Im just reposting my request 2 times as i need to get 5 posts for you to pm me.

Once again...
3G iphone (firmware 3.0)
500 MB partition
Activated (on T-Mobile with ultrasn0w)

Do I need to turn on PM somewhere in profile / options??

They have suggested not to use them or download them at all because of security concerns(yours), legality of modified .ipsw handling, and probable tampering of the tool used to create said .ipsw.

They would rather have you have a friend you know make your .ipsw than you download it off the internet.

Yeah well i dont know anybody that can make these and i sure dont know how to make them. Why do you think i come here? So i can learn a few things and get what i need to jailbreak my updates.

I appreciate everything the Dev Team does but a lot of what they do is over my head so if i can get a custom IPSW here then why im here is working.

The dev team warns us, but they haven't made a new redsn0w for 3.12 for windows users.
 
Would it be breaking any rules to just post the link to where people can get all the links? That would save savior1974 from a lot of pm'ing and save a lot of newbies posting to be able to get pm's.

This site has just about everything you need. ;)
 
Question:

On that link and in the activated section, the links are in two parts.
I can use one link or the other right, ....or do i need both? Im thinking i just need to pick one of the two links but want to make sure. If i need both how does that work? How do i run a restore twice?

Yes, why is everyone asking for a PM when the link is in the first post.

Am I missing something?
 
ireb seems to be for 2G and 3G and not 3GS

I am not sure why the model matters if this is an itunes fix....

Anyway, does this mean that these customer IPSW files will not work with 3GS?

I am posting a warning for all of you to take into account. If you need to learn more about jailbreaking, then it'd be a good idea to start with this sticky. It has all the information newbies need.

Also, it's community backed... hence it's stickied.

Im not new to jailbreaking but i am new to this way of doing it. Downloading two files that combime is not how we have had to do it before so i am asking questions. I just dont want to mess it up. I will give that link a look though. Thanks, can never learn enough.

Hey everyone, long time reader first time poster here.. I can usually find my info by reading through all your posts but this time I am a little stumped and thought i would ask a questions myself.

I currently am running a jailbroken/unlocked iphone 3g version 3.0 (with push notifications working). I used Redsnow/ultrasnow (using windows xp) to do the deeds. I am on ATT, but i like to have the unlock just in case i travel outside the U.S.

I would like to upgrade to 3.1.2 and continue to have the same setup i have now. If i download the Unactivated .ipsw would i be able to just install ultrasnow again and have everything working (including push updates) because it doesn't effect the baseband.. OR do i have to download the activated .ipsw and lose the push updates?

not trying to get off topic but.... i hear that if i upgrade to 3.1.2 i will lose the ability to tether. Does that stop MyWi (the cydia app) from working as well?

Activated is for phones being used on other unsanctioned networks, for instance T mobile instead of ATT

Unactivated is if your phone is being used on on a sanctioned network ATT, Rogers, O2 and so on.

I'm new to iPhones and jailbreaking and I jailbroken my month old 3gs with 3.1.2 with blackra1n. Is there any advantage or purpose in restoring and trying one of these "Ipsw's"?? What is ipsw? An acronym for what?

Again, what's so special about redsn0w? Why not use blackra1n for 3.1.2? That's what I dd with my 3gs. Is that not the most effective thing to do?
