FRAUD SITES - iphonegeek.com and DVD Pal inc. (www.dvdxstudio.com)

A warning to ALL iphone users. There are several fraud sites that claim one time platinum membership and free downloads of sorts. One such site is iphonegeek.com NOT iphone-geek.com. The membership costs $49.27 and I like a sucker fell for the kind of downloads they provide. They also said that the credit card will be billed by DVD Pal inc (ANOTHER FRAUD SITE). They promptly charged my credit card EVEN THOUGH (I BECAME A MEMBER AND) WITHIN MINUTES REALISED THAT THEY MADE AN UTTER FOOL OF ME AS NOTHING WORKED. More importantly, I have written over 20 emails asking for cancellation of membership, refund, technical help from both iphonegeek.com and DVD Pal inc. but they are quiet as they made a fool out of me (by getting $49.27) and I AM SURE of MANY unsuspecting OTHERS. My credit card was charged by DVD Pal Inc who claim to sell a software dvdxstudio and if you go to their site http://www.dvdxstudio.com/ and see the contacts - for phone orders 24/7 they say 1-800-111-1111 and similarly the fax number is also a fraud (1-111-111-1111).
While I am trying to see how I can get hold of the address of these guys to sue them legally, I just wanted to warn all iphone users NEVER EVER PAY FOR GETTING A MEMBERSHIP WITH THEM as you will regret it too. Bottomline: Both iphonegeek.com and DVD Pal Inc are bogus companies making money of iphone users.
 
Contact your CC card company right away and tell them, the fraud site may use your CC for other things.

Just tell them that you didn't receive the services described, and it may be a CC number stealing site. They will reverse the charges and change your CC number...

I suggest, if you had to create a username/password, if the password matches any other of your sites, change your password as well.

Just challenge the charge with your Credit Card company and with Paypal (or the method of paymenbt you used). They (Credit card or Paypal)will investigate the charge and if it is bogus, oh-boy! oh-boy are those scammers in deep *****!!

Be sure to contact your Credit Card's (or whoever you used to pay) costumer service and clearly explain to them what happened. Then file the report to challenge the charge.

THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH FOR YOUR ADVISE. Truly value the same as besides trying to write emails over and over again and speaking to my friends in the IT world did not know how to get hold of the guys. That password advise you gave is invaluable. The amount is small but the fact that they do not exist was shocking.

i was just about to type in my credit card information @ iphonegeek.com and i stopped when i saw that it would be billed in a different name (dvdpal), so i looked at the contact us link for the site that takes your credit card info and there was no real information, just a place where u can send an email... and hope they get back to you! so i looked up info on the site and found you!! it stopped me from getting my info stolen and a hassel with the bank to try and get my stolen money back. so i registered to this site just to say thank you for taking the time to post this! and to anyone reading... take the time to look at the site that takes your credit card information, if something seems funny like no real contact information, then do some further research before you just throw your personal information out there.

I am so glad I was able to help. Actually they have made such an interesting site claiming such fantastic "life time" downloads that it is natural for anyone to get conned... It is only after you pay, you realize that NOTHING WORKS even after becoming a member. I was totally helpless when over 20 mails to DVD Pal inc or to iphonegeek.com received no response or had no effect. Consequently, as advised by "gkarris" and "jav6454" (above), I took up the issue with my bank and told them about the tall claims made by iphonegeek.com that never worked, they reversed the money and said would recover the same from DVD Pal inc. They also issued a new credit card with a new number. A couple of days ago I called the bank again as I thought it would be interesting to know whether the bank was actually able to make contact with DVD Pal Inc, but was told that - I needn't worry:) as they had reversed my charge, so.... Glad you read the update...

Hi, I wish I researched before I put my credit card out there. Thank you for the info. I got scammed, but was able to cancel my credit card before any damage was done, thanks to you.

It kinda erks me when people look for some type of magic one click wonder and are unwilling to read or follow any instructions, then claim its some type of scam because they don't understand and are unwilling to read anything beyond a couple of sentences before they give up. You have to love the McDonald's generation.
 
You know the site is illegal? (if it even works as advertised)

It uses Apple's logo deceptively.
It also distributes copyright material for free.

