OK just see a lot of driver trouble, terminals, turn off/on SIP and stuff? Don't see that with the AMD RX560, 570 580 cards? or maybe I'm wrong?

Im going to install my GTX970 and see how it goes.

Should I install the Nvidia driver before or after I installed my GTX970 card? My guess is I have to install the driver with the GT120 installed and then install the GTX970 card?

The AMD card has some other issues. At this moment, all Polaris, Vega, Maxwell, Pascal facing different issues. On the AMD side, we can only hope Apple willing to fix the driver (but they rarely listen to us). On the Nvidia side, the driver seems have more issues then few years back. However, we believe that's because of Apple make macOS less and less compatible to the Nvidia web driver. And so far, Nvidia willing to listen to us, do respond to our bug reports, and my personal experience with the Pascal card still very flawless so far (the macOS update and driver installation may be tricky. But once finish that, the operation is smooth).

If you want to use the GTX970, you have to install and select the corresponding web driver BEFORE you install the card.

OK I will look for the Web Driver then.

And is it true that the GTX680 and GTX780 don't need the Nvidia Web Drivers?

OK last thing :D

Should I get this Dual Mini 6 pin > 8 Pin instead of the Single Mini 6 pin to 8 Pin? Think its better because you get power from both 6 pin connecters and not just one?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Apple-Ma...009800?hash=item1ed960aa48:g:gaUAAOSwz~paTMvl

And when I try to install the web driver I get the message:

Mac OS X version is not compatible
Mac OS X version 10.13.3 (17D2047) is required for this update. Please update your OS version and try again.

Im already on 10.13.3, is the fix just to disable SIP?

If you are running one GPU, get a dual mini 6-pin to single 8-pin if your card requires single 8-pin power... or get a dual 6-pin to 8-pin adapter that utilizes both of your original GPU cables. This is the one I'm using with my GTX 1080 FE in MacPro5,1:
https://www.moddiy.com/products/Apple-Dual-Mini-PCI%2dE-6%2dPin-to-Standard-PCI%2dE-8%2dPin-Video-Card-Cable.html

What build of 10.13.3 are you on? (Apple > About This Mac > Click on 10.13.3 and will say build number next to it)
Looks like you're trying to install 387.10.10.10.25.157 driver? For MOST MacPro's this is not the correct driver number, unless you've hacked a 4,1>5,1 and changed the machine ID to iMac. You're most likely on 387.10.10.10.25.156 or 387.10.10.10.25.158 depending on your 10.13.3 build number.

SIP must be ENABLED for the drivers to install.

Yes its the WebDriver-387.10.10.10.25.157.pkg

I just found the WebDriver-387.10.10.10.25.158.pkg and now I don't get the message like before :)

My Mac Pro is a 4.1 2009 flashed to 5.1.

Build: 10.13.3 (17D102)

IIRC, the GTX 780 will require the appropriate macOS build because of the GDDR5 memory.

??? GTX680 is also using GDDR5.
Did the Apple version of the GTX 680 have GDDR5 memory? If so, then Apple supported it natively. However, I don't recall Apple ever selling a GTX 780 graphics card...or natively supporting it.

I have a GTX 770 with GDDR5 memory in one of my hackintoshes. It was not supported natively, and I had to use the Nvidia drivers for it to work correctly. Thus, my recommendation that tayy be prepared to use the Nvidia drivers.

This has nothing to do with GDDR5.

AFAIK, all GTX680 using GDDR5 including the Official Mac Edition card.

Apple also never sell GTX680, they just licensed EVGA to do so. The OS provide native support, but Apple never say anything to this matter by themselves.

Not sure what's wrong with your 770, it should be supported natively after 10.8.3. For 780, there is a little bit difference, because there is a revision B card which cannot work natively in the older OSX, but the newer macOS already provide native support for this card as well. May be Hackintosh is a bit different than real Mac.

Nvidia web driver V161 is available now, not sure what’s changed, hopefully some bug fixed.

Anyway, it’s safe for 10.13.3 (17D102). Just direct installation (update), no specific procedure for non-flashed Pascal GPU.

P.S. My SIP is enabled.

It has fixed a bug I get with some web driver releases that cause minor discolouration on context menus and that can cause major discolouration issues when using a remote desktop client.

Yep, some of that and also incorrectly rendering blues as yellows. I have the same desktop background as the iMac Pro and instead of being blue it's yellow when I dial in via remote desktop. With this new update, all colours are showing correctly!

There's also a .160 driver, which looks like it's for 17D2102:
https://images.nvidia.com/mac/pkg/387/WebDriver-387.10.10.10.25.160.pkg

The .161 driver is for 17D102 and showed in the NVIDIA Driver Manager update on one machine, but not another:
https://images.nvidia.com/mac/pkg/387/WebDriver-387.10.10.10.25.161.pkg

FYI, CUDA is still currently at 387.128
[doublepost=1520428208][/doublepost]Just to mention, the .161 driver appears to load on MacPro5,1 earlier in the boot than previous drivers have. There is also an NVIDIA Web Driver icon in the top menu bar before anything else loads. Quickly and easily updated with SIP enabled.

I found that if I select 10bit colour, some blue will show as yellow.

And the wrong colour in the menu area didn't fully fixed yet in this version, still occasionally happen.

I reported this issue to Nvidia, hope they fix the bug, but not there yet.

BTW, this bug suddenly exist since last web driver. It wasn't there before.

Ah! That would explain it as I am using 10 bit colour mode with SwitchRes!
