There are drivers yet for OSX 10.11.6?
I searched in the first page of this thread but nothing found!

When was the last time you had a problem after a web driver upgrade?
I had really problems with an f02 version, i don't remember if it was 346.03.02f02 or 346.03.03f02, but i had many troubles in FCPX, when I insert a transition it crash, or with the "drag and replace / replace from start / replace from end / replace with retime to fit" it crash, or again others examples. So i went back to the version f01 and goes well, until the exit of f03.

The driver is brand new, so you can either try it and see how it goes for your usage cases, or wait for others to report that they aren't having any problems.

Yesterday I installed OSX 10.11.6 and Nvidia drivers and today I worked all time long with FCPX and no problems, all works fine!

Has anyone tried a GTX 980, 980TI, or Titan-X in the macSierra and using the 367 beta builds of the nvidia web driver? Any noticeable performance gains?

I have tried 367 beta on MBP15 mid 2012 with GT650M. Artifacts, graphical lags, instability of applications. I went back to standard macOS drivers for this very reason and everything disappeared automatically.

reading this thread has me kinda confused. I'm looking for a new GPU for my 5,1, have about $150-200 to spend. I don't game, just software dev and a little graphics work. I don't care about the boot screen so it being it being flashable isn't a must. I know power draw is something I have to worry about, and I'm not sure if cards of the same model but different manufacture draw different power, so I'd love a direct link to amazon on what to buy. But any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

I can recommend all Kepler Cards, working with OS X native drivers (= no issues with OS X updates), and of course optional with Nvidia web drivers.

Examples: GTX 680/770/ GT 630 etc. GTX 680 you can flash yourself.

Hello!

So I have a mid 2010 mac pro with a Nvidia GTX 970 card installed.

KIM I am new to using mac pros and pc cards.

When I bought this mac pro it was running el captain 10.11.4 with the nvidia geforce evga gtx 970 card.
Everything was running fine and so smooth..
Now just remember here: I updated my mac pro os to the new update (10.11.6) and when I did that it asked if I want to restart my mac and so I said yes. Not realizing then that when I did that my mac won't be able to display ever again!!
So, my mac pro is able to boot and the fans on the nvidia gtx 970 card are rolling, but I dont have any display.

I bought all the cords I needed to display. nOTHING
I took it to a mac store and they tried two other graphics cards (1 x mac card and 1 x pc card). nothing worked. which is probably the case because those cards are probably not up to specs.

I tried target disk mode with my mac pro and mbpr and when I installed the new drive I dont think it installed on my mac pro, even though I was my mac pro boot up, it still didn't install on there properly.

So, I know that mac pro works, because when I boot it up I accidentally changed the characters to my fusion boot up ssd cards.

So now I'm stuck.

So far my only option i can think of from impossible to improbable.

1. Reinstall Yosemite on the mac pro from target disk mode... and hope that works.

2. Wait for the original mac card to arrive to put into mac pro and boot and try to install the web driver on the gtx 970 card that way.

3. Some how blindly install the web driver on the mac pro with no display.. I was able to change the name of my ssd so maybe i can navigate to the nvidia web driver and install it by pure ninja sight.

thanks,

Problem is you only start reading after you find a problem!

This occurance is normal, you need to do either thing;
Use screensharing with another Mac (but if you have not set up screensharing, it will not work)
Or, install the old GPU that was in your MP, that is a Mac GPU so you can install the Nvidia driver for el Capitan 10.11.6

yeah i know. Im definitely doing that from now on

Question is can I setup screen sharing using the target disk mode with mac pro and mbpr?

Also, my mac pro is w/ the apple specialist and they said they tried another mac card and it did not work. Any knowledge to as why that could be?

Does the mac card need to be running 10.11.6. too?

so you didn't comment on the reinstalling to Yosemite is that a good idea too if the mac cards and screen sharing doesn't work.

No you can't I already stated that!

.

Sometimes when you switch gpu's you need to 'PRAM', your 'specialist'could have done .....or used whatever GPU.

Not very smart you just did it without any research.

Reinstalling has nothing to do with it, you're trying to find an out, its simple enough mind you.

If you use your MacBook Pro to boot from the Mac Pro's drive, you can enable screen sharing. Then reboot the Mac Pro and MacBook Pro normally. Then use the MacBook Pro to connect to the Mac Pro via screen sharing to install the latest Nvidia web drivers.

Btw, reinstalling Yosemite won't help your situation.