It's illegal because of "movie and music downloads" which obviously didn't even work.

Apple logo on the bottom
"Apple top sites"
"iPhone top sites"

Anyway, contact your credit card company. It's been confirmed that the site links to content that's available on other sites for free (the same information is referenced quiet frequently here on MR, no need to pay anything for it).

My friend it is wrong to assume that people do not read, especially when one finds out that he had almost donated $49.27 (as nothing worked) and but for the advise of some super people who told me to get in touch with the bank and tell them about it, I would have had to write off that money. Let me give you an idea of the message that came when I submitted a ticket on the link (after reading how to contact them!!)

Would you like to let us know which application were you able to download from them and how much did you pay for the so called membership...(that has now been reduced!!!).

I forgot to mention that I have tried to get in touch with iphonegeeks.com not only through the method mentioned in iphonegeeks (and as highlighted by you and clarified by me above) but also through DVD Pal inc or rather dvdxstudio but even their links as mentioned by me above are TOTALLY BOGUS. I also have several mails sent to them (as they were the guys who charge your credit card) for proof that have bounced back as the customer service mail ID (support@dvdxstudio.com) of dvdxstudio guys (DVD Pal Inc) too doesn't exist or was incorrect... You can try it too....The ticket numbers initially being given by iphonegeek.com too was by some other site called "support trio", I tried to get in touch with them to but to no avail...finally as I said I am glad to have got my money refunded by my credit card issuing bank

Yes. This is not the first time the owner of a scam site has come on here and tried to defend it in order to cast doubt on their illegitimacy.

Avoid those sites.

Yes Sir, I agree with you.... Only I know how I tried EVERY POSSIBLE way in trying to get in touch with iphonegeek.com or even DVD Pal Inc but at the end landed up with frustration and a whole lot of emails sent out with NO RESPONSE whatsoever.. As I said before, my credit card was charged (by DVD Pal Inc - their site is dvdxstudio.com). When I was trying to find out from my bank guy whether they had got the money back from dvd pal inc (or dvdxstudio) as the bank refunded me the money, they told me not to worry.... but told me to check this link as well...

Noob,

the site is a FRAUD because nothing worked for the person who actually paid. That my friend is called stealing, fraud, theivery (whatever you want to call it).

Point is the site obviously has FALSE contact info, doesn't respond to e-mails and rapidly charges for something that never is given.

Now, correct me if I am wrong, but if a site fails aren't you supposed to get help? Yes right. Well the buyer didn't get any help but sure he got billed promptly.

Another thing, he is not saying anything about the Apple Logo at all. He is just warning us about a site that doesn't give what is sells. That's is called fraud or robery here in the US or in China or where ever you are from.

As for the Credit Card or bank don't worry. They know what they are doing. If they reversed the charge is because they already know what they need to know. No CC company reverses something just for the heck of it.

As for you calling people here ignorant (because basically that's what you did) please please hear this:

If something doesn't work because that person happens to not be able to read instructions or may be just too dumb to figure it out doesn't mean that it is a rip off.

Actually someone did say something about the illegal use of the Apple logo.

Banks can dispute a charge all they want, that doesn't mean anything. A charge cannot be "reversed". A charge can be disputed and just like with anythign else there are two parties in a dispute. Disputes can be contested by the merchant and in most cases they win. Especially if they have an agreement between themselves and the customer. I do happen to own a business, and no it isn't a iphone site. Also, just because a site uses a name for processing orders and has a different domain name doesn't mean that its fraud.

So does that work for you. When all else fails including common sense. Turn to violent threats, let me know when you come "break me into so many little pieces". I bet you are sitting in front of your computer clapping and laughing thinking that everyone else on the interweb is right there with you. Whatever works for you bud.

iPhonegeeks.com is fradulent.

- Charges for unlocking information that's available for free
- Charges for applications made by software developers that are available for free
- Charges for the promise of download of copyright movies
- Charges for the promise of download of copyright music
- etc.

I checked the site and the html code of some pages and came to the conclusion almost every link refers to this page : http://www.iphonegeek.com/access-database.html wich is a fake database lookup page. In fact it is not a database but a html page with an animated picture in it that keeps spinning until the javascript in the page sends you back to the homepage.
