Yeah I had gone from the 8 Plus to the Xr and I had to go through an adjustment period. The upside to it is that it's easier on my eyes now when I switch between my ipad mini and the Xr, as there's barely any difference, if any.The screen is literally the only reason I’m going with the Pro. I didn’t like what I saw in the XR screen last year after using the X.
Edit: I thought that I should elaborate a bit. The XR looked grainy to me and dull compared to my X. So I don’t think I could use it at this point. Maybe after some time I’d get used to it I guess? I’d love to save that $300 but I can’t unsee that screen lol. To be fair I think for 99% of people that screen is great. I mean we all loved that resolution in the past.
I recently bought a 4K TV and a PS4 Pro. Now that I’ve seen Black Ops 4 in this setup....no way I can go back. I feel the same way about the 11. Dramatic I know but hey.![]()
Going with the Pro due to the screen and size. Size matters these days.
Good choice on the color - I decided the same.Mind is made up...
Upgrading from 256GB 8 Plus to 128GB 11 in yellow. Downsizing because I currently have 195GB available on my 8 Plus.
Fine with LCD screen. Don’t care about the 3rd camera.
Don’t need to upgrade but after $300 trade credit for my 8 Plus paired with the $270 gift card I got a couple weeks ago for trading in the kids 7 Plus for an XR... that means I’m getting the 11 for next to nothing so why not?
I’ll use it for a year and upgrade again next year when the new design phones supposedly will be coming.
Win win.
I badly want a Pro Max but the ridiculous weight of my partner's Xr puts me off. That phone is heavy as a brick.
Therefore I am leaning towards to the Pro. However I might regret it because on a phone plan the Max is barely more expensive.
Decisions, decisions, decisions
Most likely. Although a lighter phone I nice I wouldn't want to get screen envy. Furthermore 4k video is easier to appreciate on a larger screen. If you badly want the pro max then my opinion would be to get it. You will get used to the weight in no time.
I’m ordering the 11 Pro Max 512 Space Gray as I’m coming from a XS Max of the same capacity. I’ve been in the upgrade program for years so it’s a no-brainer. Get the new one, clean up the old phone and put it in the box Apple sends me. The new iOS 13 feature that makes it super easy and fast to transfer all the data from the old phone directly to the new one via Bluetooth or cable will be most welcome. It’ll beat restoring from the iCloud backup as I’ve always done in the past. That takes a loooong time.
If it works in landscape mode, like the iPad Pro 2018, that'd be even better but doesn't feel as important to me for an iPhone.
I’ve owned them all at one time or another. My favorite size is the 6.1 definitely. It fits in most of my jeans pockets and purse pockets easily and the cup holder in my car. It’s a great size to type on and even though it’s not a high res OLED I’ve enjoyed watching movies on it.Mind is made up...

Yep, it's supposed to transfer everything. Apps are still downloaded mainly from the store, no getting around that. But all the 'personal' stuff is transferred locally. I'll still probably backup the phone to the Mac app I have since iTunes sucks, but then give the new routine a try.would this be an encrypted backup? so if u transfer, are all email and app passwords also transferred across?
11 Pro Max, but changing my desire for Silver to making a practical choice of the Space Gray - and you know why? Just because I think the rear cameras only look good when surrounded by the black paint. *sigh*
I wish Apple would have kept the camera area as black, regardless of what color the phone back would be.
Like you, I don’t really care that much about LCD vs OLED. And I have the same thoughts toward upgrading next year.
I hope you had a happy birthday and keep on celebrating when you get your new phone! I remember when you joined the forum and chose your 8 Plus. I can’t believe how fast a year has flown by.![]()
Yeah I am upgrading. I'm thrilled the iPhone 11 got the ultra wide angle lens rather than a zoom. Going to the museum and getting an entire dinosaur skeleton into the frame will be possible now, lol!Yes indeed and thank you! I'm looking forward to the upgrade! It's been a year already! Wow! You're upgrading too right?
