i know i asked the same question earlier... ;)

How much iphone hard drive space is set aside to install JB stuff.

This was the reason for the larger partitions...... But you don't need the large partition anymore because Cydia doesn't install programs into the root folder anymore (I think Installer was the only one to do that). So setting aside 1GB is kinda a waste.

I'm using the 500MB version on my phone and my girls phone with no issues at all.

i also use the 500MB as well, no problems

I am jailbroken with blackra1n.
Any advantage of rejailbreaking using the custom firmware?

Not sure im understanding these custom files. So what is being made is a IPSW file(s) that we used to just get from say iclarified to update with iTunes? I just want to make sure what im dealing with here.

Whats is the exact difference between activated and unactivated?
I thought i read the 2G was simpler and didnt need al this but ill have to go look again.
I also have a 3G to do it too as well.

The custom ipsw is like jailbreak in a can. Instead of going through the button pressing and everything, some very kind people have made a firmware file where all we have to do is plug the phone in, and hit shift restore and wait.

Activated is for phones being used on other unsanctioned networks, for instance T mobile instead of ATT

Unactivated is if your phone is being used on on a sanctioned network ATT, Rogers, O2 and so on.

Oh really? So if i download one of those activated files for my 2G and use the shift key and restore with iTunes, thats all i have to do?

Same thing for the 3G unactivated since it is with AT&T?
EDIT* Actually it does say that in the second set of links....cool!

Has anyone on T-Mobile tried this? I'm so tempted but I finally got push working perfectly (thanks to Relik) and can't decide if I want to update.

success

ATT customer, previous jailbroken using blackra1n for firmware 3.1.2.
Used the 3Gs unactivated 500M partition.
Flawless

the part. is just how much mem you allocate for cydia apps/sources.

500 is more than enough for anyone i think. ive never heard anyone needing more than 100 really.

Does iReb not work on 3GS? I have just been on the site and it has pics of everything but 3GS? And how do you change the partition? I want to jailbreak my new 3GS that was sent as a replacement but scared to because I couldnt get my last one to restore back to a clean version of 3.1.2. Also will these customer IPSW's work with Blackra1n? Thanks.
