no brainer since the 11 is $700 plus tax.

Apple store app I got preapproved for the 11.
I don't really need it - my 7+ is just fine for now but the lure of the 11 features (WiFi 6, Dual cameras, Night Mode, and longer battery life).....

Yep.. in the same boat. I'm fine with the 8 Plus... but this deal on the 11 is tempting... and so is the Pro Max for the big screen. I don't think I'd get $300 for my 8 Plus next year so that's another thing to consider...

I've had an X since it's launch day and an Xs Max since it's launch day, and FaceID has been absolutely flawless for me. My wireless charging stands on my desks are at the perfect angle to unlock when I touch the screen without even picking up the phone. I know some have issues, but I personally haven't. Not really anything to get used to, as you don't have to do anything specific. As long as the phone screen is facing you (I have the option turned off where my eyes need to be looking at the phone), it unlocks without you even noticing it. I love it.

Happy with my XS Max silver 64gb. I'm in the iUP and the price is the same so all I'm out is the sales tax. Will get the same phone in the 11 Pro Max.

I hope it allows you to hold in landscape mode so the screen rotated like it did on the 6s.

The 6S didn't have FaceID. I think the FaceID change is going to be more angles in portrait mode. If it works in landscape mode, like the iPad Pro 2018, that'd be even better but doesn't feel as important to me for an iPhone.

Is it me, or is the white color for the Pro's kind of an off white?
Yes, the white actually looks like a cream color thru the glass. It's not the bright white that Apple typically uses on their white chargers....

I am getting a yellow 11 - too tired of past Apple colors....

To further add to my previous reply I think I'm gonna go with the 11. I can get the 256GB for $280 after trade in and use of the giftcard from the 7 Plus trade last week.

This video also played a big part in addition to your comment.

Someone change my mind.

Hah... I'm thinking the yellow too!

Will that Deep Fusion computational photography feature be restricted to the 3 camera Pro models?

Hmm, I'm finding conflicting answers and EverythingApplePro isn't sure either. This is his take on iPhone 11 vs iphone 11 Pro

Edit: On another thread someone provides a link to Apple press release that says Deep Fusion is coming to iPhone 11, too.

I like the size of the iphone 11 so I really wanted this the most. I was afraid of not getting the good photo processing. But if that's not the case, well I think I'll get the mint green. I already have a Note 10+ for the fancy OLED display.

I have a 32GB iPhone 6s (gave my 64GB to Mom to upgrade from her 16GB iPhone 5, and got my brothers hand me down...) Planning on Green and Purple 128GB iPhone 11 unlocked models for the wife and I.

I'm coming from a XS Max and I am going for a midnight green 11 Pro Max.

my reasons for upgrading are simply the better battery life and extra camera. I use my phone for photo/video daily and travel frequently. My iPhone is my main camera, so both of those upgrades are welcome. Something I am also very excited about is the better FaceID. If it is anything like faceID on the iPad Pro (overall it is much better) I will be very happy.

The screen is literally the only reason I’m going with the Pro. I didn’t like what I saw in the XR screen last year after using the X.

Edit: I thought that I should elaborate a bit. The XR looked grainy to me and dull compared to my X. So I don’t think I could use it at this point. Maybe after some time I’d get used to it I guess? I’d love to save that $300 but I can’t unsee that screen lol. To be fair I think for 99% of people that screen is great. I mean we all loved that resolution in the past.

I recently bought a 4K TV and a PS4 Pro. Now that I’ve seen Black Ops 4 in this setup....no way I can go back. I feel the same way about the 11. Dramatic I know but hey. :)
