Has anyone heard or tried these out with a 42mm length pci-e ssd?
Ive found 512,1tb,2tb nvme ssd that fit this with 2000+mbps read and write too.
Makes the cost of making my Mac 1tb roughly 220 dollars.

sounds like that is the way to go. Thank you very much for the detailed reply. What do you mean drilling out the NVME stand ??Yes it does, I used a 2TB PCI-E X4 NVME which was hard to source, you need a 2242 NVME size, Sabernt makes these.
Rocket NVMe 2242 SSD
M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 interface. Up to 2,500/2,100 MB/s. NVMe 1.3 compliant with APST/ASPM/L1.2 power management support. Supports SMART, TRIM, and firmware updates with wide flash compatibility. Resiliency ensured through wear-leveling, bad block management, over-provisioning, ECC, RAID, etc...www.sabrent.com
They also have the 2242 size in 512 and 1TB on amazon. Zero issues with sleep or anything else. I did have to drill out the second nvme stand so this fit, but it was extremely easy. This also worked with 2242 AND 2220 size M.2 drive, but the speed was drastically slower. The rocket i tossed in is the same speed as the old one.

Hi Alexander,
Where we can find this adapter? My Macbook pro is always too limited with 128gb
Thanks
Got mine from eBay.
No problem and good luck! I’m hoping to find out what’s up with using this Crucial P1. I’ll buy another model if this one won’t work.Ok, found on ebay and bought. Now I will have to wait for 30 days to receive
Also bought the nvme pcie Sabrent 2242 512GB
Thank you

You need the 2242 format because the 2280 is too long
Yes, is compatible because is the same connectorI know that it’s too long but I thought it was at least compatible with the slot, no?
Please could you add a link to the bay source of that adaptor?
Could you also explain why you had to drill out the Apple SSD? I have seen this video and the guy gets out the original SSD without an issue. I have a MacBook Pro 2017 with 128GB without Touch Bar (2 TB3) and would love to update to, maybe, 1 or 2 TB.
This guy gets the Apple SSD out okay, though then uses a 2282 NVMe which obviously does not fit too well.
I found out my issue. I needed to create a bootable macOS installer and my Crucial P1 was then detected
Nice! Congrats!Here's a screenshot

hi, I would like information, i saw on the Sabrent website that the Sabrent ssd 2242 mentioned earlier with 512gb capacity has a lower read / write speed than the 1 and 2 tb models. Can you tell me if mounting this ssd (512gb) on my mac I will notice speed differences? I currently have a 128gb ssd. Thanks in advance for your answers
